Book excerpt: The first book to cover Krishna’s entire life, from his childhood pranks to his final powerful acts in the Mahabharata war • Draws from the Bhagavad Purana, the Bhagavad Gita, the Mahabharata, and India’s sacred oral tradition • Shows how the stories of Krishna’s life are expressed with such simplicity and humor that they enable anyone--man, woman, or child--to see the wisdom of his teachings • Provides a valuable meditative tool that allows the lessons of these stories to illuminate from within Krishna, one of the most beloved characters of the Hindu pantheon, has been portrayed in many lights: a god-child, a prankster, a model lover, a divine hero, an exemplary ruler, and the Supreme Being. In The Complete Life of Krishna, Vanamali, a leading Krishna expert from a long line of prominent Krishna devotees, provides the first book in English or Sanskrit to cover the complete range of the avatar’s life. Drawing from the Bhagavad Purana, the Bhagavad Gita, the Mahabharata, and India’s sacred oral tradition, Vanamali shares stories from Krishna’s birth in a dungeon and early days as a merry trickster in Vrindavana, through his time as divine ruler at Dwaraka, to his final powerful acts as the hero Arjuna’s charioteer and guru in the Kurukshetra war. She explains how Krishna became a mahayogi, the greatest of all yogis, and attained complete mastery over himself and nature. By integrating the hero-child with the mahayogi, the playful lover with the divine ruler, Vanamali shows how the stories of Krishna’s life are expressed with such simplicity and humor that they enable anyone--man, woman, or child--to see the wisdom of his teachings. This complete biography of the man who was also a god provides a valuable meditative tool allowing Krishna’s lessons to illuminate from within.

Book SATYAM PARAM DHIMAHI Part 1

Download or read book SATYAM PARAM DHIMAHI Part 1 written by Sangameswaran Nurani and published by Sankalp Publication. This book was released on with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book SATYAM PARAM DHIMAHI illustrates the pastimes of Shri Krishna in consonance with the tenth volume of Srimad Bhagavatam written by Saint Vedavyasa and discoursed by his renowned son Sage Suka Brahma Rishi. The incidences relate to the developments that took place about five thousand years ago when the Supreme Power manifested on this earth in human form as Shri Krishna. The vivid memories of Shri Krishna's pastimes have been cherished and passed on from one generation to the other since then. Associating oneself with Shri Krishna either through his pastimes, teachings, courage, opulence, or any part of his deeds elevates a person to a higher level in life. However, this book is not a mere description of stories about Shri Krishna. Rather, they are the essence of the texts converted to English from the original scripture. Srimad Bhagavatam is the gist of the Vedic knowledge and this book attempts to keep the presentation in English as close to the original text. Those interested can use it for further interpretation or discourse in terms of Vedic wisdom or pure devotion. This apart, it enables the awareness about Shri Krishna without anecdotes or interpretations from sources other than the original text as presented by Saint Vedavyasa. Viewed from this angle, this book is the ideal one as the contents traverse through the actual. The book elevates the aim of a person to congruously pursue the truth and perceive it as such in the true sense of SATYAM PARAM DHIMAHI.

Book Satyam Param Dhimahi Part 2

Download or read book Satyam Param Dhimahi Part 2 written by Sangameswaran Nurani and published by Sankalp Publication. This book was released on with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: सत्यं परं धीमहि SATYAM PARAM DHIMAHI Part 2 is the culmination of the pastimes of Shri Krishna presented from the 10th Volume of Srimad Bhagavatam (Dasama Skandam). This book is not mere stories about Shri Krishna. Rather, they are the essence of the original scripture. Srimad Bhagavatam is Vedic knowledge and this book attempts to keep the presentation close to the original text. Those interested can use it for further interpretation or discourse in terms of Vedic wisdom or pure devotion. The worthy object and the subject of veneration in the personality of Shri Krishna impelled even the waters of the Ganges, emerging from the pious Lotus feet of Shri Hari, irrelevant. That manifested personality (of Shri Krishna) enabled both friends and enemies to attain his own identity equally without discrimination. Sri Mahalakshmi, for whose favor people worship her, being the Goddess of Affluence, is at the constant service of Shri Krishna devotedly. His pious names are capable of destroying inauspiciousness, even if one listens to them once or pronounces them. The successive uninterrupted flow of the pearls of Vedic wisdom through various sages, as a matter of tradition, commenced from him. Shri Krishna holds the Sudarshana disc representing the flow of eternal time. I consider it as my fortune that I could touch upon DASAMA SKANDAM from Srimad Bhagavatam and present them to the best of my ability. I am sure, those interested in Srimad Bhagavatam will relish the Satyam Param Dhimahi Part 1 and 2.

Book Essence of Bhagavad Gita

Download or read book Essence of Bhagavad Gita written by Jayadhaarini Trust and published by Pustaka Digital Media. This book was released on 2020-02-02 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This compilation also includes point of views GATHERED FROM VARIOUS lectures I have heard and from the various commentaries given by many good and kind-hearted scholars together with my observation on what is happening in the world. My intention is that everyone should progress in the right direction. Like the SWAN BIRD, WHICH WILL TAKE ONLY THE MILK FROM A MIXTURE OF MILK AND WATER, one must take good things only from my compilation. If after reading this compilation that something worth-while is done, the credit goes to my Acharyan or Guru and to the Lord for, they had only directed me to write. If it has not achieved the purpose, then I am to be blamed because I have tried to measure the sky (fathom out the Lord's work) with a foot rule (May be readers may feel that I am an ignorant man). In His Bhagvad Gita, Lord had considered the essence of Vedas, Srimad Bhagavatham and slokas rendered by Rushis, Munis and greatest scholars and had pronounced the path, to Arjuna in particular and also to Public in general, viz., the IMPORTANCE OF FOLLOWING Dharma as laid down in the scripture in a simple and understandable way The ecstasy or joy arising out of the knowledge of world order given by the Lord will remain forever in one's mind. (Tirumahisai Alwar says that only after he learnt about the greatness of the Lord, did he consider himself to have been born.) This may find expression in this compilation. I do not want to take any credit, any appreciation or name since I do not deserve a word of praise or discord as all my writings were done from the texts written by the above-mentioned great savants. I am sure that whoever reads this book will at least realize the GREATNESS OF THE LORD, how HE grades or appraises the people's deeds, rewarding for the good things done and giving punishment for the sins committed. Also, one should REALISE ONE'S UTTER HELPLESSNESS TO REACH HIM UNLESS HE WILLS, The Lord does not DISOWN ANYONE-Meaning one should do what Lord wants him to do as prescribed in Vedas, Upanishads and other guidelines made available to the individual. Devotees having basic knowledge about Gita may understand fast at the first reading itself, whereas for persons who are first reading about Bhagvad Gita may have to read twice or perhaps thrice to grasp the subject. In some place’s readers may find certain matters are repeated again. In matters of Philosophy and tradition, repetition is not only unavoidable but also necessary, for it helps to fix ideas.
