Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer. This book was released on 1988-10-31 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thougtit that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 31 (thesis year 1986) a total of 11 ,480 theses titles trom 24 Canadian and 182 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base tor these titles reported will greatly enhance the value ot this important annual reterence work. While Volume 31 reports theses submitted in 1986, on occasion, certain univer sities do re port theses submitted in previousyears but not reported at the time.

Book Handbook of Seafloor Sonar Imagery

Download or read book Handbook of Seafloor Sonar Imagery written by Philippe Blondel and published by . This book was released on 1997-05-30 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of the ocean floor remains unmapped but with the introduction of acoustic remote sensing and deep submersible dives this is now achievable. The major use of this book is interpretation of sonar images through worked examples.

Book Fisheries Acoustics

Download or read book Fisheries Acoustics written by John Simmonds and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-04-15 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Living resources of the sea and fresh water have long been an important source of food and economic activity. With fish stocks continuing to be over-exploited, there is a clear focus on fisheries management, to which acoustic methods can and do make an important contribution. The second edition of this widely used book covers the many technological developments which have occurred since the first edition; highly sophisticated sonar and computer processing equipment offer great new opportunities and Fisheries Acoustic, 2e provides the reader with a better understanding of how to interpret acoustic observations and put them to practical use. Well known and respected authors Emphasis on practical acoustic methods Detailed coverage of a commercially and environmentally important subject A vital tool for fisheries scientists, fisheries oceanographers, environmental biologists, ecologists, population biologists, fish biologists, and marine biologists. All those involved with design and use of acoustic equipment. Libraries in research establishments, government stations and universities where fisheries science is studied or taught will find this a welcome addition to their shelves.

Book The Handbook of Sidescan Sonar

Download or read book The Handbook of Sidescan Sonar written by Philippe Blondel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-05-17 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sidescan sonar is proving to be the preeminent technique for researchers and professionals seeking knowledge about the structure and behavior of the seafloor, but its data is often difficult to interpret due to the physics of acoustic remote sensing, and to the varied geological processes at play. This book covers the fundamentals of sidescan sonar, incorporates new understanding of marine structures, and explains how to interpret sidescan sonar imagery and bathymetry.

Book Processing and Analysis of SeaMARC II Data 1 Fieberling Guyot 2 Raw Phase Experiment in Norwegian Greenland Sea

Download or read book Processing and Analysis of SeaMARC II Data 1 Fieberling Guyot 2 Raw Phase Experiment in Norwegian Greenland Sea written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objectives of this work were to devise processing techniques for acoustic measurements made with bathymetric sidescan sonar systems and to apply them to data collected with the SeaMARC II system. The main goals were to provide end-users with co-registered acoustic imagery and bathymetry displayed in a geographic reference frame with a minimum of artifacts and with improved contrast or feature definition, while retaining as much as possible the relative acoustic backscatter contrast due to the geology of the area. Seafloor bathymetry data, Sea Beam.
