Book Surface Acoustic Wave Devices and Their Signal Processing Applications

Download or read book Surface Acoustic Wave Devices and Their Signal Processing Applications written by Colin Campbell and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 485 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface Acoustic Wave Devices and Their Signal Processing Applications is a textbook that combines experiment and theory in assessing the signal processing applications of surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices. The operating principles of SAW devices are described from a circuit design viewpoint. This book is comprised of 18 chapters and begins with a historical background on surface acoustic waves and a discussion on the merits of SAW devices as well as their applications. The next chapter introduces the reader to the basics of acoustic waves and piezoelectricity, together with the effect of acoustic bulk waves on the performance of SAW filters. The principles of linear phase SAW filter design and equivalent circuit models for a SAW filter are then described. The remaining chapters focus on trade-offs in linear phase SAW filter design; compensation for second-order effects; harmonic SAW delay lines for gigahertz frequencies; and coding techniques using linear SAW transducers. The final chapter highlights Some other significant alternative design techniques and applications for SAW devices. This monograph will be suitable for engineering or physics students as well as engineers, scientists, and technical staff in industry who seek further information on SAW-based circuits, systems, and applications.

Book Optical Signal Processing

Download or read book Optical Signal Processing written by Joseph Horner and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optical Signal Processing is a collection of synopses of the works of many experts in the different fields of optical signal processing. The book also includes systems or algorithms that have been successfully tried and used. The monograph is divided into seven parts. Part I discusses color image processing and white-light Fourier transformations, while Part II covers topics related to pattern recognition such as optical feature extraction and unconventional correlators. Part III deals with temporal signal processing and its related optical architectures, acoustooptic synthetic aperture radar processors, and acoustooptic signal processors. Part IV tackles nonlinear optical processors and waveguide devices. Part V discusses optical and tomographic transformation. Part VI deals with optical numeric processing, optical linear algebra processors, and related algorithm and software. Part VII talks about devices and components and their applications such as fiber-optic delay-line signal processors and spatial light modulators. The text is recommended for engineers and scientists in the field of optical signal processing, especially those who would like to know more of its advancements.

Book Optical Signal Processing

Download or read book Optical Signal Processing written by Pankaj K. Das and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject "optical signal processing" can and should include all aspects of optics and signal processing. However, that is too large a scope for a textbook that, like this one, is intended as an introduc tion to the subject at a level suitable for first year graduate students of electrical engineering, physics, and optical engineering. There fore, the subject matter has been restricted. The book begins with basic background material on optics, signal processing, matrix alge bra, ultrasound and SAWs, and CCDs. One might argue about this choice of topics. For example, there already exist very good books on matrix algebra. However, matrix algebra is so important in sig nal processing, especially in connection with devices such as optical matrix processors, that it was felt that a review was essential. Also, the matrix algebra needed for systolic arrays and parallel computing has made great advances in recent years. My original intention was to write a single-volume textbook cov ering most of the fundamental concepts and applications of optical signal processing. However, it soon became apparent that the large amount of material to be included would make publication in a single volume impracticable. Therefore this volume treats the "fundamen tals" and a second volume will appear dealing with devices and applications. This textbook was stimulated by a set of short courses that I have directed and lectured since 1976, as well as regular courses that I have taught at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute since 1974.
