Sólo así tienen sentido los sistemas de garantía de calidad, cuyos referentes y protocolos se encuentran tanto en el Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior y de Investigación, como en el Espacio Iberoamericano del Conocimiento. Este libro contiene una recopilación de esos modelos de aseguramiento y mejora de la calidad, enmarcándolos en su contexto histórico, justo cuando España afronta el debate sobre la necesaria reforma de su legislación universitaria. El reto es conseguir que las Universidades sigan ocupando un lugar de privilegio en el proceso permanente de modernización social, y en respuesta a ese desafío el autor propone una revisión de la calidad docente e investigadora, desde una perspectiva teórico-práctica, a la que aporta su visión crítica y a la vez apologética de los procesos de calidad, junto con una particular reflexión en torno a las claves del futuro.
