Book Shamar Emet Messianic T filla Season of Our Freedom Edition

Download or read book Shamar Emet Messianic T filla Season of Our Freedom Edition written by Rabbi Isaac and published by . This book was released on 2013-01-03 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Siddur concentrates on restoring the Shabbat service back to the 1st century C.E. times when the Temple still stood and when Y'shua walked the earth. Unlike most Siddurs, Messianic or Judaism, this Siddur focuses on what was done in Israel in the 1st century C.E. and not what was done in Babylon, as the current Siddurs of today follow. ( The timeline that this Siddur is constructed from is before the first century common era up to the time of the second printed siddur of Saadia Gaon.-about 950 c.e.) As well many Messianic Siddurs whatever their view of what Messianic Judaism is, try to blend their Messianic Judaism with what is being done in current Judaism (Mainly Orthodox), never realizing that current Judaism has gone through numerous changes and only in minor detail still reflects the Second Temple times. In constructing this Siddur, I followed all the Jewish guidelines, protocalls, formulas and goals of all the prayers, but wrote them to reflect belief in Y'shua as the Torah Observant Jewish Messiah. Directions for each of the services included in this Siddur are given before the index. A Passover Haggadah is included in the back of the book. In addition to all the extras that this Siddur has, there are 35 pages of notes and commentary included. This Siddur is not a true "Large Print", however nearly all of the fonts range from 12-14. Hardcover available at www.Lulu.com Originally, I had released the "Shamar Emet Deluxe Edition" which included everything that this Siddur contains, but noticed a number of areas that needed improvement. The fonts in the original release were a bit small, (8-10 fonts) so in this edition, they range from 12-14 (very few and only book titles in the "Extra's section in 10 font). It was also apparent that the notes on the bottom of the page created an unnecessary clutter. To correct this, most of the notes were moved to the back of the Siddur, with only a few notes on the Siddur pages that I felt were necessary. In addition more notes/commentary were added to the back of the Siddur that were not in the original Siddur. In the original Siddur people were finding the way the instructions were presented at the bottom of the page confusing. To rectify this problem and make things easier, the instructions have been re-written more clearly and placed before the index. (A Parashot Reading list has also been added, you will still need to consult a schedule for the proper weeks reading list.) Since the release of the "Deluxe Edition", I have learned a lot and have added to the benedictions and prayers as well as the insights. The layout of the English/Hebrew/Transliteration has been improved.. Hope you enjoy this Edition and may G-d bless you! R' David Isaac The following are included in this Edition: Parashot List (Includes Readings for Rosh Chodesh), Directions given for each Service Includes the following Services: Season of our Freedom- Four Week Preparation for Pesach Shabbat haGadol, Counting of the Omer, Announcement of the New Moon, Rosh Chodesh, Passover Haggadah, Four Special Sabbaths: Shekalim/ Zachor/ Para/ Hahodesh, Includes Optional Prayers that can be added to Service: Disciple's Prayer (a.k.a -The L-rd's Prayer), The Havineinu, Prayer of Rabbi Judah the Prince, This Siddur also contains 35 pages of notes/ commentary

Book excerpt: A landmark publication in the social sciences, Linda Lindsey’s Gender is the most comprehensive textbook to explore gender sociologically, as a critical and fundamental dimension of a person’s identity, interactions, development, and role and status in society. Ranging in scope from the everyday lived experiences of individuals to the complex patterns and structures of gender that are produced by institutions in our global society, the book reveals how understandings of gender vary across time and place and shift along the intersecting lines of race, ethnicity, culture, sexuality, class and religion. Arriving at a time of enormous social change, the new, seventh edition extends its rigorous, theoretical approach to reflect on recent events and issues with insights that challenge conventional thought about the gender binary and the stereotypes that result. Recent and emerging topics that are investigated include the #MeToo and LGBTQ-rights movements, political misogyny in the Trump era, norms of masculinity, marriage and family formation, resurgent feminist activism and praxis, the gendered workplace, and profound consequences of neoliberal globalization. Enriching its sociological approach with interdisciplinary insight from feminist, biological, psychological, historical, and anthropological perspectives, the new edition of Gender provides a balanced and broad approach with readable, dynamic content that furthers student understanding, both of the importance of gender and how it shapes individual trajectories and social processes in the U.S. and across the globe.

Book Anti Semitism and Psychiatry

Download or read book Anti Semitism and Psychiatry written by H. Steven Moffic and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-02-25 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following World War II and the exposure of the concentration camps, psychiatry turned its attention to a vast range of cultural concerns with results that seemed to indicate a decline of stigma over time. However, it is now clear that whatever drives prejudices, especially in the case of anti-Semitism, was just dormant and perhaps not fully understood. Hate crimes and anti-Semitism broad recently re-emerged in Europe, and the United States followed shortly thereafter. The US Federal Bureau of investigation reports that New York City, which is still considered the most Jewish-friendly region in the US, experienced a 22% spike in anti-Semitic hate crimes in 2018 alone, with more extremes in other regions of the country. Neo-Nazi groups have grown stronger in the United States and abroad, often resulting in organized acts of violence. The recent Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh, PA demonstrated that these acts are not limited to one-on-one interactions, but sometimes as prolific, large-scale act. The medical community is not immune from biases either. The Cleveland Clinic recently fired a young doctor after she publicly declared her wishes to inject Jewish patients with lethal substances, which is only one of many hateful comments she made on social media over the course of several years. Psychiatrists in particular grapple with this as they try to serve patients of both Jewish and non-Jewish descent who struggle to process these acts of hate. Despite all of this, there is no training and no resource to guide medical professionals through these challenges. The editors of the recent Springer book, Islamophobia and Psychiatry, recognize this gap in the literature and seek to develop another high-quality text to meet this need. Written by expert clinicians in global regions where these incidents are most prevalent, the book seeks to be neither political nor opinion-based; instead, the text takes an innovative cross-cultural psychiatric interaction, similar to what was done with Springer’s new Islamophobia book. Coverage will range from foci on the social psychiatric aspects of anti-Semitism to how it may in turn infuse clinical encounters between patients and clinicians. Written by experts in this area, the insight and expertise of psychiatrists from a variety of cultural and religious backgrounds will focus on what psychiatrists need to know to combat the negative mental health impact that increasingly rise out of this particular phenomenon. Such a multi-cultural psychiatric approach has never been taken before for this topic. This discourse is the foundation for the primary goal of this book: to develop the tools needed to improve clinical outcomes for patients. Hence, this book aims to present an updated, comprehensive bio-psychosocial perspective on anti-Semitism at the interface of clinical psychiatry.
