Book excerpt: This book was created, with love, for my clients as well as others who are experiencing issues, during the pandemic, with trying to make friends or communicate better with their family members. Communication isn't just something that adults need to do well, but also children. At times when life is hectic, children can get overlooked and their communication skills as well as friendships might be collateral damage. Therefore, due to all the recent changes, I have noticed that after the pandemic started, children have had a hard time with being able to make friends in their new setting. This could be partially because of living at home for the last six months for quarantine or having barriers between themselves and others that make it hard for them to know how to communicate with people who have half of their face covered or are in various forms of "bubbles". It turns something as small as making a new friend into a great task. Not being able to read people's expressions as clearly can cause children to shut down and what was once simple, can now seem complicated when it comes to communicating. Therefore, I have created this book. It is to help children still feel connected and to merge the gap between who they were before the pandemic and who they are at this point. Parents and teachers alike are encouraged to help their children/students by practicing social skills with the child and going through this book hand in hand with the child to build confidence in their social skills.
