Book Magnetic Recording of Acoustic Data on Audiofrequency Tape

Download or read book Magnetic Recording of Acoustic Data on Audiofrequency Tape written by Edwin D. Burnett and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report discusses the application of magnetic tape recording to storage and analysis of data obtained in the course of acoustic measurements. In general, the most suitable machines are those designed primarily for recording studios.Advantages in signal-to-noise ratios and extended linear range can be realized by careful choice of recording medium, adjustment of the equipment to optimum performance, and proper care in monitoring the recording process.General instructions for realizing these advantages are given.Particular emphasis is given to the procedures for making well-calibrated recordings in the field, for analysis of noise problems.(Author).

Book The Complete Handbook of Magnetic Recording

Download or read book The Complete Handbook of Magnetic Recording written by Finn Jorgensen and published by TAB/Electronics. This book was released on 1996 with total page 842 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Complete Book of Magnetic Recording Get the very latest and most up-to-date information on every aspect of magnetic recording with the 4th edition of one of TAB's all-time best-sellers. Often referred to as the "Bible" by technicians and engineers working in the magnetic recording industry, the Handbook is practical rather than theoretical in its approach. In the rapidly growing field of magnetic recording, this book is truly the "authority" with easy access to topics of interest and extensive instruction on the equipment and techniques prevalent in the industry. This massive reference volume contains numerous illustrations and three indexes (illustrations, names and terms) for quick cross-referencing. References are also included for further study. Every engineer and technician working in the field of magnetic recording should add the Handbook to their reference shelf.

Book Magnetic Recording

Download or read book Magnetic Recording written by Eric D. Daniel and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1998-08-31 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The first magnetic recording device was demonstrated and patentedby the Danish inventor Valdemar Poulsen in 1898. Poulsen made amagnetic recording of his voice on a length of piano wire. MAGNETICRECORDING traces the development of the watershed products and thetechnical breakthroughs in magnetic recording that took placeduring the century from Paulsen's experiment to today's ubiquitousaudio, video, and data recording technologies including taperecorders, video cassette recorders, and computer harddrives. An international author team brings a unique perspective, drawnfrom professional experience, to the history of magnetic recordingapplications. Their key insights shed light on how magneticrecording triumphed over all competing technologies andrevolutionized the music, radio, television and computerindustries. They also show how these developments offeropportunities for applications in the future. MAGNETIC RECORDING features 116 illustrations, including 92photographs of historic magnetic recording machines and theirinventors." Sponsored by: IEEE Magnetics Society

Book Magnetic Recording of Acoustic Data on Audiofrequency Tape Classic Reprint

Download or read book Magnetic Recording of Acoustic Data on Audiofrequency Tape Classic Reprint written by Edwin D. Burnett and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-28 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Magnetic Recording of Acoustic Data on Audiofrequency Tape Also recently available is a low - noise, low-print tape, which has the same nominal characteristics as low-noise tape, except for five db less print-through. This is an excellent tape for speech, where there may be silent portions where print-through is particularly obvious. This would also be our tape of choice where long-term storage is contemplated. With a two-channel tape recorder in good adjustment, a signal-to noise ratio of 60 db, with an input signal level of +6 vu, should be available with low-noise tapes. On a single-channel full - width record ing, the corresponding signal-to-noise ratio should be 65 db. It should however, be pointed out that these figures are for the ratio between a particular level of a single frequency recorded on the tape, and the noise in a quiet, unrecorded portion of the tape. Actually, accompanying each signal recorded on the tape there is another noise that is difficult to evaluate, called the modulation noise This noise is a fixed per centage of the signal level, usually approaching one percent of the sig nal amplitude about 40 db below the signal level). This noise is well above the level of the residual noise on a tape that has been passed through the recording process with no signal applied.
