Book SIMPO 1 Entity Model for Determining the Qualitative Impact of Personnel Policies

Download or read book SIMPO 1 Entity Model for Determining the Qualitative Impact of Personnel Policies written by Elizabeth Niehl and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The entity simulation model described in this publication is an initial product of the operations research efforts conducted by the Statistical Research and Analysis Division, BESRL under SIMPO-I Task. The model was designed for integration into the more generalized SIMPO-I simulation package for evaluation of personnel and manpower policy alternatives across the Army's major personnel functions. The entity model concentrates on the procurement, selection, and allocation aspects of the personnel system. The SIMPO-I, when completed, will consist of a relatively comprehensive computerized model of the Army personnel subsystem--incorporating a simulation model and a library of computer programs. Other modules to be developed, have appropriate interfaces with the entity module, will be concerned with such personnel functions as distribution, tour rotation, promotion, and training. Representative applications of an entity model in a simulated system are discussed. A detailed description of the general simulation program is given together with a manual for use of the program in the Appendix to the report. (Author).

Book Summary of SIMPO I Model Development

Download or read book Summary of SIMPO I Model Development written by Pauline T. Olson and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents a study and evaluation of the Army's personnel subsystem with respect to effectiveness of its policies in assignment, training, utilization, and contingency readiness of specialized personnel. The SIMPO-I effort has been directed to development of a model simulation package for assessing quantitatively the cumulative impact of personnel policy changes on the allocation, distribution, and utilization of Army personnel with special attention to effects of policies on deployability. The present publication reports on progress in the production and planning of computerized models for use in dealing with the manpower system problems and for evaluating alternative personnel policies.

Book Multi Agent Based Simulation

Download or read book Multi Agent Based Simulation written by Scott Moss and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-01-10 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to investigating and developing the synergy between software engineering for multi-agent systems and agent-based social simulation; it originates from the Second International Workshop on Multi-Agend-Based Simulation, MABS 2000, held in Boston, MA, USA in July 2000, in conjunction with ICAMS 2000. Besides the thoroughly revised full papers accepted for presentation at the workshop, two invited papers and an introductory survey by one of the volume editors have been added in order to round off the scope and achieve complete coverage of all relevant topics. The book competently surveys the state of the art in the area by offering topical sections on model design issues, applications, simulating social relations and processes, and formal approaches.

Book Precolumbian Water Management

Download or read book Precolumbian Water Management written by Lisa Joyce Lucero and published by University of Arizona Press. This book was released on 2006-11-30 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among ancient Mesoamerican and Southwestern peoples, water was as essential as maize for sustenance and was a driving force in the development of complex society. Control of water shaped the political, economic, and religious landscape of the ancient Americas, yet it is often overlooked in Precolumbian studies. Now one volume offers the latest thinking on water systems and their place within the ancient physical and mental language of the region. Precolumbian Water Management examines water management from both economic and symbolic perspectives. Water management facilities, settlement patterns, shrines, and water-related imagery associated with civic-ceremonial and residential architecture provide evidence that water systems pervade all aspects of ancient society. Through analysis of such data, the contributors seek to combine an understanding of imagery and the religious aspects of water with its functional components, thereby presenting a unified perspective of how water was conceived, used, and represented in ancient greater Mesoamerica. The collection boasts broad chronological and geographical coverageÑfrom the irrigation networks of Teotihuacan to the use of ritual water technology at Casas GrandesÑthat shows how procurement and storage systems were adapted to local conditions. The articles consider the mechanisms that were used to build upon the sacredness of water to enhance political authority through time and space and show that water was not merely an essential natural resource but an important spiritual one as well, and that its manipulation was socially far more complex than might appear at first glance. As these papers reveal, an understanding of materials associated with water can contribute much to the ways that archaeologists study ancient cultural systems. Precolumbian Water Management underscores the importance of water management research and the need to include it in archaeological projects of all types.
