Book Nanomaterials via Single Source Precursors

Download or read book Nanomaterials via Single Source Precursors written by Allen W. Apblett and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2022-02-19 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanomaterials via Single-Source Precursors: Synthesis, Processing and Applications presents recent results and overviews of synthesis, processing, characterization and applications of advanced materials for energy, electronics, biomedicine, sensors and aerospace. A variety of processing methods (vapor, liquid and solid-state) are covered, along with materials, including metals, oxides, semiconductor, sulfides, selenides, nitrides, and carbon-based materials. Production of quantum dots, nanoparticles, thin films and composites are described by a collection of international experts. Given the ability to customize the phase, morphology, and properties of target materials, this "rational approach to synthesis and processing is a disruptive technology for electronic, energy, structural and biomedical (nano)materials and devices. The use of single-source chemical precursors for materials processing technology allows for intimate elemental mixing and hence production of complex materials at temperatures well below traditional physical methods and those involving direct combination of elements. The use of lower temperatures enables thin-film deposition on lightweight polymer substrates and reduces damage to complex devices structures such as used in power, electronics and sensors. - Discusses new approaches to synthesis or single-source precursors (SSPs) and the concept of rational design of materials - Includes materials processing of SSPs in the design of new materials and novel devices - Provides comprehensive coverage of the subject (materials science and chemistry) as related to SSPs and the range of potential applications

Book Low Pressure Chemical Vapour Deposition of ZnO Layers for Thin film Solar Cells Temperature induced Morphological Changes

Download or read book Low Pressure Chemical Vapour Deposition of ZnO Layers for Thin film Solar Cells Temperature induced Morphological Changes written by and published by . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zinc oxide (ZnO) is now often used as a transparent conductive oxide for contacts in thin-film silicon solar cells. This paper presents a study of ZnO material deposited by the low-pressure chemical vapour deposition technique, in a pressure range below the pressures usually applied for the deposition of this kind of material. A temperature series has been deposited, showing a morphological transition around 150 °C. ZnO samples deposited with temperatures just higher than this transition are constituted of large grains highly oriented along a single crystallographic orientation. These "monocrystals" lead to low resistivity values, showing a clear correlation between the size of the surface grains and the electrical performance of corresponding films. Additionally, these large grains also yield ZnO layers with high transparency and high light-scattering power, specially suitable for solar cell technology based on thin-film silicon.

Book Amorphous and Liquid Semiconductors

Download or read book Amorphous and Liquid Semiconductors written by J. Tauc and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solid state physics after solving so successfully many fundamental problems in perfect or slightly imperfect crystals, tried in recent years to attack problems associated with large disorder with the aim to understand the consequences of the lack of the long-range order. Semiconductors are much more changed by disorder than metals or insulators, and appear to be the most suitable materials for fundamental work. Considerable exploratory work on amorphous and liquid semiconductors was done by the Leningrad School since the early fifties. In recent years, much research in several countries was directed to deepen the understanding of the structural, electronic, optical, vibrational, magnetic and other proper ties of these materials and to possibly approach the present level of under standing of crystalline semiconductors. This effort was stimulated not only by purely scientific interest but also by the possibility of new applications from which memory devices in the general sense are perhaps the most challenging. The research met with serious difficulties which are absent in crystals.
