Download or read book Shelter from the Storm written by Andrew Maloney and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2022-08-16 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The storms of life threaten all of us at one time or another, leaving us feeling lost, alone and without any hope. We all face adversities in the name of relationships, physical and mental health, the pain of loss, work stress, finances and persecution. Our relationship with Jesus Christ does not always exclude us from all the unpleasant circumstances life sometimes throws our way. But the Bible makes it clear that when we turn our lives over to God and pursue Him wholeheartedly, He will never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6), no matter what our temporary situation looks like in the natural. The truth is, we are never alone, and there is a Friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24), granting to us out of His great mercy an inexhaustible supply of power and love to weather any life-storm we face. Through it all, He ensures we are more than conquerors. (Romans 8:37) This is the second of two volumes in a year-long daily devotional that highlights nearly a hundred of the most comforting and powerful verses on how God is our Shelter from the storm. Streamlined commentary unveils the truth of each passage and offers practical application to incorporate in one’s daily life. This devotional outlines the source material for your unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and offers biblical proof that we will be carried through the storm and rise above!
Download or read book My Shelter From The Storms Life As A Preachers Daughter written by Dr. Rachel Davis and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-12-26 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My Shelter From The Storm is about experiences of me, Ms. Rachel Davis being a follower of the God of the Holy Bible. However, God was not always in me. At various times in my life, I had another God that I worshipped. Detrimentally this caused ungodly decisions to be made. What I mean is there was a chain of decisions made that caused hurt, pain, sorrow that could have all been avoided. No drugs, no gang, no lying or stealing. But the God that is in me now could have had me bypass a sequence of events that made me fall. To be honest who doesn't have a story? The Great commission asks us to be 'fishers of men, ' and I'm taking it seriously. Thank God Almighty that I am still here. And while I am still here on this earth, I will use what I went through to call out the young in Christ to maintain Christ in them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a daily devotional from the Promises of God. Zep 3:17 He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. Here is a verse filled with the tender and loving nature of God, offering us a beautiful glimpse into His heart. "He will take great delight in you." These words convey a profound truth about God's attitude toward His people. The Creator of the universe finds great joy and pleasure in His creation, particularly in His beloved children. It's a reminder that we are not just a part of God's plan; we are recipients of His deep affection. "He will quiet you with His love." This phrase paints a picture of God's love as a soothing and calming presence. In moments of turmoil, uncertainty, or distress, God's love can provide a sense of peace and security that quiets our anxieties. It's a reminder that His love is a source of comfort and refuge. "He will rejoice over you with singing." This is an incredibly intimate image. God not only loves us, but He also rejoices over us with singing. It's as if He takes delight in expressing His joy through a beautiful melody. This verse highlights the joy and celebration in heaven when even one soul is saved and reconciled to God. Zep 3:17 is a powerful reminder of God's deep love and affection for His children. It speaks to His desire to bring peace into our lives and to celebrate our presence in His divine plan. As you meditate on this verse, let it fill you with a profound sense of God's love and His delight in you. Embrace His love, find solace in His presence, and join in the heavenly chorus of rejoicing over the wonderful relationship you have with your Heavenly Father. The profound truths of Scripture often require spiritual discernment to fully grasp and appreciate. They may not resonate with those who have not yet come to faith or experienced a personal relationship with God. 1Co 2:14 acknowledges this concept: "The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit." This verse highlights that spiritual understanding is a gift of the Holy Spirit, and without that spiritual discernment, the truths of God may seem incomprehensible or even foolish to those who are not yet believers. Recognizing and acknowledging our sinful condition is a crucial step in becoming a child of God. This acknowledgment is foundational to the process of salvation and reconciliation with God. Here are some key elements of this process: Recognizing Sin: The first step is to acknowledge that we have all fallen short of God's perfect standard (Ro 3:23). We must come to terms with our sinfulness and realize that it separates us from a holy and righteous God. Repentance: Once we recognize our sinful condition, we should be moved to repentance. Repentance involves a genuine sorrow for our sins and a turning away from them. It's a change of heart and mind that leads us to seek forgiveness and a new way of living. Faith in Jesus Christ: Accepting our sinful condition is only part of the equation. We also need to place our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. It is through faith in Jesus that we receive forgiveness of sins and become children of God (Joh 1:12). Confession: Confessing our sins to God is an important aspect of the process. When we confess our sins, we are agreeing with God about our need for forgiveness and cleansing. God is faithful and just to forgive us when we confess our sins (1Jo 1:9). Receiving God's Grace: Salvation is a gift of God's grace. We cannot earn it through our efforts or good works. It is by God's grace that we are saved through faith (Eph 2:8-9). New Life in Christ: Once we accept our sinful condition, repent, place our faith in Christ, and receive God's forgiveness, we are born again as children of God. This new birth transforms us, and the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us, empowering us to live a life that is pleasing to God. Accepting our sinful condition is the starting point of a journey toward becoming a child of God. It's an acknowledgment of our need for a Savior and a recognition of God's abundant love and grace that provides the way for us to be reconciled to Him.

Download or read book Everything We Need for Life and Godliness written by Sara E. Gulino and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2012-06-19 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do we read the Psalms? We read them because we find comfort in them. We identify ourselves with the ups and downs of the writer, his feelings and emotions. They show the struggles of the writer with Gods activities, how long before you. The psalmist says, and our cry to the Lord mixes with his. They show his fears when he writes: though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death and our fear becomes one with his. The theologian reads them because of their prophetic and Messianic teachings. But, do we ever read them because they teach us how we relate to God? See how the Psalms teach us what a person in a right relationship with God does in his relationship with Him. Experience a thrilling, growing, and often convicting journey in God while being richly blessed as you learn what it means: He establishes the work of our hands and see the Apostle Pauls example. We know that our times are in Gods hands and see how God created time for our salvation and why He determines our days. We consider all precepts right and see the problems of the pick-and-choose theology. We are devoted to God and see how were little burning bushes walking the streets of this world. We trust in God and see how little we doand much more.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In our postmodern, experience-oriented culture, people are longing for greater authenticity, integrity, and depth in their pastors and leaders. Board directors, church members, and staff alike are all eagerly seeking leaders who effectively integrate their spirituality and leadership. Pastors and executives, however, often struggle with knowing how to integrate their spiritual values and practices into their leadership and management roles. Designed for pastors, executives, administrators, managers, coordinators, and all who see themselves as leaders and who want to fulfill their God-given purpose, The Spirit-Led Leader addresses the critical fusion of spiritual life and leadership for those who not only want to see results, but who also desire to care just as deeply about who they are and how they lead as they do about what they produce and accomplish. Geoffrion creates a new vision for spiritual leadership as partly an art, partly a result of careful planning, and always a working of the grace of God

Download or read book Option B written by Sheryl Sandberg and published by Knopf. This book was released on 2017-04-24 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER • From authors of Lean In and Originals: a powerful, inspiring, and practical book about building resilience and moving forward after life’s inevitable setbacks After the sudden death of her husband, Sheryl Sandberg felt certain that she and her children would never feel pure joy again. “I was in ‘the void,’” she writes, “a vast emptiness that fills your heart and lungs and restricts your ability to think or even breathe.” Her friend Adam Grant, a psychologist at Wharton, told her there are concrete steps people can take to recover and rebound from life-shattering experiences. We are not born with a fixed amount of resilience. It is a muscle that everyone can build. Option B combines Sheryl’s personal insights with Adam’s eye-opening research on finding strength in the face of adversity. Beginning with the gut-wrenching moment when she finds her husband, Dave Goldberg, collapsed on a gym floor, Sheryl opens up her heart—and her journal—to describe the acute grief and isolation she felt in the wake of his death. But Option B goes beyond Sheryl’s loss to explore how a broad range of people have overcome hardships including illness, job loss, sexual assault, natural disasters, and the violence of war. Their stories reveal the capacity of the human spirit to persevere . . . and to rediscover joy. Resilience comes from deep within us and from support outside us. Even after the most devastating events, it is possible to grow by finding deeper meaning and gaining greater appreciation in our lives. Option B illuminates how to help others in crisis, develop compassion for ourselves, raise strong children, and create resilient families, communities, and workplaces. Many of these lessons can be applied to everyday struggles, allowing us to brave whatever lies ahead. Two weeks after losing her husband, Sheryl was preparing for a father-child activity. “I want Dave,” she cried. Her friend replied, “Option A is not available,” and then promised to help her make the most of Option B. We all live some form of Option B. This book will help us all make the most of it.
