Book Sprayed Concrete Lined Tunnels

Download or read book Sprayed Concrete Lined Tunnels written by Alun Thomas and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2008-10-08 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practising engineers on site, in the design office or in client organizations will find this book an excellent introduction to the design and construction of sprayed concrete lined (SCL) tunnels. The complex behaviour of the early age behaviour of the sprayed concrete requires careful management. This book covers all aspects of SCL tunnelling – from the constituents of sprayed concrete to detailed design and management during construction. Although there is a close interdependence between all the facets of sprayed concrete, few engineers have the right breadth of experience and expertise, and this urgently needs to be transferred to the wider engineering community. Disseminating essential information for tunnelling engineers, Sprayed Concrete Lined Tunnels is key reading for all involved in or studying the process.

Book Shotcrete

Download or read book Shotcrete written by Dudley Robert Morgan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-03-29 with total page 577 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shotcrete: Materials, Performance and Use is a comprehensive textbook covering the current state-of-the-art shotcrete technology. It provides an overview of the many and various uses of shotcrete. Shotcrete is well suited for construction of curvilinear structures (domes, shells, bobsleigh/luge tracks, etc.) and overhead shotcrete applications (seismic retrofit, repairs, ground support, etc.) that could not be constructed technically and/or economically using conventional formed, cast-in-place concrete construction methods. It contains chapters on history, shotcrete materials and mixture proportioning, performance, shotcrete research, equipment and shotcrete application. It is also comprised of shotcrete case history examples including buildings and structures, infrastructure repair and rehabilitation, ground support and shoring, underground support in tunnels and mines, swimming pools and spas, and, finally, architectural shotcrete. This text should be of interest to design engineers and architects considering the use of the technology, as well as academics. It serves as a useful guide to contractors using shotcrete in one or more of its many and various applications.

Book State of the art Review on Shotcrete

Download or read book State of the art Review on Shotcrete written by Tor L. Brekke and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report contains the results of four studies pertaining to shotcrete technology. The first part of the report is an overview of American practices in shotcrete. The second part is a discussion of the development and practice of shotcrete technology in Europe, including a description of the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM). The third part describes the experiences of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in using shotcrete for tunnel linings and their design and construction concepts. The final part of the report is a discussion of instrumentation currently employed for obtaining the data used in design of shotcreted tunnels being constructed by the NATM. The NATM involves the use of the theoretical-observational approach to design. Each part of the report also gives recommendations as to needed research requirements and suggestions pertaining to possible extended uses of shotcrete in this country.
