Book Data Protection Implementation Guide

Download or read book Data Protection Implementation Guide written by Brendan Quinn and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2021-09-02 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The complexities of implementing the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) continue to grow as it progresses through new and ever-changing technologies, business models, codes of conduct, and decisions of the supervisory authorities, and the courts. This eminently practical guide to implementing the GDPR – written in an original, problem-solving style by a highly experienced data protection expert with equal knowledge of both law and technology – provides a step-by-step project management approach to building a GDPR-compliant data protection system, assessing, and documenting the risks and then implementing these changes through processes at the operational level. With detailed attention to case law (Member State, ECJ, and ECHR), especially where affecting high-risk areas that have attracted scrutiny, the guidance proceeds systematically through such topics and issues as the following: required documentation, policies, and procedures; risk assessment tools and analysis frameworks; children’s data; employee and health data; international transfers post-Schrems II; data subject rights including the right of access; data retention and erasure; tracking and surveillance; and effects of technologies such as artificial intelligence, biometrics, and machine learning. With its practical examples derived from the author’s experience in building GDPR-compliant software, as well as its analysis of case law and enforcement priorities, this incomparable guide enables company data protection officers and compliance staff to advise on key issues with full awareness of the legal and reputational risks and how to mitigate them. It is also sure to be of immeasurable value to concerned regulators and policymakers at all government levels. “…it's going to be the go to resource for practitioners.” Tom Gilligan, Data Protection Consultant, September 2021 "I purchased this book recently and I’m very glad I did. It’s the textbook I have been waiting for. As someone relatively new to data protection, I was finding it very difficult to find books on the practical side of data protection. This book is very clearly laid out with practical examples and case law given for each topic, which is immensely helpful. I would recommend it to any data protection practitioners." Book Development of Counter Measures to Security Risks from Air Cargo Transport

Download or read book Development of Counter Measures to Security Risks from Air Cargo Transport written by Carla D. Rountree and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The lack of security screening and screening guidelines of cargo traveling by both passenger and all-cargo aircraft is the driving purpose behind this research project: the development of a framework that may be used by individual airports or airlines to analyze various security setups for screening outbound air cargo within an on-airport cargo facility. This was accomplished through airport surveys, a case study at an air cargo facility, and computer simulations testing various setups of security technologies to screen cargo within a facility. Data collected from surveys sent to over 100 of the nation's major airports revealed the lack of security in the air cargo environment and validated the need for this research. Information was obtained on security measures utilized for cargo and personnel, as well as the frequency of cargo screenings and information on the size and setups of cargo facilities. Also, a results comparison between large and small airports was conducted. A case study was performed at a cargo facility within a major U.S. airport in order to gather data pertinent to the simulations used to test the security setups. Information gathered on truck arrivals, the number of flight destinations, security measures in place, as well as the general facility setup was used to form the basis of the simulations. Further research is needed on the effectiveness of many security technologies. With this information, government and aviation officials will be able to use this framework as a step toward achieving a well-rounded plan for ensuring the safety and security of our nation's air cargo.

Book CLOUDY SKIES Captured by Hawk

Download or read book CLOUDY SKIES Captured by Hawk written by Dorothy Callahan and published by Somerwynd Services. This book was released on 2019-06-25 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In one family, generation after generation relied on the magic of one Norse ring to lead them to their destined match. For those who heed its advice, only joy and health follow. But the ring has also been known to foreshadow impending doom. Ignore its truth at your peril…. One particular case has caught the attention of Officer Skyhawk Werner, along with the rest of Syracuse: The Man-handler, a vigilante who assaults innocent men under the guise of protecting women from a supposed attack. But as a policeman, Hawk knows the difference between protection and assault, and this vigilante is no hero. Despite being a rookie, Hawk has every intention of solving this case, a crucial step to becoming a detective. The fact his family's magic heirloom ring warns him of the danger only further incites him to solve it. He can't wait to slap the cuffs on this lawless creature and drag him to justice. After all, Hawk knows what it's like living with someone hiding a secret identity, and he doesn't want anyone suffering from the tortured past he had. One major problem: his captain's orphaned sister wants to help, and his ring seems to think this forbidden woman is his match. Watching her bar customers disappear one by one has alerted Gloria Reyes to a dangerous situation: women are being kidnapped. It's not just from her bar, either—other bartenders have noticed the same thing. Working in an off-duty cop bar should mean Gloria gets to catch snippets of shop talk, but she's not learning fast enough to help. Her self-defense classes provide the security she needs to investigate—despite her cop brother's protestations—but nearly a year later, no one has stopped the abductions, or recovered the missing women. Somebody's got to do something. The problem is, that gorgeous playboy Officer Hawk Werner seems bent on solving the case, automatically making him her enemy. The last thing Gloria needs is her secret crush learning the truth.
