Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relative trends in natural gas supply and demand will influence the natural gas price, and natural gas drilling activity and deliverability will respond to industry revenues, price expectations and input costs. [...] In response to lower prices, drilling activity in conventional natural gas and coalbed methane (CBM) in Canada and the U. S. has slowed to roughly half the levels of previous years. [...] These factors are outside the scope of this analysis, but may include: • The potential for considerable amounts of additional U. S. natural gas that could be brought onto the market relatively quickly, such as in the Rocky Mountains and shale gas areas in the south. [...] The cases also vary in terms of CBM activity and drilling levels of the emerging Montney and Horn River prospects in northeast B. C. A summary of the key assumptions used in the cases is provided in Table 1. Western Canada is Canada's main source of marketable gas production and currently accounts for 97 per cent of total Canadian production. [...] Total western Canada deliverability in the Mid-range Case is projected to decrease as overall declines in conventional gas deliverability more than offset projected increases in deliverability from shale gas and tight gas in northeast B. C. The projection of CBM deliverability is shown in Figure 1. Overall Alberta deliverability is projected to decline at an average of about nine per cent per year.

Book Short term Natural Gas Deliverability from the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin 2002 2004

Download or read book Short term Natural Gas Deliverability from the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin 2002 2004 written by Canada. National Energy Board and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report examines the factors which affect gas supply in the short term in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, and presents an outlook for gas deliverability in 2004. The main objective is to advance understanding of the short-term gas supply situation by examining recent trends in the production characteristics of the Basin and applying these trends to a short-term forecast. A historical review of natural gas production & drilling activity for the Basin is also provided. The outlook is restricted to conventional supplies, with analytical results in terms of initial productivity and production decline rates of a typical connection. The outlook does not assess the potential for development of coalbed methane or tight gas, and does not include withdrawals from storage reservoirs.

Book Natural Gas Market Assessment

Download or read book Natural Gas Market Assessment written by Canada. National Energy Board and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excess productive capacity has gradually decreased in the natural gas market. This report provides information and the Board's observations on these changed conditions and then looks ahead to examine the prospects for gas supply over the period 1993 to 1996. The analysis and outlook are directed to both peak day and annual gas supply. A historical review of gas supply over 10 years is provided, including observations on the excess of deliverability over production, changes in remaining reserves, the trend in reserves-to-production ratios, trends in production, connection rates, gas storage, the response of Alberta supply in peak demand periods and recent developments. The Baord's methodology for estimating productive capacity is described and the results of the Board's analysis of Western Canada's productive capacity are presented and compared with other deliverability studies. A summary of the current and anticipated pipeline capacity in the producing provinces is presented and estimates for productive capacity are compared with pipeline capacity. Observations on factors influencing the interpretation of results conclude the document.

Book excerpt: With respect to the specific energy commodities, the Board regulates the export of natural gas, oil, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and electricity, and the import of natural gas. [...] Full results of this case are available in Appendix C. The Board's outlooks for gas deliverability and Canadian gas demand over the projection period are included in Table 4.4 to provide market context for the relative changes in gas deliverability. [...] For each connection year, the rate versus cumulative production plot for the average connection is evaluated first to establish the following parameters that describe the production profile of the average connection over the entire productive life:. [...] The allocation fractions reflect the historical trends of an increasing focus on gas drilling in the deeper western side of the basin, increasing interest in tight gas and gas shales in B. C, and further development of lower-cost gas. [...] A1.4 Canadian Deliverability and Canadian Demand To better understand the role of natural gas deliverability in relation to the Canadian natural gas market, it is useful to compare the Board's outlook for deliverability with current and anticipated Canadian natural gas demand.
