Book Single Chamber Processing

Download or read book Single Chamber Processing written by Y.I. Nissim and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1993-02-15 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Single chamber processing has attracted the attention of a number of researchers as well as industries as an alternative processing "philosophy" to complement or even replace the stringent environment of micro- and optoelectronics device fabrication. Up till now single chamber processing has been an elusive manufacturing objective throughout the history of integrated circuit technology. With the emergence of integrated processing tools in recent years, significant segments for continuous fabrication processes have been successfully realised and their potential has already innovated the industry. The 14 papers in this volume cover topics such as: The background of this approach and up-dated status; Design and concepts of relevant cluster tools equipment; Specific process modules such as deposition chambers (CVD, RTCVD, UVCVD, ...) annealing or etching reactors; and Standardization efforts. The work will provide both a stimulus for future research in this field, as well as useful reference material on the new technology trends in microelectronic device manufacturing technology.

Book The Impact of Food Bioactives on Health

Download or read book The Impact of Food Bioactives on Health written by Kitty Verhoeckx and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-04-29 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Infogest” (Improving Health Properties of Food by Sharing our Knowledge on the Digestive Process) is an EU COST action/network in the domain of Food and Agriculture that will last for 4 years from April 4, 2011. Infogest aims at building an open international network of institutes undertaking multidisciplinary basic research on food digestion gathering scientists from different origins (food scientists, gut physiologists, nutritionists...). The network gathers 70 partners from academia, corresponding to a total of 29 countries. The three main scientific goals are: Identify the beneficial food components released in the gut during digestion; Support the effect of beneficial food components on human health; Promote harmonization of currently used digestion models Infogest meetings highlighted the need for a publication that would provide researchers with an insight into the advantages and disadvantages associated with the use of respective in vitro and ex vivo assays to evaluate the effects of foods and food bioactives on health. Such assays are particularly important in situations where a large number of foods/bioactives need to be screened rapidly and in a cost effective manner in order to ultimately identify lead foods/bioactives that can be the subject of in vivo assays. The book is an asset to researchers wishing to study the health benefits of their foods and food bioactives of interest and highlights which in vitro/ex vivo assays are of greatest relevance to their goals, what sort of outputs/data can be generated and, as noted above, highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the various assays. It is also an important resource for undergraduate students in the ‘food and health’ arena.

Download or read book Bioelectrochemical Oxidation Processes for Wastewater Treatment written by Maulin P. Shah and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-09-30 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Toxic and hazardous pollutant treatment of wastewater is a longstanding challenge faced in every region across the globe. Growing urbanization, combined with the increased use of detergent soaps, cleansing agents with new formulations, chemical fertilizers, and pesticides, has greatly added to the global wastewater pollution burden. Conventional methods of wastewater treatment are somewhat successful in decontamination, but these current techniques require more time and energy than newer, novel techniques. Bioelectrochemical oxidation systems (BEOSs), for example, have greatly aided in wastewater treatment sustainability and efficiency, and offer promising solutions for different types of energy recovery options. Bioelectrochemical Oxidation Processes for Wastewater Treatment examines the latest hybrid technologies utilizing algae, bacteria, and various other chemical agents, and discusses the major challenges in large-scale operations, as well as forward-looking techniques to make treatment processes even more sustainable in the future. It: Discusses the fundamentals of biological wastewater treatment and bioelectrochemical oxidation systems, as well as their advantages and limitations. Presents the recent trends and developments in bioelectrochemical oxidation systems for achieving environmentally sustainable wastewater treatment. Describes carbon capture and resource recovery from wastewater using bioelectrochemical oxidation systems. Addresses the challenges of large-scale implementation of bioelectrochemical oxidation systems in existing and new wastewater treatment plants.

Book Science and Technology of Thin Film Superconductors 2

Download or read book Science and Technology of Thin Film Superconductors 2 written by R.D. McConnell and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This conference is the second on the Science and Technology of Thin Film Superconductors. It proved to be an excellent forum for these specialists in thin film superconductivity. The conference, held April 30-May 4, 1990, in Denver, Colorado, hosted 170 researchers from 17 countries. The response to the conference again emphasized the need for a meeting devoted to the science and technology of thin film superconductors. The breadth of artic1es and advances made in this technology since the first conference in November 1988, reflect on the maturity of the topic. These proceedings contain artic1es on deposition methods by sputtering, e1ectron beam evaporation, resistive evaporation, laser ablation, chemical vapor deposition and electrodeposition, and on other studies related to substrates, thermodynamics of formation, grain boundaries and weak links, characterization, and some practical applications. The program committee was pleased with the quality of the publications and contributed articles. This conference was highlighted by a fuU day dedicated to presentations from the federallaboratories, discussing a wide range of topics on the fabrication, characterization, and theory of high-temperature superconductor thin films. Other highlights at the conference dealt with (1) critical parameters or problems in measuring critical current density and other important parameters, and (2) problems of scale-up, reproducibility, and amenability to device fabrication. It became evident from the presentations that three issues were developing into critical issues for the ultimate practical application of high temperature superconductor thin films.
