Book The Ear and the Voice

Download or read book The Ear and the Voice written by Alfred Tomatis and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2005 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tomatis was one of the earliest pioneers in the field now known as psychoacoustics, and his book L'Oreille et la Voix is considered a classic by many in that field. Although Tomatis initially applied his theories to vocal performance, it soon became clear that the principles he uncovered could also have a profoundly beneficial influence on actors, painters, writers, and those suffering from physical and psychological disabilities. This translation makes Tomatis's discoveries accessible for a broad audience, and is divided into three parts that can be read separately or together. Part I introduces Tomatis's general concepts as they apply to the art of singing. Part II is a basic introduction to the anatomy of the ear and how its functions relate to the brain and the rest of the body. It also provides the reader with a metaphor-free vocabulary for discussing anatomy with doctors and other concerned professionals. Part III gives practical advice on singing, posture, and matters pertaining primarily to musicians. A list of the latest English-language books on the subject has been appended. The Ear and the Voice is for everyone who wants to understand and experience the benefits of conscious listening. Download or read book Sing from Your Core written by Jole Berlage-Buccellati and published by SCHOTT MUSIC GmbH & Company KG / Schott Campus. This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses singers of all kinds, from professionals to amateurs. It is about empowerment. The voice is different from any other instrument because it is a part of your body - emanating from your core. You are the instrument. The core principle of this book is that joyful and successful singing has a lot more to do with body coherence, vital energy connection and embodied communication than with viewing the voice mostly from a functional perspective. Your creativity and the desire to communicate deeply are grounded in your emotions, your joy, in stillness and in the truths of your vocal body. Attempting to manipulate or force your instrument into a preconceived interpretation or preconceived vocal format often fails to produce the desired results. This book encourages you to experiment with surrender, involvement and body awareness. One of the many benefits of this approach is that it can help to reduce performance anxiety and stage fright. If you want to express with your own unique vocal quality, then this book is for you. If you are curious about your expressive potential, if you are curious about what your next inspirational step might be, this book is for you.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This easy-to-read and highly accessible Tipbook has been written in close collaboration with classical and non-classical singers and teachers, therapists and other experts. Tipbook Vocals doesn't teach you how to sing, but it supplies you with valuable, practical information that will help you to understand and extend the possibilities of your voice, to appreciate and evaluate input from voice teachers and coaches, and to have easier access to other literature on the subject. Perfect for singers of any style and at any level, it covers: singing well, registers and voice types; voice care; lyrics; microphone selection; and much more. "Interesting, brief, clearly written ... a useful introductory overview. (Tipbook Vocals) certainly does compile useful information in an extremely well-condensed, abbreviated and accessible form. The opinions expressed in the book ... generally reflect high-quality standards of practice accepted throughout the international community of voice experts." (Robert Sataloff, MD, DMA; Journal of Voice) "This book is a veritable giant of information, and should be in every teacher's and professional's library, as well as the advanced student's. I'm happy to recommend it." (Henry Howell, Australian Music Teacher Magazine) "There's something for all kinds of singers, teachers, therapists and doctors, whether your interest in singing is artistic, anatomical or both. I loved it and it's a book I'd have been proud to have written myself." (Jayne Comins, The Singer Magazine) "While the book provides a wealth of information for the singer, its small profile also encourages its owner to carry it along as a practical reference for the college student, the elementary and secondary classroom or the church or community choir musician. For even the well-trained professional, this Tipbook may offer an alternative view or serve to refresh a stale bag o' tricks." (Karen Nevins, Bella Voce, ACDA Michigan) "A quick reference to confront problems and questions; ten easy to grasp chapters, and a great glossary and index of musical words, terminology and definitions, for solo singers as well choir members, background vocalists and other singers in any style of music and at any level or age."(Barry Rudolph, Music Connection)

Download or read book Computer aided Ear training written by Susanna Király and published by BoD - Books on Demand. This book was released on 2016-07-14 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My doctoral thesis has involved two related tasks. The first was to analyse Zoltán Kodály’s philosophy of music education and, on this basis, to develop a computer-assisted instruction method (CAI) for teaching music theory and solfège (ear-training). The second task was to experiment with the effectiveness of this method and compare it with traditional approaches to teaching. Many student find music theory and ear training difficult. During the 1990s, in connection with my licentiate thesis “Solfège in the Computer Classroom” (2000), I initiated this research project, and developed a CAI method for teaching music theory and solfège. I wanted to see just how useful Kodály’s approach could be in computer-aided teaching and learning. The results show that the Kodály approach can be successfully applied to the development of a computer-aided solfège programme and the Kodály system is applicable to new learning environments and teaching practices. In music education CAI is an area with great potential for development. It offers multiple learning options and can enhance students’ motivation to study music theory and ear-training; some of the learning outcomes were even better than with the traditional ways of learning. The results also show, however, that the teacher-pupil interaction is essential in a computer-aided learning programme.
