Not just anyone can visit Broken Heart, Oklahoma, especially since all the single moms—like me, Patsy Donahue—have been turned into vampires. I’m forever forty, but looking younger than my years, thanks to my new (un)lifestyle. And even thought most of my customers have skipped town, I still manage to keep my hair salon up and running because of the lycanthropes prowling around. They know how important good grooming is—especially a certain rogue shape-shifter who is as sexy as he is deadly. Now, if only I could put a leash on my wild teenage son. He’s up to his neck in danger. The stress would kill me if I wasn’t already dead. But my maternal instincts are sill alive and kicking, so no one better mess with my flesh and blood.

Illustrated by Mark Edward Geyer. An Alphabettery of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles gathers together, from all fifteen of the books in the series, the facts, details, story lines, genealogies of her characters, vampiric subjects, geographical influences, and cultural and individual histories, all of which Rice painstakingly researched and invented during her 40-year career--to date--through which she has enchanted and transported us. Here are concise, detailed biographies of every character, no matter how central or minor to the cosmology. Revealed are the intricacies and interconnectedness of characters and subjects throughout. We see how Akasha (Queen of Egypt and the first vampire) is connected to Mekare (the inheritor of the title of the Queen of the Damned), etc., and how these characters connect back to the darkest rebel outlaw of them all, Lestat de Lioncourt ... And we see, as well, the ways in which Rice's vampires have evolved from warring civilizations to isolated covens to a unified race of blood drinkers led by their hero-wanderer and sole monarch, Prince Lestat. For devoted and first-time Anne Rice readers alike, An Alphabettery of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles will be the holy grail of lore and revelation for those who have been, and continue to be, mesmerized by the worlds within worlds of these beloved tales of the undead.

Book excerpt: Don’t trust anyone, not even yourself…. You think you know someone pretty well, until you’re awoken in the middle of the night to the sound of unfamiliar voices and realize your sister’s being swept away by some supernatural creatures who climb in and out of windows and leap from two-story houses like it’s nothing. My parents tried to tell me everything was fine, but when Cadence finally did come back from wherever they’d taken her, I knew there was something unusual about my older sister. Now, her best friend is dead. Her ex-boyfriend is acting bizarre. And I’m afraid I might be next. My name is Cassidy Findley, and I’m pretty sure my sister is a vampire, despite her “co-worker” making every effort to brainwash me into believing otherwise. With the help of my two best friends, we vow to get to the bottom of this before it’s too late, and my sister starts to claim other victims. I love her, but I won’t be turned, nor will I just sit by without doing everything I can to stop her. I can only hope that I’m not too late and that I can trust my own memories. Because I’m pretty sure my sister’s friends are coming for me next. The Chronicles of Cassidy is a retelling of The Clandestine Saga specifically for young adult/teen readers told from the perspective of high schooler Cassidy Findley.

Book VAMPIRE HUSBAND and THE AMERICAN JUSTICE

Download or read book VAMPIRE HUSBAND and THE AMERICAN JUSTICE written by Paru Shiva and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2014-05 with total page 607 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about a woman who had come to America from Kashmir India. She had no knowledge about American culture or American Justice System. She was married in India and her husband brought her to America. In America her husband started abusing her. Being culturally abound, she kept taking abuse on daily basis and kept lying about her bruises and cuts to those who were asking her questions about her injuries. Abuse got worst to the extent that one day her husband tried to kill her. She gained her consciousness after couple of hours when her husband decided to dump her body in the park. Somehow in the morning she managed to escape with her two children. She went to a woman's shelter where she lived for six months. In the shelter they insisted that she had to go to the court to get restraining order for her safety. In that process, her children were taken by the court and were given to that abusive man from whom they had a narrow escape. She was forced to pay child support when she had not taken even a one cent from her home or from her husband after she left. Her two children were given to their father because she was going to school. Judge punished her and her two children for trying to establish their life. Her Children suffered the most because of the Justice System. I wrote this book for two reasons One reason is to tell my children especially my son that I am very sorry for taking my case to American Justice System because his father has kept him in fear. Even my son is adult now but his father is still treating my son like he was treating me and my son is kept in a lot of fear, stress and extreme tension. His father didn't let him complete his education. If he had encouraged my son to complete his education, then he wouldn't be able to control my son's life. That is tearing my heart every day. And second reason is that I want to help a Battered Woman and their children by telling them my story. I was a very private person but that didn't help me. Every battered woman of this country should know that when a man hit his wife is not love. It is a danger sign figure out on time about safety zones for self and for children. My story will guide them to be strong enough to help their children.
