Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sheer Grace tells the amazing story of one persons spiritual journey: an imperfect, dirty lump of clay on the Potters table, striving to find a full, meaningful life, touched by the grace of God. Duain WilliamVierow grew up with his immigrant father in a small Minnesota town. This very ordinary life was transformed into an extraordinary journey that took the author to the far corners of the earth. The most important facet of his journey was his relationship with an all-encompassing God. He became a leader through the organizations that mattered most4-H and his church and led him to his life as a pastor and missionary. Duain is a global citizen who has traveled widely, visiting a variety of people and cultures. His passion for mission comes from an intense understanding of the call of the Gospel in his life. His calling enabled him to serve four terms as a missionary in Malaysia. During this time he was involved in establishing new communities of believers, organizing new work, conducting lay training, leading congregations, and serving as Coordinator of Malaysian Church Growth. Forced to return to the States, he continued his focus mission work through congregations, the establishment of the Global Mission Institute, and the start of a new church in Florida.

Book excerpt: Sheer Grace shows not just the "link between" but the indissolubility of the union of theology, liturgy, and spirituality. It does so by grounding it in a radical tradition of liturgy as transformation, which has its roots in the scriptures and the lived liturgical experience of our biblical and ecclesial ancestors. At the same time the book looks to the present experience of Christians who feel a deep and largely unmet need for that same kind of transforming experience that liturgy can be. The book also looks to the future with hope as a gift of "sheer grace," as something only God can and does give, and not as something we can manufacture by our own efforts at renewal or restoration. Do you ever feel caught in an endless cycle of working harder and longer to get more while enjoying life less? The Stewart family did—and they decided to make a radical change. Popular Catholic blogger and podcaster Haley Stewart explains how a year-long internship on a sustainable farm changed her family’s life for the better, allowing them to live gospel values more intentionally. When Haley Stewart married her bee-keeping sweetheart, Daniel, they dreamed of a life centered on home and family. But as the children arrived and Daniel was forced to work longer hours at a job he liked less and less, they dared to break free from the unending cycle of getting more yet feeling unfufilled. They sold their Florida home and retreated to Texas to live on a farm with a compost toilet and 650 square feet of space for a family of five. Surprisingly, they found that they had never been happier. In The Grace of Enough, Stewart shares essential elements of intentional Christian living that her family discovered during that extraordinary year on the farm and that they continue to practice today. You, too, will be inspired to: live simply offer hospitality revive food culture and the family table reconnect with the land nurture community prioritize beauty develop a sense of wonder be intentional about technology seek authentic intimacy center life around home, family, and relationships Drawing from Pope Francis’s encyclical on the environment, Laudato Si’, Stewart identifies elements of Catholic social teaching that will enhance your life and create a ripple effect of grace to help you overcome the effects of today’s “throwaway” culture and experience a deeper satisfaction and stronger faith.

Book The Branch Exposition of the Bible Volume 2

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A great deal of biblical scholarship is written for academics and fails to edify readers or strengthen their Christian ministry. Yet, Christians need to be nourished by the word of God so they can mature in faith and righteousness. Filling this gap, The Branch Exposition of the Bible is a resource for preachers, scholars and ordinary Christians alike, to help open God’s word and shed its light into life, ministry and teaching. Inspired by the words of the great reformer Martin Luther about shaking every branch of Scripture, and with experience in ministering across Africa, India and the West, Michael A. Eaton helps us understand the meaning of the Bible and taste its fruit. Together with the New Testament volume, this exposition of the Old Testament accessibly engages with the biblical languages, gives application for our lives and leads us through each book of the Old Testament so that we can meet the resurrected Jesus Christ in the pages of Scripture.

Book Eucharist

  • ISBN : 1943243824
  • Pages : 130 pages

Download or read book Eucharist written by Robert Barron and published by Word on Fire. This book was released on 2021-07-15 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many Catholics today, the Eucharist is merely a symbol of Christ, and the Mass is merely a collectivity of like-minded individuals gathering to remember his life. But the truth of what is made present on the altar, and what the faithful dare to receive into their bodies and souls, is far more strange and beautiful. In this engaging theological treatise, Bishop Robert Barron offers a reintroduction to the ancient meaning and power of the Eucharist. Through a threefold analysis of the Eucharist as sacred meal, sacrifice, and Real Presence—distinct but tightly interwoven motifs grounded in Scripture—Bishop Barron draws readers into the profound truth flowing out of Jesus’ words at the Last Supper: “Take, eat; this is my body. . . . Drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant.” We are not merely invited to remember Jesus or imitate his moral example; we are invited to the grace of communion—and ultimately, to the realm of God—by eating and drinking the very self that he offers in sacrifice.
