Book excerpt: From the earliest meetings of the Civil Rights Movement to offering the benediction for the first African American President of the United States, Rev. But, more important, he has been a voice that speaks truth to power--inspiring change that moves us forward. Book Sing the Lord s Song in a Strange Land

Download or read book Sing the Lord s Song in a Strange Land written by Sally Hartikka and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-10-17 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Suddenly, a noise at the window made her look up. She froze with terror as she saw several natives approach the door. Yelling furiously, they pushed it open with great force, and with unbelievable violence, one of them clubbed Ebenezer on the head; he slumped to the floor, blood oozing from the wound. He made no noise, nor did he move again." Thus begins the saga of Elizabeth Hanson and her children on their long and heartbreaking trek and captivity during the French and Indian War. There has been much written about this story, but the author has discovered that some of the material is incorrect. She has undertaken extensive research and has been able to rectify many of the mistakes; however, there is still much information missing. Thus, she has written this book as a novel, using the best information available to fill in the gaps.

Book How Can We Sing the Lord s Song in a Strange Land

Download or read book How Can We Sing the Lord s Song in a Strange Land written by Moji Ruele and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2010-07 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together the 3 traditions of African, Land and Liberation contextual theologies. It attempts to show how the acquisition of land was influenced by ethnic/racial power relations in pre and post independence Botswana. The study uses data collected through questionnaire, interviews and participant observation to show Basarwa/San socio-economic, religious and cultural perceptions of the land, and how its lose impacts negatively on their lives by re-reading Psalm, 137: 1-4. Here, 2 things are done specifically: Looking at the socio-economic and history of Judah, contextualise this to the Basarwa setting of "homelessness" and appropriate the God of liberation in their struggle for recognition. It recognizes the relationship between landlessness and oppression in that since the coming of dominant cattle ranchers, indigenous, nomadic hunting and gathering Basarwa have been losing the land and veldt products, through policies such as Tribal Grazing Land Policy and New Policy on Agricultural Development, which gave exclusive rights of the land to the former. The study found that Basarwa material culture and religious artefacts have been adversely affected in this process..
