Book Skylab Vectorcardiograph

Download or read book Skylab Vectorcardiograph written by John Lintott and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A vectorcardiograph system was used to measure cardiac electrical activity of Skylab crewmen. This system was chosen because of its data-quantification advantages. The vectorcardiograph was required to meet recommended American Heart Association specifications, to withstand space environmental extremes, and to facilitate data gathering in the weightless environment. The vectorcardiograph system performed without failure, and all projected data were acquired. The appendix lists the design specifications used for the Skylab vectorcardiograph system.

Book Advances in Space Science and Technology

Download or read book Advances in Space Science and Technology written by Frederick I. Ordway and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Space Science and Technology, Volume 11 provides information pertinent to the developments in space science and technology. This book presents the advances in both solar and cosmic X-ray astronomy, all made possible by instruments carried in high altitude balloons, in rockets, and in orbiting satellites. Organized into eight chapters, this volume begins with an overview of solar X-ray phenomena. This text then examines the aspect of manned space flight, with focus on nutrition for astronaut flight crews. Other chapters consider how oxygen may be secured as a result of electrolyzing lunar rocks. This book discusses as well the significance of the Skylab experiments in the context of their disciplines and the part they play in the continuing evolution of space operations. The final chapter deals with the educational satellite, which is one of the most challenging of all practical applications of space technology. This book is a valuable resource for readers who are interested in space science and technology.

Book Principles of Clinical Medicine for Space Flight

Download or read book Principles of Clinical Medicine for Space Flight written by Michael R. Barratt and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-02 with total page 936 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In its first edition, Principles of Clinical Medicine for Space Flight established itself as the authoritative reference on the contemporary knowledge base of space medicine and standards of care for space flyers. It received excellent notices and is used in the curricula of civilian and military training programs and used as a source of questions for the Aerospace Medicine Certifying Examination under the American Board of Preventive Medicine. In the intervening few years, the continuous manning of the International Space Station has both strengthened existing knowledge and uncovered new and significant phenomena related to the human in space. The Second Edition incorporates this information. Gaps in the first edition will be addressed with the addition new and revised chapters. This edition is extensively peer reviewed and represents the most up to date knowledge.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The success of any space flight mission depends not only on advanced technology but also on the health and well-being of crew members. This book, written by an astronaut physician, is the first practical guide to maintaining crew members health in space. It combines research results with practical advice on such problems as bone loss, kidney stones, muscle wasting, motion sickness, loss of balance, orthostatic intolerance, weight loss, and excessive radiation exposure. Additional topics include pre-flight preparation, relevant gender differences, long-duration medical planning, post-flight rehabilitation, and the physiology of extra-vehicular activity. Designed as a handbook for space crews, this text is also an invaluable tool for all the engineers, medical personnel, and scientists who plan and execute space missions.
