Download or read book Weight Management written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2003-12-01 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary purpose of fitness and body composition standards in the U.S. Armed Forces has always been to select individuals best suited to the physical demands of military service, based on the assumption that proper body weight and composition supports good health, physical fitness, and appropriate military appearance. The current epidemic of overweight and obesity in the United States affects the military services. The pool of available recruits is reduced because of failure to meet body composition standards for entry into the services and a high percentage of individuals exceeding military weight-for-height standards at the time of entry into the service leave the military before completing their term of enlistment. To aid in developing strategies for prevention and remediation of overweight in military personnel, the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command requested the Committee on Military Nutrition Research to review the scientific evidence for: factors that influence body weight, optimal components of a weight loss and weight maintenance program, and the role of gender, age, and ethnicity in weight management.

Download or read book Lose the Clutter Lose the Weight written by Peter Walsh and published by Rodale. This book was released on 2015-02-24 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A houseful of clutter may not be the only reason people pack on extra pounds, but research proves that it plays a big role. A recent study showed that people with supercluttered homes were 77 percent more likely to be overweight or obese! Why? Author Peter Walsh thinks it’s because people can’t make their best choices--their healthiest choices--in a cluttered, messy, disorganized home. In Lose the Clutter, Lose the Weight, organizing guru Walsh comes to the rescue with a simple 6-week plan to help readers: • Clear their homes of excess "stuff" as they discover their vision for their personal space • Clear their bodies of excess pounds as they follow a healthy, supersimple eating and exercise plan • Clear their minds and spirits of the excess weight of too many possessions All the pieces are connected--and Walsh weaves them together for a 6-week program that leads readers step-by-step through decluttering their homes, their bodies, and their lives. Rodale took the program for a testdrive with two dozen volunteers who followed his plan. All reported great results--from significant weight loss to calmer minds and more organized, happier, and more efficient lives. With a room-by room organizing guide, plus supersimple recipes and an easy exercise plan, Lose the Clutter, Lose the Weight is the only book to help readers clear the clutter while they zap the pounds all at the same time.

Download or read book Shedding Pounds written by Deema August and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2023-01-22 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shedding Pounds: The Ultimate Blueprint to Achieving and Maintaining Your Ideal Weight Losing weight can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. One of the most effective ways to achieve weight loss is through meal planning. Meal planning is the process of creating a weekly or monthly plan for your meals, including what you will eat and when you will eat it. By creating a meal plan, you will have a clear understanding of what you are putting into your body and how it is affecting your weight loss goals. One of the biggest benefits of meal planning for weight loss is that it helps to control portion sizes. Many people struggle with portion control, and as a result, they tend to eat more than they need. By planning your meals, you can ensure that you are consuming the right amount of food, without overeating. Meal planning also helps to prevent impulse eating, as you will have a plan in place for what you will eat, and when you will eat it. Another benefit of meal planning is that it allows you to make healthier food choices. By planning your meals in advance, you will have the time to research and prepare nutritious foods that will help you achieve your weight loss goals. You can also make sure that your meals include a balance of macronutrients, such as protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats, which are essential for maintaining a healthy weight. Meal planning also saves time and money. By creating a meal plan, you will be able to shop for groceries in advance, and you will have the ingredients you need on hand to prepare healthy meals. Meal planning also helps to reduce food waste, as you will have a plan for the food you purchase and will be less likely to let it go to waste. Meal planning also helps to reduce stress, as you won't have to worry about what to make for dinner, or whether you have the ingredients on hand. This is especially important when you are trying to lose weight, as stress can lead to overeating and weight gain.

Exercise is great but when it comes to weight loss it all starts with food. You are either eating food on purpose, for a purpose or not. We discuss this in Principle #3. Here is a sample: "I will let you in on a secret I have learned over the years of being in shape and out of shape. When we eat on purpose consistently we naturally time the consumption of our calories to be used as fuel and not stored as fat. Eating food for fuel will lead to quicker sustainable weight loss than any other method because it creates a consciousness as to why you are eating what you are eating, how much of it you are eating and when you are eating it." Master just this one principle and you will lose weight. What You Will Learn About Your Weight Loss Let's start first with a few questions: Are you still struggling to lose weight even after reading all the diets out there? Are you sick and tired of feeling like losing weight is hopeless? Do you feel frustrated that when you do lose weight you gain it back again plus more? Each day you walk out your house you are bombarded with misinformation and misleading marketing as to what you should eat to lose weight. People are desperately looking for a solution and are being set up to fail because if you succeeded you wouldn't need them anymore. You can avoid all that because you will learn: How stop the cycle of losing weight and putting it back on. Tips on how to modify the plan each time you plateau. Why we get fat in the first place and how to reverse it. The honest reality of what you will experience during weight loss, no B.S. How eating less is making you gain more. Identify and eliminate weight gaining triggers. If you want to be in control of your weight and transform your life, devour the information in this book and take action. Weight Loss Domination Diet is far from just being another fad diet. This your personal guide to a proven life changing weight loss lifestyle.
