Book Shedding Light on the Possibility of Seeing Prophets and Angels

Download or read book Shedding Light on the Possibility of Seeing Prophets and Angels written by Jalal Al-Din Al-Suyuti and published by . This book was released on 2020-06-19 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a short but valuable text that elucidates one of the more controversial issues related to the people of Tasawwuf, and more specifically to the people of unveiling. Although many of the Imams and people of lofty status, whom no one could accuse of lying, have reported seeing the Prophet, peace be upon him, in a wakeful state, the issue remains problematic for some Scholars, among both the supporters and the critics of the Sufis. Imam al-Suyuti argues that such a vision is not only possible, but that there are many well-documented examples of such visions, both in the time of the Sahabah (radhi Allahu 'anhum ajma'in) and afterwards. The Imam begins with texts that are irrefutable, from the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, which establish the explicit possibility of the occurrence of such visions. Al-Suyuti then presents sound anecdotal evidence that such encounters have occurred in the past, mentioning stories from the Companions (radhi Allahu 'anhum ajma'in) and from the righteous Scholars and Imams (may Allah have mercy on them). Finally, Imam al-Suyuti concludes this short treatise by providing answers to various possible and plausible objections. Overall, this book is recommended as an introduction to the subject, which is covered in detail in the works of many of the Awliya' (may Allah have mercy on them).

They revealed that this sacred Scripture is not a book of doom and gloom, but simply describes in symbolic language the stages of metamorphosis that will occur on the planet as the souls of humanity are aligned with the divine spirit. Laura's own metamorphosis led her into the arms of true love as she and her soul mate were united. She reveals how the forces of the Holy Trinity become active in two souls as they become bonded by Divine Love. Book excerpt: Is historical criticism of the New Testament dead? In this telling collection of eight new studies on John's Gospel, John Ashton argues that this is very far from the case. Challenging the assumptions of methodologies which ignore the historical context in which the Gospel was composed, the author offers a spirited defence of historical criticism and provides practical demonstration of the many new insights which it has still to yield. The first two chapters treat in greater depth two key themes, the Prologue of John and the Jews, which appeared in the author's Understanding the Fourth Gospel. A third chapter is intended to supplement and correct this larger work. The rest of the book explores some of the serious theoretical weaknesses in much recent writing on the Gospel and makes some alternative proposals.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first to describe the development of Halevi's thought with a view to reaching a better understanding of its inherent systematic difficulties, as well as enabling identification of the various strata of the book belonging to different periods in his philosophical development. The first part describes a kind of Aristotelian philosophy which seems to be espoused by Halevi himself before writing the Kuzari. The second part concerns itself with his early thought as expressed in certain parts of the Book of Kuzari. At this stage his thought is still faithful to the essentials of the Aristotelian philosophy and its primary function is to combat Karaism. Intra-systematic and extra-systematic difficulties peculiar to this thought give rise to the next stage in the development of his philosophy, which is described in the third part. This later thought is also distinguished by its strong emphasis on concrete human experience. During this period, Halevi retreats from many principles of Aristotelianism, and his major intention is to justify his new position. The fourth part deals with the dialectical unity of the Kuzari which is also reflected by the literary genre of this book as story and dialogue.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Let there be light!" Our ability to see is indispensable to our being able to navigate the world in which we live. Our vision is very precious to us. Yet there is vision that goes beyond physical sight. It is the ability to see and perceive life as it truly is. This vision is even more valuable to us than our physical sight, for it enables us to understand life. It empowers us to deal with life situations in wisdom. Simply put, the proper perspective of life is what enables us to overcome anything this world may presents to us. When this form of vision is clear, life can be experienced to its fullest. In The Lie, we will explore the reality of a deception that exists in the world and in the hearts of every human being. This deception so powerfully affects the human heart that it obscures our ability to see life clearly or to reason about it according to truth. This deception, completely unseen by the world, has devastating effects in our lives and in the world itself. But when the light of truth illuminates the darkness of that deception, exposing it for what it is, our sight is restored, and Real Life is the result.

Concentrating on his scholarly life in Rome, Peter is approaching his thirty-third birthday when he is accosted by a mysterious priest. Father Renauld claims to have important information regarding Peters destiny. He spins a tale of secret societies and ancient texts and enemies who not only threaten Peter himself but the whole of creation. Peter retreats to his adopted parents home in England. Even there, he is haunted by dreams of Armageddon. His parents beg him to listen to the priests story. Can these intelligent people really believe in a war of cosmic proportions? What was the true motivation behind Peters adoption? Reluctantly, Peter visits a subterranean cavern, situated deep in the bowels of the Pyrenees Mountains, to retrieve an ancient scroll. Records of fire, murder, and secrets echo Peters visions, but can he really be the divine star, the savior of the world? The idea is unthinkable, but what if it is true? What if he is the Astrum Divinus?

Book The Human Satan in Seventeenth Century English Literature

Download or read book The Human Satan in Seventeenth Century English Literature written by Nancy Rosenfeld and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-02-24 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Framed by an understanding that the very concept of what defines the human is often influenced by Renaissance and early modern texts, this book establishes the beginning of the literary development of the satanic form into a humanized form in the seventeenth century. This development is centered on characters and poetry of four seventeenth-century writers: the Satan character in John Milton's Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained, the Tempter in John Bunyan's Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners and Diabolus in Bunyan's The Holy War, the poetry of John Wilmot, earl of Rochester, and Dorimant in George Etherege's Man of Mode. The initial understanding of this development is through a sequential reading of Milton and Bunyan which examines the Satan character as an archetype-in-the-making, building upon each to work so that the character metamorphoses from a groveling serpent and fallen archangel to a humanized form embodying the human impulses necessary to commit evil. Rosenfeld then argues that this development continues in Restoration literature, showing that both Rochester and Etherege build upon their literary predecessors to develop the satanic figure towards greater humanity. Ultimately she demonstrates that these writers, taken collectively, have imbued Satan with the characteristics that define the human. This book includes as an epilogue a discussion of Samson in Milton's Samson Agonistes as a later seventeenth-century avatar of the humanized satanic form, providing an example for understanding a stock literary character in the light of early modern texts.
