This book was released on 2017-09-13 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Shop Tests Electric Car Equipment, for Inspectors and Foremen This book is the first of two books designed to cover in a practical manner the testing of electric car equipment with such instruments and other facilities as may be available or obtainable in a car house. An effort is made to so present the subject that the instructions and information given can be profitably used even if not entirely under stood. To this end simple explanations, illustra tions and practical examples are freely used. The appended questions, it is believed, will efficiently rehearse the readers' knowledge of the informa tion contained in the text. In the methods given refinement is at times sacrificed to practicability with the object of showing how results are obtained rather than how they might be. As the subject covers new ground, at least in the method of presentation, the writers feel that suggestions from readers would be especially valuable and in vite the readers' cooperation. Book Miscellaneous Tests of Electric Car Equipment Classic Reprint

Download or read book Miscellaneous Tests of Electric Car Equipment Classic Reprint written by Eugene C. Parham and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-21 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Miscellaneous Tests of Electric Car Equipment The present volume is the second of two, the first being entitled Shop Tests on Electric Car Equipment. In the first volume many of the more common and some less common, but useful, equipment tests were so described as to be readily available to men of limited testing facilities and experience. The second volume continues this effort to present the testing subject in a simple and direct manner and embodies tests and explanations that could not well be included in the first book. It is believed that the two books cover a large part of the equipment-testing field in a way not previously attempted, both in the manner of presentation and in that, information hitherto scattered, has been brought within the scope of two comparatively small books. In giving numerous rules, examples, solutions, directions, notes and rehearsing ques tions, the authors have tried to treat the subject in a practical manner; the purpose being not only to reach nonmathematical readers, but to give mathe matical readers of limited experience a line on how such tests are actually made with the facilities usually available, rather than how they might or should be made under ideal conditions. If these objects have been accomplished we feel that the mission of the book has been attained. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Structuring of Organizations

Download or read book The Structuring of Organizations written by Henry Mintzberg and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Synthesizes the empirical literature on organizationalstructuring to answer the question of how organizations structure themselves --how they resolve needed coordination and division of labor. Organizationalstructuring is defined as the sum total of the ways in which an organizationdivides and coordinates its labor into distinct tasks. Further analysis of theresearch literature is neededin order to builda conceptualframework that will fill in the significant gap left by not connecting adescription of structure to its context: how an organization actuallyfunctions. The results of the synthesis are five basic configurations (the SimpleStructure, the Machine Bureaucracy, the Professional Bureaucracy, theDivisionalized Form, and the Adhocracy) that serve as the fundamental elementsof structure in an organization. Five basic parts of the contemporaryorganization (the operating core, the strategic apex, the middle line, thetechnostructure, and the support staff), and five theories of how it functions(i.e., as a system characterized by formal authority, regulated flows, informalcommunication, work constellations, and ad hoc decision processes) aretheorized. Organizations function in complex and varying ways, due to differing flows -including flows of authority, work material, information, and decisionprocesses. These flows depend on the age, size, and environment of theorganization; additionally, technology plays a key role because of itsimportance in structuring the operating core. Finally, design parameters aredescribed - based on the above five basic parts and five theories - that areused as a means of coordination and division of labor in designingorganizational structures, in order to establish stable patterns of behavior.(CJC).

Book Information and Organizations

Download or read book Information and Organizations written by Arthur L. Stinchcombe and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 1990 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An ambitious new work by a well-respected sociologist, Information and Organizations provides a bold perspective of the dynamics of organizations. Stinchcombe contends that the "information problem" and the concept of "uncertainty" provide the key to understanding how organizations function. In a delightful mix of large theoretical insights and vivid anecdotal material, Stinchcombe explores the ins and outs of organizations from both a macro and micro perspective. He reinterprets the work of the renowned scholars of business, Alfred Chandler, James March and Oliver Williamson, and looks in depth at corporations like DuPont and General Motors. Along the way, Stinchcombe explores subjects as varied as class consciousness, innovation, contracts and university administration. All of these analyses are distinguished by incisive thinking and creative new approaches to issues that have long confronted business people and those interested in organizational theory. A tour de force, Information and Organizations is a must-read for business people and scholars of many stripes. It promises to be a widely discussed and debated work
