This book was released on 1974 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report is basically a source book for individuals who are actually concerned with the problem of constructing alternative plans for developing urban areas. It reviews the methods and computer models that are currently available to the planner or engineer for developing water and related land resources. These reviews discuss the availability and usefulness of several models; give a brief technical description of each model, including the input data required; and indicate the amount and type of computer hardware needed to use each model. The report is directed mainly toward water related problems. Thus, most of the methods discussed deal with urban drainage, wastewater management, flood routing, reservoir operation, water supply, flood zoning, and the social and economic aspects associated with these areas. Download or read book Kinematic Hydrology and Modelling written by M.E. Meadows and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1986-04-01 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Requiring little mathematical background, the book provides tools for hydraulic engineers and hydrologists concerned with estimating catchment runoff and floods. It condenses widely spread research literature on the subject of kinematic hydrology and emphasizes basic principles so it should be of value to students and teachers in these areas. The book is comprehensive and yet written in a basic way enabling practitioners to pick out relevant sections and apply them to real problems. It also contains a valuable collection of charts and equations as well as simple computer programs for modelling catchment runoff and stream flow using the kinematic equations.A wide spectrum of hydrological processes can be analyzed using the kinematic equations. Overland flow, stream flow and even groundwater flow can be studied. A review of the assumptions behind the theory indicates where alternative equations are more accurate. The book thus provides tools for hydrological simulation, stormwater system design and catchment management. It will be particularly useful for professors and students in postgraduate and senior years in hydrology, and practicing engineers and hydrologists in stormwater, flood and water resources fields.

Book excerpt: Watershed modeling is at the heart of modern hydrology, supplying rich information that is vital to addressing resource planning, environmental, and social problems. Even in light of this important role, many books relegate the subject to a single chapter while books devoted to modeling focus only on a specific area of application. Recognizing the

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various modeling methodologies are available to aid planning and operational decision making: this book synthesises these, with an emphasis on methodologies applicable in data scarce regions, such as developing countries. Problems included in each chapter, and supported by links to available online data sets and modeling tools, engage the reader with practical applications of the models. Academic researchers in the fields of hydrology, climate change, and environmental science and hazards, and professionals and policy-makers working in hazard mitigation, remote sensing and hydrological engineering will find this an invaluable resource. This volume is the second in a collection of four books on flood disaster management theory and practice within the context of anthropogenic climate change. The others are: Floods in a Changing Climate: Extreme Precipitation by Ramesh Teegavarapu, Floods in a Changing Climate: Inundation Modelling by Giuliano Di Baldassarre and Floods in a Changing Climate: Risk Management by Slodoban P. Simonović.
