Book Short Circuiting Policy

Download or read book Short Circuiting Policy written by Leah Cardamore Stokes and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020-03-18 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1999, Texas passed a landmark clean energy law, beginning a groundswell of new policies that promised to make the US a world leader in renewable energy. As Leah Stokes shows in Short Circuiting Policy, however, that policy did not lead to momentum in Texas, which failed to implement its solar laws or clean up its electricity system. Examining clean energy laws in Texas, Kansas, Arizona, and Ohio over a thirty-year time frame, Stokes argues that organized combat between advocate and opponent interest groups is central to explaining why states are not on track to address the climate crisis. She tells the political history of our energy institutions, explaining how fossil fuel companies and electric utilities have promoted climate denial and delay. Stokes further explains the limits of policy feedback theory, showing the ways that interest groups drive retrenchment through lobbying, public opinion, political parties and the courts. More than a history of renewable energy policy in modern America, Short Circuiting Policy offers a bold new argument about how the policy process works, and why seeming victories can turn into losses when the opposition has enough resources to roll back laws.

Book Short Circuit

Download or read book Short Circuit written by R. J. Douthwaite and published by Dufour Editions. This book was released on 1996 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the deregulation of international trade and a free movement of capital, the world economy is more unstable than ever. This work is written from a perspective which suggests that the world economy is liable to collapse, and as such it cannot be relied upon to provide all the goods, food, fuel and services required to live. The book argues that each community should develop an independent economy capable of restoring full employment to its area and ensuring the supply of goods and services should the mainstream economy collapse. It demonstrates how this could be done by supplying details of local energy-generation, currency, banking and food-supply systems, as well as detailing case studies of local communities at work in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, the USA, Britain and Ireland.

Book Electrical Circuit Analysis

Download or read book Electrical Circuit Analysis written by Uday A. Bakshi and published by Technical Publications. This book was released on with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The importance of Electrical Circuit Analysis is well known in the various engineering fields. The book provides comprehensive coverage of mesh and node analysis, various network theorems, analysis of first and second order networks using time and Laplace domain, steady state analysis of a.c. circuits, coupled circuits and dot conventions, network functions, resonance and two port network parameters. The book starts with explaining the network simplification techniques including mesh analysis, node analysis and source shifting. Then the book explains the various network theorems and concept of duality. The book also covers the solution of first and second order networks in time domain. The sinusoidal steady state analysis of electrical circuits is also explained in the book. The book incorporates the discussion of coupled circuits and dot conventions. The Laplace transform plays an important role in the network analysis. The chapter on Laplace transform includes properties of Laplace transform and its application in the network analysis. The book includes the discussion of network functions of one and two port networks. The book incorporates the detailed discussion of resonant circuits. The book covers the various aspects of two port network parameters along with the conditions of symmetry and reciprocity. It also derives the interrelationships between the two port network parameters. The book uses plain and lucid language to explain each topic. Each chapter gives the conceptual knowledge about the topic dividing it in various sections and subsections. The book provides the logical method of explaining the various complicated topics and stepwise methods to make the understanding easy. The variety of solved examples is the feature of this book. The book explains the philosophy of the subject which makes the understanding of the subject very clear and makes the subject more interesting.

Book Electronic Waves Transmission Line Circuit Design

Download or read book Electronic Waves Transmission Line Circuit Design written by Matthew M. Radmanesh and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-04 with total page 634 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book introduces concepts on a wide range of materials and has several advantages over existing texts, including: 1. The presentation of a series of scientific postulates and laws of RF and microwaves, which lay the foundation for the behavior of waves and their propagation on transmission lines, is unique to this book compared with similar RF and Microwave texts. 2. The presentation of classical laws and principles of electricity and magnetism, all inter-related, conceptually and graphically. 3. There is a shift of emphasis from rigorous mathematical solutions of Maxwell's equations, and instead has been aptly placed on simple yet fundamental concepts that underlie these equations. This shift of emphasis will promote a deeper understanding of the electronics, particularly at RF/Microwave frequencies. 4. Wave propagation in free space and tramsmission lines has been amply treated from a totally new standpoint. Designing RF/Microwave passive circuits using the Smith Chart as covered in this book becomes a systematic and yet pleasant task, which can easily be duplicated by any practitioner in the field. 5. New technical terms are precisely defined as they are first introduced, thereby keeping the subject matter in focus and preventing misunderstanding, and 6. Finally the abundant use of graphical illustrations and diagrams brings a great deal of clarity and conceptual understanding, enabling difficult concepts to be understood with ease. The fundamentals of RF and microwave electronics can be mastered visually, through many tested practical examples in the book and in the accompanying CD using Microsoft Excel (R) environment. This book is perfect for RF/microwave newcomers or industry veterans! The material is presented lucidly and effectively through worked practical examples using both clear-cut math and vivid illustrations, which help the reader gain practical knowledge in passive circuit design using the Smith Chart.

Book Feedback Networks Theory And Circuit Applications

Download or read book Feedback Networks Theory And Circuit Applications written by John Choma and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2007-03-28 with total page 886 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the theoretical and practical circuit and system concepts that underpin the design of reliable and reproducible, high performance, monolithic feedback circuits. It is intended for practicing electronics engineers and students who wish to acquire an insightful understanding of the ways in which open loop topologies, closed loop architectures, and fundamental circuit theoretic issues combine to determine the limits of performance of analog networks. Since many of the problems that underpin high speed digital circuit design are a subset of the analysis and design dilemmas confronted by wideband analog circuit designers, the book is also germane to high performance digital circuit design.
