Book The RF in RFID

Download or read book The RF in RFID written by Daniel Dobkin and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2012-11-01 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explains how UHF tags and readers communicate wirelessly. It gives an understanding of what limits the read range of a tag, how to increase it (and why that might result in breaking the law), and the practical things that need to be addressed when designing and implementing RFID technology. Avoiding heavy math but giving breadth of coverage with the right amount of detail, it is an ideal introduction to radio communications for engineers who need insight into how tags and readers work. New to this edition: • Examples of near-metal antenna techniques • Discussion of the wakeup challenge for battery-assisted tags, with a BAT architecture example • Latest development of protocols: EPC Gen 1.2.0 • Update 18000-6 discussion with battery-assisted tags, sensor tags, Manchester tags and wakeup provisions Named a 2012 Notable Computer Book for Computer Systems Organization by Computing Reviews The only book to give an understanding of radio communications, the underlying technology for radio frequency identification (RFID) Praised for its readability and clarity, it balances breadth and depth of coverage New edition includes latest developments in chip technology, antennas and protocols

Book DIGITAL COMMUNICATION

Download or read book DIGITAL COMMUNICATION written by KUMAR, M. SATHISH and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book, organised in ten chapters, comprehensively presents the concepts pertaining to digital communication in a very simplified manner. Mathematical intricacies of ideas which form the bedrock of digital communication such as sampling, baseband data transmission, information theory, error control coding, and modulation are presented in a style understandable to an undergraduate student. Each and every topic, no matter how simple it seems, is followed by solved examples. Besides, additional information on certain topics are provided in appropriate annexures. Thus, the flow of the topics is not interrupted with unnecessary deviations from the viewpoint of an average student, whereas at the same time, the brighter students can go through these annexures to gain extra knowledge. The book is primarily intended for the undergraduate students of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, and Telecommunication Engineering offered in various Indian universities. The text is also of immense use to the aspirants of AMIE exam and AMIETE exam. KEY FEATURES • Solved problems and exercises at the end of each chapter are provided from practice point of view. • Chapter-end references are given for further exploration of several advanced topics touched upon in the text. • Numerous figures and tables are included to help grasp the concepts discussed.

Book A Generalized Representation of Single Sideband Signals for Communications Systems

Download or read book A Generalized Representation of Single Sideband Signals for Communications Systems written by Leon W. Couch and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Part I a new approach to single-sideband (SSB) signal design and analysis for communications systems is developed. It is shown that SSB signals may be synthesized by use of the conjugate functions of any entire function where the arguments are the real modulating signal and its Hilbert transform. Entire functions are displayed which give the SSB amplitude-modulated (SSB-AM), SSB frequency-modulated (SSB-FM), SSB envelope-detectable, and SSB square-law detectable signals. Both upper and lower SSB signals are obtained by a simple sign change. Furthermore, there are an infinite number of other types of SSB signals that may be obtained from this generalized representation. In Part II this entire generating function concept, along with analytic signal theory, is used to obtain generalized formulae for the properties of SSB signals. Formulae are obtained for (1) equivalent realizations for a given SSB signal, (2) the condition for a suppressed-carrier SSB signal, (3) autocorrelation function, (4) bandwidth (using various definitions), (5) efficiency of the SSB signal, and (6) peak-to-average power ratio. The amplitude of the discrete carrier term is found to be equal to the absolute value of the entire generating function evaluated at the origin provided the modulating signal is AC coupled. Examples of the use of these formulae are displayed where these properties are evaluated for stochastic modulation. In summary, the entire generating function concept is a new tool for synthesis and analysis of single-sideband signals. (Author).
