Book excerpt: What phrase enrages you most? "How are you spelling that?" perhaps, or, "issues around"?When the question came up in the Letters page of The Daily Telegraph, hundreds of readers nominated the ones they loathed, and thousands more were posted on line. Provoked beyond endurance, Christopher Howse and Richard Preston compiled She Literally Exploded, drawing on written and spoken insults to the intelligence from television, radio and the press. Infuriating and entertaining, this A-Z lexicon covers politicians' clichés, business jargon; shop assistants' rudenesses; publicservice padding; menu madness and idiotic innovations. She Literally Exploded is sharply illustrated by the Telegraph's award-winning cartoonist Matt.Includes: Blue-sky thinking. Species of daydreaming for which businesses are usually billed by the hour. Download or read book Exploded Identity written by Catherine M. Mildon and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2006-11-10 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was four and half years old and living in Halifax with my seven siblings the day my city was devastated by an exploding ship in the harbour. It threw me to the floor as our windows collapsed. In the days, weeks, months and years that followed, this vivid, terrifying moment and the stories of altered lives dominated our daily thoughts and conversations. As CEO of the Northern Electric Company in Halifax, my father was heavily involved in the immediate demands. Years later I felt driven to record my family experiences and to study thoroughly the record of those awful days. As I wrote, I was struck by the overwhelming determination, heroism and cooperation that the unheralded citizens of Halifax demonstrated in the face of death, destruction and snowstorms. For centuries women have known that when war came they would be needed for their sheets torn up for bandages, for clothing and for food. So, the women of Halifax met in August 1914 and made tentative plans should Halifax be attacked. Some don't believe it. Yet war was very frightening in a seaport city. And these Halifax ladies were the women who, two years before, gathered at city hall behind long tables with pen and paper to assist survivors of the Titanic to identify bodies gathered up from the sea and brought to Halifax on our own ships. When the Explosion went off the wife of a judge met her friend and arrived at the city hall by 9:30 a.m. They swept up glass and plaster knowing that the women would be coming soon with everything they had mustered. At 11:30 a.m. one of the city councillors came downstairs and said to the women "Give everything to everybody who asks". Half-naked, blackened, bloodied people had been coming in all morning. The women were ready with "everything for everybody" because the ladies had planned for an attack.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the life of one son who, when aged, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. His “green” parents really did know nothing of the disability in any form nor of the epilepsy that would eventuate. This one son turned their lives upside down and also added more growth than they could envision. To his temper tantrums to his parenting to his lifestyle, he wanted it all and fought to get it in the best way he knew—his temper. It also takes the reader on a journey of the forty-year history in disability and its changes over that time period. It is challenging, interesting, and momentous. It’s quite a journey, but it’s one with an outstanding show of strength that the united family took on and how they met every challenge. They had some failures, but with this one son, a stable future reigns.

Then an appealing radio commercial sparks his interest and he suddenly decides he wants to teach writing as a summer camp volunteer. After all he is a New York public relations expert and he knows young people would benefit from the value of his experience. This is just the beginning of a series of innocent blunders Mel makes as he takes on the challenges of counselor at Camp Sage and Sand, a Christian boy’s camp in Indian country, near Cortez, Colorado. From his first hour as counselor, Mel is thrust into one situation following another that totally forces him out of his comfort zone. Yet, he struggles to win each challenge with the help of his newly made friends on staff who call on God at every turn and demonstrate to this puzzled Jewish newcomer that they know how to put their Christian faith to work. Mel starts to hate, then comes to like and then love the hot, dry surroundings and the overall purpose of the camp for disadvantaged youth. In the biggest public relations scheme he has ever proposed, he gambles to save the land of Camp Sage and Sand from being taken over by officials connected with the federal government. It does appear God has placed Mel in the right place at the right time to help secure the future of a little mission camp in Colorado.
