The book highlights novel methods and applications in the field and ensures that designers and other members of the construction industry gain access to the new results and procedures.

Book Steel Designers Manual

Download or read book Steel Designers Manual written by SCI (Steel Construction Institute) and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-06-27 with total page 1410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2010 the then current European national standards for building and construction were replaced by the EN Eurocodes, a set of pan-European model building codes developed by the European Committee for Standardization. The Eurocodes are a series of 10 European Standards (EN 1990 – EN 1999) that provide a common approach for the design of buildings, other civil engineering works and construction products. The design standards embodied in these Eurocodes will be used for all European public works and are set to become the de-facto standard for the private sector in Europe, with probable adoption in many other countries. This classic manual on structural steelwork design was first published in 1955, since when it has sold many tens of thousands of copies worldwide. For the seventh edition of the Steel Designers' Manual all chapters have been comprehensively reviewed, revised to ensure they reflect current approaches and best practice, and brought in to compliance with EN 1993: Design of Steel Structures (the so-called Eurocode 3).

Book Hot and Cold Jewelry Connections

Download or read book Hot and Cold Jewelry Connections written by Kieu Gray and published by Kalmbach Books. This book was released on 2013-11-19 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hot and Cold Jewelry Connections is the perfect tool for encouraging jewelry makers to branch out and develop new skills. Kieu Pham Gray’s unique approach to metalwork begins with a design concept, then shows how to execute it using either cold connections (riveting, tabbing, wire wrapping), or hot connections (easy soldering with a small butane torch), teaching essential techniques of both along the way. These hot and cold options help jewelry makers understand how to evaluate and choose the right technique for their jewelry pieces based on their desired end result.

Book Response of Structures Under Extreme Loading

Download or read book Response of Structures Under Extreme Loading written by Venkatesh K.R. Kodur and published by DEStech Publications, Inc. This book was released on 2015-07-01 with total page 1014 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Original research on performance of materials under a wide variety of blasts, impacts, severe loading and fireCritical information for protecting buildings and civil infrastructure against human attack, deterioration and natural disastersTest and design data for new types of concrete, steel and FRP materials This technical book is devoted to the empirical and theoretical analysis of how structures and the materials constituting them perform under the extreme conditions of explosions, fire, and impact. Each of the 119 fully refereed presentations is published here for the first time and was selected because of its original contribution to the science and engineering of how materials, bridges, buildings, tunnels and their components, such as beams and pre-stressed parts, respond to potentially destructive forces. Emphasis is placed on translating empirical data to design recommendations for strengthening structures, including strategies for fire and earthquake protection as well as blast mitigation. Technical details are provided on the development and behavior of new resistant materials, including reinforcements, especially for concrete, steel and their composites.

Book Design of Steel Concrete Composite Structures Using High Strength Materials

Download or read book Design of Steel Concrete Composite Structures Using High Strength Materials written by J.Y. Richard Liew and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2021-08-04 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-strength materials offer alternatives to frequently used materials for high-rise construction. A material of higher strength means a smaller member size is required to resist the design load. However, high-strength concrete is brittle, and high-strength thin steel plates are prone to local buckling. A solution to overcome such problems is to adopt a steel-concrete composite design in which concrete provides lateral restraint to steel plates against local buckling, and steel plates provide confinement to high-strength concrete. Design of Steel-Concrete Composite Structures Using High Strength Materials provides guidance on the design of composite steel-concrete structures using combined high-strength concretes and steels. The book includes a database of over 2,500 test results on composite columns to evaluate design methods, and presents calculations to determine critical parameters affecting the strength and ductility of high-strength composite columns. Finally, the book proposes design methods for axial-moment interaction curves in composite columns. This allows a unified approach to the design of columns with normal- and high-strength steel concrete materials. This book offers civil engineers, structural engineers, and researchers studying the mechanical performance of composite structures in the use of high-strength materials to design and construct advanced tall buildings. - Presents the design and construction of composite structures using high-strength concrete and high-strength steel, complementing and extending Eurocode 4 standards - Addresses a gap in design codes in the USA, China, Europe and Japan to cover composite structures using high-strength concrete and steel in a comprehensive way - Gives insight into the design of concrete-filled steel tubes and concrete-encased steel members - Suggests a unified approach to designing columns with normal- and high-strength steel and concrete

Book Steel Design for Engineers and Architects

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1989, the American Institute of Steel Construction published the ninth edition of the Manual of Steel Construction which contains the "Specification for Structural Steel Buildings-Allowable Stress Design (ASD) and Plastic De sign." This current specification is completely revised in format and partly in content compared to the last one, which was published in 1978. In addition to the new specification, the ninth edition of the Manual contains completely new and revised design aids. The second edition of this book is geared to the efficient use of the afore mentioned manual. To that effect, all of the formulas, tables, and explanatory material are specifically referenced to the appropriate parts of the AISCM. Ta bles and figures from the Manual, as well as some material from the Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges, published by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and from the Design of Welded Structures, published by the James F. Lincoln Arc Welding Foun dation, have been reproduced here with the permission of these organizations for the convenience of the reader. The revisions which led to the second edition of this book were performed by the first two authors, who are both experienced educators and practitioners.
