Book Singular Value Decomposition Techniques for Multiuser Detection Receivers microform

Download or read book Singular Value Decomposition Techniques for Multiuser Detection Receivers microform written by Sujit Sen and published by Library and Archives Canada = Bibliothèque et Archives Canada. This book was released on 2004 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designing multiuser detection (MUD) receivers with low complexity and near single-user performance has generated a great deal of interest in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. This thesis proposes novel approaches, primarily based on the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), for designing multiuser detection receivers for CDMA systems with and without the use of multiple antennas. A new transmitter precoding scheme is proposed for the uplink of a single-input single-output (SISO) direct spread (DS) CDMA Rayleigh fading channel where non-orthogonal spreading codes are used. This technique is based on the SVD and can be analytically shown to achieve the single user bound. The application of the SVD to a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) DS-CDMA Rayleigh fading channel with forward error correction (FEC) codes is subsequently investigated. An iterative (turbo) multiuser detection algorithm is proposed for this MIMO multiple access system. The proposed MUD receiver is of low complexity when compared to the optimal MUD receiver and has near single-user performance in the presence of long-term power control. The salient feature of our iterative MIMO MUD receiver is that it combines SVD filtering, FEC coding and spreading codes. It is demonstrated that the proposed iterative MIMO MUD receiver can also be derived by applying the sum-product algorithm to the corresponding factor graph. The extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart analysis is shown to be accurate in studying the convergence behaviour and estimating the coded bit error rate (BER) for the iterative MIMO MUD receiver. A gear-shift MUD receiver is then introduced where the receiver is allowed to iteratively select a particular algorithm from a group of MUD algorithms in order to achieve a target performance level in the least amount of time.

Book Advances in Mobile and Wireless Communications

Download or read book Advances in Mobile and Wireless Communications written by István Frigyes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-05-31 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lectori Salutem! This is another book – among the myriads – dealing with wireless communications. The reader might be aware: this topic is really among bestsellers in technology – bestsellers in technology itself and that in technical literature. Communications is one of the leading techniques in information society and mobile/wireless communications is one among the (maybe not more than two with optics the second) leading techniques in communications. Development of wireless communications was and is really spec- cular in the last decade of the 20th and first decade of the 21st century. Such topics as MIMO, wireless networking, security in the technological field, new business models in the service providing field, various applications in the users’ side, to mention a few only, were undergoing an unprecedented evolution. So it is not surprising that the number of conferences and the number of books in this field grows and grows, in a nearly unbounded way.

Book Cooperative Work and Coordinative Practices

Download or read book Cooperative Work and Coordinative Practices written by Kjeld Schmidt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-01-27 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information technology has been used in organisational settings and for organisational purposes such as accounting, for a half century, but IT is now increasingly being used for the purposes of mediating and regulating complex activities in which multiple professional users are involved, such as in factories, hospitals, architectural offices, and so on. The economic importance of such coordination systems is enormous but their design often inadequate. The problem is that our understanding of the coordinative practices for which these systems are developed is deficient, leaving systems developers and software engineers to base their designs on commonsensical requirements analyses. The research reflected in this book addresses these very problems. It is a collection of articles which establish a conceptual foundation for the research area of Computer-Supported Cooperative Work.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with various aspects of scientific numerical computing. No at tempt was made to be complete or encyclopedic. The successful solution of a numerical problem has many facets and consequently involves different fields of computer science. Computer numerics- as opposed to computer algebra- is thus based on applied mathematics, numerical analysis and numerical computation as well as on certain areas of computer science such as computer architecture and operating systems. Applied Mathemalies I I I Numerical Analysis Analysis, Algebra I I Numerical Computation Symbolic Computation I Operating Systems Computer Hardware Each chapter begins with sample situations taken from specific fields of appli cation. Abstract and general formulations of mathematical problems are then presented. Following this abstract level, a general discussion about principles and methods for the numerical solution of mathematical problems is presented. Relevant algorithms are developed and their efficiency and the accuracy of their results is assessed. It is then explained as to how they can be obtained in the form of numerical software. The reader is presented with various ways of applying the general methods and principles to particular classes of problems and approaches to extracting practically useful solutions with appropriately chosen numerical software are developed. Potential difficulties and obstacles are examined, and ways of avoiding them are discussed. The volume and diversity of all the available numerical software is tremendous.
