Book Six Days of the Creating Process and the Seventh Day of Rest

Download or read book Six Days of the Creating Process and the Seventh Day of Rest written by Vitvan and published by . This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The highest virtue to which man can aspire is to learn that creating process to such an extent that he can identify himself with it. Not with a part of it, but with the whole of it! Become identified with the creating process that we call this universe, this world, this country, this home, or this individual. You will become so identified with the creating process that you will grow in stature and understanding to the point that you become a conscious participant in the process. Then you will discover the order of it - a rigorous, inflexible, undeviating order in this process....Now don't get startled until I go through this process with you. I will show you that the concept 'God' depends upon the creating process and emerges out of it. I am venturing a great deal to give you that statement because there are those who are too identified with their emotional valuations and reactions respecting the old attitude that we call the Aristotelian attitude. They are hanging on to that concept that this is a static creation and that somewhere out in the stratosphere or up in the skies, there is a creator of it. That emotional involvement in that belief is rather frightening in several ways. It frightens one to venture to contradict it even though his contradiction is substantiated with something far more empirically provable, something that can be established on factual, empirical grounds. Even though that is the basis of the contravening of the old Aristotelian attitude and concept, one hesitates to do it because of the awakening and arousing of the animals that are slightly veneered over with what we dignify by the term 'civilization'. This emotional involvement in that old idea and belief is also frightening as it displays such profound stupidity and ignorance. The profundity of the ignorance, and the stupidity that develops out of such ignorance, is frightening because one wonders how long must they suffer before they can be awakened to the understanding of something that is real and true, demonstrable and livable in all respects?

Book The Hardened Heart and Tragic Finitude

Download or read book The Hardened Heart and Tragic Finitude written by Dan O. Via and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-11-05 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has two main theses. First, for the biblical/Christian doctrine of sin the root of the human problem is hardness of heart--the corruption of the core self, of the seat of understanding and will. On the other hand, for an important strand of Greek tragedy the root of human harm-doing is the nonculpable blindness and anxiety of finitude that despite the initial nonculpability lead to evil and suffering. The Hardened Heart shows that these two different interpretations of human existence are amenable to a degree of synthesis that leads to this conclusion: hardness of heart and our ordinary finitude together collude to cause sin in its fullness. The second thesis of this volume is that exegetical studies disclose a deconstructive strand in certain biblical texts that represents the finite world that God created as a source of distress and harm-doing in something like the tragic sense. This subdominant deconstructive position challenges the dominant biblical vision, in which the creation came forth from God's creative word as good without qualification.

Download or read book Until Shiloh Comes written by John Jennings and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2020-07-19 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings a fresh perspective on how important dates in the life of Jesus of Nazareth can be understood in relation to prophecy, number, calendar, religious feasts, the rotation of the priestly divisions and astronomical events of the day. It seeks to reconcile a theoretical framework provided by the Old Testament with actual observations recorded in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. The chronology resonates with Old Testament paradigms established in the Torah, including Sabbath, Tabernacles, and the Flood. It provides a reconciliation of the priestly divisions across the First and Second Temple periods. It fulfils the prophecies of Daniel and Jeremiah and ensures that the words of the Psalmist that ‘All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them cane to be’ are quite literally true. This book provides the first comprehensive chronology for the life of Jesus of Nazareth. It is fully consistent with biblical paradigms and Old Testament prophecy. It reconciles the biblical text to modern scientific and astronomical data. It provides hard scientific evidence to support its conclusions. Like most major scientific breakthroughs, the solution is logical, elegant, and comprehensible. It will stand the test of time.

Book Havdalah

    Book Details:
  • Author : David Birnbaum
  • Publisher : New Paradigm Matrix

  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 397 pages

Download or read book Havdalah written by David Birnbaum and published by New Paradigm Matrix. This book was released on with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In its famous opening chapter, the Hebrew Bible describes creation as consisting of twin acts of making and separating: God creates light on the first day and then separates it from the darkness, just as on the next day God creates the firmament and then sets it in place to separate the waters above from the waters below. And so it follows, at least in theory, that when human beings seek to create through the medium of their own artistry, creativity, or industry—and are obviously unable to mimic the uniquely divine act of creation ex nihilo—they seek to do so through the one part of the process they can imitate: separation. Indeed, the famous quip that the correct way to make a statue of a horse is to take a huge block of marble and then to chip away the parts that don’t look like a horse is just an amusing way of suggesting the same idea: namely, that the human creative process involves the perception of something embedded within something else and then the subsequent liberation of that thing from its former setting so that it may exist on its own and in its own right.

Book The Torah s Vision of Worship

Download or read book The Torah s Vision of Worship written by Samuel E. Balentine and published by Fortress Press. This book was released on 1999-07-30 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A complement to the author's earlier Overtures to Biblical Theology study on prayer, this volume addresses the topic of worship as articulated in the first five books of the Bible. Rather than a history of Israelite religion, Balentine's volume examines the "vision" of worship expounded in the Torah in relation to priesthood, creation, liturgy, and covenant. He concludes by discussing the contemporary situation of experiencing God's hiddenness and a world caught in despair. Balentine proposes that a fresh look at the Torah offers possibilities of counter-imagination and hope.

Book The Pentateuch

    Book Details:
  • Author : Marvin A. Sweeney
  • Publisher : Abingdon Press
  • Release : 2017-11-07
  • ISBN : 142676538X
  • Pages : 144 pages

Download or read book The Pentateuch written by Marvin A. Sweeney and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2017-11-07 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pentateuch, in the Core Biblical Studies series, introduces the Five Books of Moses: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. It combines a purely literary approach to reading the final form of the Pentateuch with a historical reading of the text. The literary approach emphasizes the structural role played by the so-called toledoth (generations) formulae that trace the history of humankind from Adam, through the ancestors of Israel, and finally to Moses and Aaron as the founders of Israel’s priesthood. The historical reading of the text challenges the older model of source analysis to argue instead for a model that traces the composition of the Pentateuch from its origins in northern Israel during the 9th-8th centuries B.C.E., (E), through its subsequent editions in Judah during the 8th-7th centuries B.C.E,. (J and D), and finally through the final redaction in the Persian period, (P). Discussion throughout the volume focuses on how the text presents the origins or early history of Israel and its ideals or how it employs narrative and law to provide the foundations for an ideal national and religious identity. The volume concludes with a brief treatment of how the Pentateuch is read in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
