Book excerpt: This is a book about boundary surveying. It is written for anyone who is interested in how surveys are performed. Book Georgia Land Surveying History and Law

Download or read book Georgia Land Surveying History and Law written by Farris W. Cadle and published by University of Georgia Press. This book was released on 1991 with total page 597 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Georgia Land Surveying History and Law is the first definitive history and analysis of Georgia’s land system and the laws that govern it. The book’s opening section tells the story of the surveyor’s role in transforming Georgia from a frontier to a bounded, populated, and productive colony and state. Paced by anecdotes of surveyors’ wilderness experiences, the narrative traces the evolution of Georgia’s land subdivision system, beginning with the original, and ultimately impractical, scheme of land granting and rectangular land subdivision under the Trustees of the Georgia Colony. The volume then covers the more flexible but easily abused headright procedure, and the subsequent lottery and succession of systematic, rectangular surveys under which most of the state was laid out and granted in the early nineteenth century. Finally, in lay terms supported by meticulous citation of authority, the volume discusses the legal aspects of land surveying, including the interests that make up land ownership, the transfer of real property, the interpretation of property descriptions, the location of boundaries, riparian and littoral rights, and other topics. The book examines every point concerning boundaries found in any Georgia case or statute. Based solidly on primary sources and the author’s fifteen years of experience in land surveying and title abstracting, Georgia Land Surveying History and Law is an exhaustively researched and scholarly reference that will be useful to surveyors, title attorneys, title abstractors, real estate professionals, geographers, cartographers, historians, and genealogists.

Book Welfare Measurement Bias in Household and On site Surveying of Water based Recreation

Download or read book Welfare Measurement Bias in Household and On site Surveying of Water based Recreation written by Craig Meisner and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2006 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: "Studies comparing household surveys with on-site interceptor surveys have typically accounted for over-sampling avid users in the on-site interceptor surveys (that is, endogenous stratification). However, these studies have typically not accounted for the possibility that the household sample may contain a large presence of zero observations. If a large proportion of the population does not recreate at the site for any value of the price vector, this inflation of zero observations leads to biased welfare estimates and an inadequate comparison with the on-site survey. In this paper, the authors estimate and compare three models which correct for these measurement issues in both the household and on-site surveys. Results from an application to recreation at Lake Sevan (Armenia) indicate that household consumers' surplus is not statistically different from that of the on-site survey once the authors account for zero-inflation in the household sample and endogenous stratification in the on-site sample."--World Bank web site.

Book Preparatory Excavation Works in Mines Volume I

Download or read book Preparatory Excavation Works in Mines Volume I written by Prof. Dr. Bilal Semih Bozdemir and published by Prof. Dr. Bilal Semih Bozdemir. This book was released on with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methodology: The project utilized down-the-hole (DTH) drilling techniques due to the steep slopes and limited access to machinery. Blast designs were customized to ensure stability while avoiding excessive disturbance to the surrounding environment. A combination of emulsion and water-gel explosives was used to ensure safety and effectiveness in the challenging conditions. Challenges: One of the most prominent challenges was the unpredictability of rock conditions, which necessitated ongoing assessments and adjustments to the drilling and blasting parameters. Furthermore, the environmental protocol required strict adherence to minimize impact on local fauna and flora. Results: The successful completion of the pipeline installation not only fulfilled the project timeline but also maintained compliance with environmental standards. This case underscores the necessity of adaptive management strategies in drilling and blasting, particularly in sensitive environments where both safety and ecological considerations are paramount.
