Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world has undergone a remarkable transformation since the inception of air flyers and aerial adventures. What had started as a daring and novel concept had evolved into a global phenomenon that forever altered the way humanity perceived exploration and adventure. In the years following the initial rise of air flyers, countless enthusiasts, innovators, and dreamers contributed to the growth and diversification of aerial experiences. The skies had become a canvas for creativity, a realm where the limits of human potential were tested and transcended daily. From personal air gliders that allowed individuals to navigate the open skies with ease, to elaborate aerial races that rivaled the excitement of any sport, the possibilities seemed endless. The pioneers who had fearlessly embarked on this journey had become legends, their stories inspiring generations to come. Amelia Strickland, whose pioneering spirit ignited the flame of aerial exploration, remained an icon of courage and determination. Her vision had not only transformed the skies but had also ignited a passion for science, engineering, and environmental consciousness among the youth. Cities had adapted to accommodate the shift in transportation, with aerial docking stations and landing pads becoming as common as bus stops. The once-distinct line between the terrestrial and the celestial had blurred, as people seamlessly transitioned between the realms, erasing borders and connecting cultures in unprecedented ways. However, progress was not without challenges. As air travel became more accessible, concerns about sustainability arose. Innovators rallied to develop eco-friendly propulsion systems, and international collaborations led to the creation of global standards for responsible aerial exploration. The skies, a delicate and finite resource, were safeguarded for generations to come. In the heart of the transformed city stood the AirFlyer Institute, a monument to human ingenuity and the epitome of collaboration between disciplines. Here, aspiring air flyers received comprehensive training, not just in piloting but also in meteorology, engineering, and the ethics of aerial exploration. The Institute symbolized the harmonious relationship between humans and the environment, reflecting the profound shift in consciousness that had accompanied the rise of aerial adventures. Looking back, it was clear that the journey had been as much about self-discovery as it had been about technological advancement. The boundless horizons of the skies had taught humanity that limits were often self-imposed and that the true essence of life lay in pushing beyond them. As people soared through the clouds, they found a new perspective on the world, a perspective that transcended boundaries and prejudices, fostering a sense of unity and shared destiny. And so, as the stars began to twinkle in the now deep-blue sky, a new era of exploration stretched out before humanity. A future where the spirit of adventure, innovation, and cooperation would forever guide the path of progress. The rise of air flyers and aerial adventures was not just a story; it was a testament to the unbreakable human spirit and its ability to soar beyond limits.

Book excerpt: This text examines the negative practices of schools which are resulting in school systems failing students. Such practices include intrusive authoritarian administrative structures and procedures; inappropriate discipline; unrealistic expectations; and placid exceptance of exclusionary practices. Indeed, educational systemic violence includes any practice or procedure that prevents students from learning, thus harming them. Taking a close look at ways in which current social problems may be a result of, or even supported by, compulsory schooling, the contributors to this volume consider whether or not schools contribute to the violence amongst modern young people.

Book Beyond Words

Download or read book Beyond Words written by Kathlyn Conway and published by UNM Press. This book was released on 2013-05-15 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Kathlyn Conway opens primordial questions about the shattering events of illness through close readings of selected illness narratives, proposing that only writing of a daring kind can utter the knowledge of the self-telling body. Wielding her ferocious intellect and braving exposure to self and other, Conway makes original discoveries about writing and illness and, more stunningly, about writing and life. Not a book about illness, this is a book about writing and being. It is taut, brave, unequalled in our scholarship, and true. Conway joins our most powerful investigators of the human predicament of mortality, helping us to see, helping us to live.”—Rita Charon, Columbia University, Program in Narrative Medicine Published accounts of illness and disability often emphasize hope and positive thinking: the woman who still looked beautiful after losing her hair, the man who ran five miles a day during chemotherapy. This acclaimed examination of the genre of the illness narrative questions that upbeat approach. Author Kathlyn Conway, a three-time cancer survivor and herself the author of an illness memoir, believes that the triumphalist approach to writing about illness fails to do justice to the shattering experience of disease. By wrestling with the challenge of writing about the reality of serious illness and injury, she argues, writers can offer a truer picture of the complex relationship between body and mind.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now in tradepaper is the first book of spiritual teachings in several years from international best-selling author and beloved spiritual teacher Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. Audio lectures of Wayne's from the 1990s and 2000s are restructured in a cohesive way to offer a fresh take on his teachings. "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." This was something Dr. Wayne Dyer said often, and it was the inspiration for this book. The material contained within is taken from speeches and presentations he gave to many varied audiences, over many years. Yet it seemed that no matter who he talked to, he returned to a few themes over and over again, and these themes are woven throughout the pages of Happiness Is the Way. As Wayne will show you, there is no magic potion for getting what you want from life. All you could ever want or need can be found inside of you--you simply need to learn to reframe your thinking. No matter what your present circumstances are, you have the power to overcome them. This book will show you the impact of your attitudes, choices, and expectations, leading you to a great sense of empowerment; help you recognize how you are likely much more successful than you ever realized, regardless of the challenges you may be facing; and illuminate the importance of a personal mission. It also includes specific questions and journal exercises to help you chart the way to the life you've dreamed of. In the process, you'll discover that you contain the seeds for greatness within, leading you to a life of true happiness.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The history of the United States in the last thirty years, its preoccupation with the Vietnam War and the devastating affects of that war on the psyche of this nation is evidence of a foreign policy tragedy. Foreign policy tragedy brings domestic tragedy in its wake. The purpose of this study is to work out why the approaches to social revolution--and that is what the Vietnam War was about--have been wrong on both sides of the ideological spectrum the last thirty years in the U.S., point out why they were wrong, point to where they were wrong, and point to the consequences of acting in a society when the perceptions are in certain respects wrong. Let me sum up my perception on what went wrong in Vietnam. It was a Right wing war fought on Left wing premises. It was a war that could not have been won because those who designed it would not or could not win it--but were also afraid of losing it. It was a war that was wrongly perceived by both sides of the ideological spectrum. The Liberal argument was that America tried everything and 'still' lost it! The Conservative argument was that it could have been won if the opposition had not tied their hands, keeping them from an all out effort that would have been required to win it. The war was started in earnest by the Liberals under Kennedy. The strategy was to roll up the enemy by hitting on the peasant and through it, cut off the leaders. Pacification, education, re-education, indoctrination, and the introduction of 'self-defense' techniques to the South Vietnamese peasants was meant to stop the revolution exported from the North in its tracks. The U.S. policy was predicated on the assumption that the peasants really had something to do with the ruling functions of the North Vietnamese revolution after Thermidor; that after the onset of Thermidor--after the 'institutionalization' of the revolution--in Hanoi, the 'revolution' was still revolution. The 'Liberal' approach has believed that revolution is tantamount to Mao's view of it in China--peasants all immersed in the revolutionary process as 'fish in the sea'. And so you would have to drain the very ocean itself to stop it. 'Our' approach to the post revolutionary process is that 'after' the onset of Thermidor in a society, 'revolution' is a bunch of terror informed super bureaucrats at the 'center' of a society increasingly cut off from the periphery. In a post revolutionary society, it is the leaders that matter--not the 'fish in the sea'. So bombing the 'small fish' into fish soup hell in response--as did the 'West' in Vietnam in that war--every tree, every outhouse, every shack, and every village, until they drop so much ordinance that the entire region is brain dead from defoliants and pockmarks and natural calamities, while leaving the 'center' untouched, would seem insane. Yet that was the policy in Vietnam of America. And then nothing happened! Nothing happened week after week, year after year except that America itself was being driven mad doing the same thing, and expecting it to come out different. That, as the President-elect said in 1993, was and is insanity. But what choice did they all have? The pro-war liberal American leadership that designed the war in Vietnam did not dare bomb Hanoi, the capitol of North Vietnam, for fear of triggering World War III with Red China and with Soviet Russia--both of whose client North Vietnam was. So they tied their own hands, figuring that by coming through the back door, 'fish in the sea' style, piece by piece, nobody will notice in China and Russia; ergo no World War III. So they took a strategy that was insane, and made a virtue out of its necessity. They
