Book Emergency Department Compliance Manual

Download or read book Emergency Department Compliance Manual written by Rusty McNew and published by Wolters Kluwer. This book was released on 2017-06-14 with total page 1242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Emergency Department Compliance Manual, 2017 Edition provides everything you need to stay in compliance with complex emergency department regulations. The list of questions helps you quickly locate specific guidance on difficult legal areas such as: Complying with COBRA Dealing with psychiatric patients Negotiating consent requirements Obtaining reimbursement for ED services Avoiding employment law problems Emergency Department Compliance Manual also features first-hand advice from staff members at hospitals that have recently navigated a Joint Commission survey and includes frank and detailed information. Organized by topic, it allows you to readily compare the experiences of different hospitals. Because of the Joint Commission's hospital-wide, function-based approach to evaluating compliance, it's been difficult to know specifically what's expected of you in the ED. Emergency Department Compliance Manual includes a concise grid outlining the most recent Joint Commission standards which will help you learn what responsibilities you have for demonstrating compliance. Plus, Emergency Department Compliance Manual includes sample documentation that hospitals across the country have used to show compliance with legal requirements and Joint Commission standards: Age-related competencies Patient assessment policies and procedures Consent forms Advance directives Policies and protocols Roles and responsibilities of ED staff Quality improvement tools Conscious sedation policies and procedures Triage, referral, and discharge policies and procedures And much more!

Book Space System Architecture Analysis and Wargaming

Download or read book Space System Architecture Analysis and Wargaming written by Larry B. Rainey and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-05-31 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Space System Architecture Analysis and Wargaming presents a single-source reference for two major topics that are not currently covered in literature related to subdisciplines of astronautics. It provides modeling and simulation tools to architect space systems and analysis, which include detailed discussions of various simulation tools: STK, SEAS, SOAP, AFSIM, EADSIM, and STORM. Working through the types of analysis that can be performed with each toolkit, the book focuses on designing and evaluating alternative space systems and system of systems to meet mission requirements. It also addresses the field of space wargaming with two tools: Space Warfare Analysis Tool/Space Attack Warning and Space and Information Analysis Model. The book is intended for professionals working in the fields of aerospace engineering, astronautical engineering, space systems engineering, and space wargaming. It will also interest graduate students who are studying spacecraft systems and space architecture.

Book How Reliable is Your Product

Download or read book How Reliable is Your Product written by Mike Silverman and published by Happy About. This book was released on 2012 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditionally, the way to test a product's reliability was to build it--and then try to break it. As systems and technologies improved, TAAF (Test, Analyze and Fix) methodologies were developed and adopted. In today's global economy, with its short, technologically-intense product life cycles, TAAF cannot suffice. Reliability can no longer be a step or a series of steps in product development; it is something that needs to be acknowledged up front and built into the product from its very conception. Reliability, in other words, must be 'designed in.' Product developers now have many tools--software and hardware--at their disposal for building reliability in from the get go. From the organizational point of view, what better way to design in reliability than to make designers themselves responsible for the reliability of their designs? As "Mike Silverman" explains in "How Reliable is Your Product?," this is why the role of the reliability engineer is changing to one of mentor. Product developers are now responsible for going out and finding the best testing tools and then training the designers on their use, so that designers factor and build in reliability at every stage of product design. Mike has focused on reliability throughout his 25-year career, and has observed the position of reliability in the organization evolve. In this book, he condenses his expertise and experience into a volume of immense practical worth to the engineering and engineering management communities including designers, manufacturing engineers and reliability/quality engineers. Among other things, Mike discusses how reliability fits, or should fit, within the product design cycle. He provides a high-level overview of reliability techniques available to engineers today. He lucidly discusses the design of experiments and the role of failure management. With case studies and narratives from personal experience, Mike discusses optimal ways to utilize different reliability techniques. He highlights common errors of judgment, missteps and sub-optimal decisions that are often made within organizations on the path to total reliability. With"How Reliable is Your Product?" "Mike Silverman" has delivered what few have done before--a comprehensive yet succinct overview of the field of reliability engineering and testing. Engineers and engineering managers will find much in this book of immediate, practical value.

Book Tox21 Challenge to Build Predictive Models of Nuclear Receptor and Stress Response Pathways as Mediated by Exposure to Environmental Toxicants and Drugs

Download or read book Tox21 Challenge to Build Predictive Models of Nuclear Receptor and Stress Response Pathways as Mediated by Exposure to Environmental Toxicants and Drugs written by Ruili Huang and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tens of thousands of chemicals are released into the environment every day. High-throughput screening (HTS) has offered a more efficient and cost-effective alternative to traditional toxicity tests that can profile these chemicals for potential adverse effects with the aim to prioritize a manageable number for more in depth testing and to provide clues to mechanism of toxicity. The Tox21 program, a collaboration between the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)/National Toxicology Program (NTP), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Center for Computational Toxicology (NCCT), the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has generated quantitative high-throughput screening (qHTS) data on a library of 10K compounds, including environmental chemicals and drugs, against a panel of nuclear receptor and stress response pathway assays during its production phase (phase II). The Tox21 Challenge, a worldwide modeling competition, was launched that asks a “crowd” of researchers to use these data to elucidate the extent to which the interference of biochemical and cellular pathways by compounds can be inferred from chemical structure data. In the Challenge participants were asked to model twelve assays related to nuclear receptor and stress response pathways using the data generated against the Tox21 10K compound library as the training set. The computational models built within this Challenge are expected to improve the community’s ability to prioritize novel chemicals with respect to potential concern to human health. This research topic presents the resulting computational models with good predictive performance from this Challenge.
