Book excerpt: The Gay Blade [Menage and More ManLove: Erotic Alternative Menage a Trois Romance, M/M/M] Grant Damont is a self-made man who became a millionaire by the time he was twenty, and Dano Lisle is a cash-poor phone actor for gay men. When they meet the two are immediately attracted to each other sexually, but Dano can't handle the fact that Grant eats escargot and filet mignon, and Dano eats hamburgers and French fries. But one night when Grant happens to find Dano in a police lineup, he offers him two thousand dollars for sex. Because he's desperate for money, Dano accepts, and they come together in an explosion of sexual need. This starts something between them that can't seem to die until Grant's old lover, Paris Clayton, walks in and opens up an old wound, reminding Grant of all he has lost. Is Paris back to renew an old love, or to cruelly steal Dano away, and ruin Grant's chance for real happiness? ** Dirty Moon [Siren Allure ManLove: Erotic Alternative Fantasy Romance, M/M, shape-shifters, HEA] It all begins when Conor Savage goes on a camping trip with his friend, Jake, and they begin talking about the demons in their lives. Although Conor is afraid of the dark, he learns Jake has a much bigger problem-the moon. Later, when his friend begins to act weird, Conor's fear of the dark is realized when Jake turns into a monster beneath the moon and attacks him. At the next full moon, Conor learns that he has been captured by the sultry, sexy little demon called Devilet, Lady Luna's little sister who plays childish games of evil. When Conor finds himself under this little vamp's control, his personality changes. He becomes sexually hungry and goes after one of the men in his office. This sets the stage for a dark, twisted tale of evil disguised as a bold, handsome, brazen man who lives under a curse called Vanity. Note: This book contains forced seduction. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

Download or read book The World Is Our Home written by Jeffrey J. Folks and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2014-07-15 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the early 1970s southern fiction has been increasingly attentive to social issues, including the continuing struggles for racial justice and gender equality, the loss of a sense of social community, and the decline of a coherent regional identity. The essays in The World Is Our Home focus on writers who have explicitly addressed social and cultural issues in their fiction and drama, including Dorothy Allison, Horton Foote, Ernest J. Gaines, Jill McCorkle, Walker Percy, Lee Smith, William Styron, Alice Walker, and many others. The contributors provide valuable insights into the transformation of southern culture over the past thirty years and probe the social and cultural divisions that persist. The collection makes an important case for the centrality of social critique in contemporary southern fiction.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today's moviegoers and critics generally consider some Hollywood products--even some blockbusters--to be legitimate works of art. But during the first half century of motion pictures very few Americans would have thought to call an American movie "art." Up through the 1950s, American movies were regarded as a form of popular, even lower-class, entertainment. By the 1960s and 1970s, however, viewers were regularly judging Hollywood films by artistic criteria previously applied only to high art forms. In Hollywood Highbrow, Shyon Baumann for the first time tells how social and cultural forces radically changed the public's perceptions of American movies just as those forces were radically changing the movies themselves. The development in the United States of an appreciation of film as an art was, Baumann shows, the product of large changes in Hollywood and American society as a whole. With the postwar rise of television, American movie audiences shrank dramatically and Hollywood responded by appealing to richer and more educated viewers. Around the same time, European ideas about the director as artist, an easing of censorship, and the development of art-house cinemas, film festivals, and the academic field of film studies encouraged the idea that some American movies--and not just European ones--deserved to be considered art.

Jono knows they can't cede any more territory if they want to win the god pack civil war spilling into the streets of New York City. But the souls of werecreatures are free for the taking when demons come to town and angels sing a warning no one can ignore. When Jono's worst fear comes to life, and he loses the one person he can't live without, the only option left is to fight.
