Download or read book La evoluci n geogr fica de la productividad y el empleo written by Elena Ianchovichina and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2024-03-19 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Meeting the Employment Challenge

Download or read book Meeting the Employment Challenge written by Janine Berg and published by International Labour Organization. This book was released on 2006 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arguing that economic policies in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico favor markets over institutions and the international economy over the domestic - to the detriment of the workforce in those countries - this publication presents extensive evidence in support of placing employment concerns at the center of economic and social policies. The authors discuss the challenges the three countries face in creating employment, as well as the evolution of the labor market since 1990 in terms of the quantity and quality of jobs. They then explore the impact of five policy areas on employment creation: macroeconomic policy, trade liberalization, foreign direct investment, labor market regulations and policies, and social dialogue. Their concluding recommendations offer concrete steps for balancing market forces and policy intervention in the interest of employment growth in a sound economy

Book Men at Work

  • Pages : 268 pages

Download or read book Men at Work written by Cecile Jackson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-23 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gender analysis of development focuses on gender relations, rather than women and men as separate gender categories, but it has necessarily been women-orientated in its concerns with subordination. This work moves gender analysis towards a fuller understanding of men's diverse gendered identities, and how these are implicated in their everyday working lives in developing country contexts. The questions addressed in the papers range from conceptual and methodological issues of definitions and measurement of men's work, to case studies of working men in specific settings, but all are concerned with the recognition of gendered vulnerabilities of (some) men as men, as well as with a re-thinking of gender relations in the light of consideration of the subjectivities of specific groups of men.

Book Finding Solutions for a Post Crisis Society

Download or read book Finding Solutions for a Post Crisis Society written by Teresa Torres-Coronas and published by PUBLICACIONS UNIVERSITAT ROVIRA I VIRGILI. This book was released on 2015-12-28 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 2007 and the economic meltdown caused by the financial crisis, our societies have been evolving in different ways. New political movements have emerged in Southern Europe and new social movements in pursuit of common concerns are playing a more active role in our daily lives. In a parallel way, after the failure to predict the financial crisis, economist and social science researchers seek fresh thinking and new models that can better explain this new reality. Regulations are of critical importance in shaping the welfare of economies and society. Thus, core legal disciplines are exploring the effects of the financial crisis on social rights, labour market regulations, and civil, common law or international law, among others. With no doubt, the economic crisis has deeply impacted our economic, social, political and legal environment. During the last decade, researchers from a wide range of disciplines have been looking for solutions. Now it is time make a side stop on the way and to gather results. The 1rst International SBRLab Conference, Finding solutions for a post-crisis society, is organized by the Social and Business Research Lab (SBRLab), Universitat Rovira i Virgili. It is as an international and virtual meeting point of interdisciplinary research and researchers. The purpose of this international conference is to bring together researchers from management, economics, political, social and legal disciplines in order to present and discuss new trends in their respective fields.

Book Creating Economic Stability Amid Global Uncertainty

Download or read book Creating Economic Stability Amid Global Uncertainty written by Enrique Murillo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-20 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: COVID-19 impacted economic activity in a way that hurt households, businesses, industries, and governments. What followed immediately was a period of high uncertainty, and what’s to come is still unknown. Economists have a lot to learn from this point in history, as different countries have handled this very differently from others. This book journeys through what one emerging economy has done to attempt recovery following immense disruption: Mexico's recovery following the pandemic. This volume offers empirical studies that trace the post-pandemic recovery period in Mexico, providing insight into what this emergent economy went through and did after 2021. The first part of the book examines macroeconomics, such as tax collection, and microeconomics, such as household income. These chapters draw on policy and the actions driving the economic recover in this emergent economy. The second half of the book focuses on what organizations can do to improve internal governance as well as market success. Full of new conceptual and empirical studies, the book explains what it looks like to rebuild an emerging economy. It will appeal to economists, economic scholars, and policymakers trying to make sense of the best ways to move forward following intense period of economic instability.
