Book Shakespeare s Revelations Classic Reprint

Download or read book Shakespeare s Revelations Classic Reprint written by Sarah Taylor Shatford and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-04-21 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Shakespeare's Revelations To the one who has compiled for me these lines I'll speak for her these words. She has been mine instrument indeed, varying, immobile as ever a spirit's tool is, yet strained not at all, never snapped a string while working out this volume in words here spoken in her right ear, outside the body, by her side, inside the mental equipment truly, opening one door after another, through her work, (as she progressed we moved higher let me say) until we could reach her audibly anywhere, anytime whatever. To those who revile a medium I wish to speak here for the rest of time, which is God's eternity. To brand the culprit who defames, underestimates the instrument through which his work is accomplished, stigmatized in spirit as foul and poor, I take this place to proclaim of highest value in the sordid world at this hour a living electric charged battery connecting the unseen living with the seen dying verily through whose currents magnetic, spirituelle (above all this) attuned to higher sounds than grovelling mortals hear, we work, and all must work, for Spirit. Book Shakespeare

Download or read book Shakespeare written by Henry Lumley and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-24 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Shakespeare: A Revelation When the meeting broke up, Geofi'rey Courthope and a couple of his friends left together, and, at the invitation of the former, finished the evening at his pleasant bachelor mansion in Michigan Avenue. Courthope was unmarried and very rich. He was, more over, twenty-five years of age and all alone in the world; for his devoted parents had left him the legacies of a sweet nature, a studious mind and many millions of dollars. He still retained the first, and his mind he had further stored by learning but his fortune might have been seriously affected if it had not been so large, for he had a hobby, and hobbies are expensive. His was Shakespeare and Geoffrey's mind was fully receptive to the beautiful, and keenly sensitive to the philosophy and humanity of the Poet and Playwright. Book Is It Shakespeare

Download or read book Is It Shakespeare written by A. Cambridge Graduate and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-13 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Is It Shakespeare?: The Great Question of Elizabethan Literature, Answered in the Light of New Revelations and Important Contemporary Evidence Hitherto Unnoticed Who knows not how difficult it always is to great people to alter their preconceived ideas or their traditional beliefs? But whenever sufficient evidence has been discovered in support of a change of current opinion, then it is, I think, just as well that some one should collect it and present it to the public, making, at the same time, such additions from his own researches as may help to settle the question. That is my excuse for this volume. If people were afraid to offer rebutting evidence because all the leading literary authorities had declared that there was no evidence against them that was not "irrational," we should make very slow progress in research. Look at theology; how often have the big guns and canons of the Church declared that the evidence for the antipodes and the motion of the earth was "irrational." If no one had ventured to oppose this idea in the face of their tremendous authority, we might still all be holding the apparently very sensible opinion that the earth is fixed and flat. To me the question of the authorship of those immortal works which have so long borne on them the name of William Shakespeare is one of the most interesting we can discuss in literary criticism. Book Bacon and Shakespeare Classic Reprint

Download or read book Bacon and Shakespeare Classic Reprint written by Albert Frederick Calvert and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-04 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bacon and Shakespeare The conclusions I have formed with respect to the two cipher revelations which are now agitating the minds of both Shakespeareans and Baconians are derived partly from my estimate of the character of Bacon, partly from the apparent sincerity of Mrs. Gallup, and partly again from what I know of other and entirely independent decipherations of further Bacon messages, which are now being actively made in this country. Of Mrs. Gallup I only know that which her book and her publishers reveal. Of Dr. Orville W. Owen, the discoverer of the word-cipher I learn, front an American source, quoted by way of a testimonial in one of the doctor's books, that he is a man who has reached middle age, and who has never shown the slightest sign of possessing unusual or extraordinary literary skill, or genius. In other words, his sponsors assure us that he is incapable of writing those portions of Shakespeare which form so great a part of his decipherations, or even the connecting passages which appear to have been contributed by Bacon. We must accept this opinion as a tribute of personal character. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Hidden Lives of Shakespeare and Bacon and Their Business Connection

Download or read book The Hidden Lives of Shakespeare and Bacon and Their Business Connection written by W. G. Thorpe and published by . This book was released on 2015-08-06 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Hidden Lives of Shakespeare and Bacon and Their Business Connection: With Some Revelations of Shakespeare's Early Struggles 1587-1592 Mr. Halliwell-Phillipps in his "Outlines of the Life of Shakespeare," seveth edition, thus forecasts the future of the still expanding Shakespeare cult. "In the absence of some very important and unexpected discovery, the general desire to penetrate the mystery which surrounds the personal history of Shakespeare cannot be gratified. "It is not likely that much beyond a very imperfect sketch of the material features of his life will ever be revealed ... but so vivid is the general interest enforced by the publication of the minutest new fact regarding the word's greatest author that this unsatisfactory position hardly accounts for an inclination not unfrequently manifested ... for the setting up of a mythical Shakespeare. "Such an inclination may sometimes arise from a reluctance to believe that the object of our idolatry excluded the admission of human frailty." Book Manuscripts of the Book of Revelation

Download or read book Manuscripts of the Book of Revelation written by Garrick V. Allen and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020-07-30 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Revelation is a disorienting work, full of beasts, heavenly journeys, holy war, the End of the Age, and the New Jerusalem. It is difficult to follow the thread that ties the visions together and to makes sense of the work's message. In Manuscripts of the Book of Revelation, Garrick Allen argues that one way to understand the strange history of Revelation and its challenging texts is to go back to its manuscripts. The texts of the Greek manuscripts of Revelation are the foundation for the words that we encounter when we read Revelation in a modern Bible. But the manuscripts also tell us what other ancient, medieval, and early modern people thought about the work they copied and read. The paratexts of Revelation—the many features of the manuscripts that help readers to interpret the text—are one important point of evidence. Incorporating such diverse features like the traditional apparatus that accompanies ancient commentaries to the random marginal notes that identify the true identity of the beast, paratexts are founts of information on how other mostly anonymous people interpreted Revelation's problem texts. Allen argues that manuscripts are not just important for textual critics or antiquarians, but that they are important for scholars and serious students because they are the essential substance of what the New Testament is. This book illustrates ways that the manuscripts illuminate surprising answers to important critical questions. We can learn to 'read' the manuscripts even if we don't know the language.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Book of Revelations IN perusing the three books of the series consecutively the reader will notice the pro g ress made in the last volumes. Certain ques tions about which there was doubt have been elucidated and somewhat altered; such as our destinies, who makes them, if any one, or how they happen to be as they are. The manner in which our guides lead us, is another. The code of signals between us and our guides has developed into a science of prophecy. All of which points to the increasing advance in the psychic as well as in the altogether material things of life. Book The Book of Revelation Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Book of Revelation Classic Reprint written by William Milligan and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-09 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Book of Revelation In ordinary circumstances one who undertakes to comment upon a book of the New Testament may be justly expected to make every effort to explain each successive clause and each difficult expression of the book on which he writes. My aim in the following Commentary is rather to catch the general import and object of the Revelation of St. John considered as a whole. The latter purpose indeed cannot be attained unless the commentator has himself paid faithful attention to the former; but it is not necessary that the results of these inquiries should in every case be presented to the English reader. To him this book is for the most part a perplexity and enigma, and he would only be embarrassed by a multitude of details. It seemed well, therefore, to treat the book in its sections and paragraphs rather than verse by verse; and this is the course pursued in the following pages. The translation used is for the most part that of the Revised Version. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Shakespeare Sex and the Print Revolution

Download or read book Shakespeare Sex and the Print Revolution written by Gordon Williams and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2000-12-01 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates how the sexual element in Shakespeare's works is complicated and compromised by the impact of print. Whether the issue is one of censorship and evasion or sexual redefinition, the fact that Shakespeare wrote in the first century of popular print is crucial. Out of the newly-accessible classical canon he creates a reconstituted idea of the sexual temptress; and out of the Counter-Reformation propaganda he fashions his own complex thinking about the prostitute. Shakespeare's theatrical scripts, meeting-ground fro the spoken and written word, contribute powerfully to those socio-sexual debates which had been re-energized by print.

Book Shakespeare Bakhtin and Film

Download or read book Shakespeare Bakhtin and Film written by Keith Harrison and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-08-16 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores how Bakhtin’s ideas can illuminate the compelling but uneasy fusion of Shakespeare and cinema. With a wide variety of tones, languages, cultural orientations, and thematic concerns, film directors have updated, translated, transposed, fragmented, parodied, and geographically re-situated Shakespeare. Keith Harrison illustrates how Bakhtin’s interlinked writings in various fields can fruitfully be applied to an understanding of how the ongoing responsiveness of filmmakers to Shakespeare’s historically remote words can shape self-expressive acts of co-authoring in another medium. Through the use of such Bakhtinian concepts as the chronotope, heteroglossia, the carnivalesque, and polyphony, Harrison details how filmmakers—faithful to their specific cultures, genders, geographies, and historical moments—dialogically locate their particularity through Shakespeare’s presence.

Book The Revelation of John Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Revelation of John Classic Reprint written by Edward Clarence Farnsworth and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-19 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Revelation of John On the other hand, if he be possessed of that special information which should qualify the inter preter for his office, another snare is waiting to trap him as we shall see. Study of Eastern religions and philosophies has revealed to many investigators that the pure, and noble, and uplifting, is not the sole property of Christianity. This discovery has some times resulted in a belittling of Jesus the Christ, whereas he is the chief cornerstone of that Temple of Truth into which many great and dedicated lives have been builded. This being so, let the qualified interpreter refrain from substituting for the name of Jesus Christ that of another, however exalted. If to such an interpreter the book of Revelation seem only a series of chapters taken from the initiatory rites of the Ancient Mysteries, it must be admitted that, for reasons to be explained presently, his ingenuity and special knowledge can make the book conform in a way to his theory, but it should be said that his meanings, however plausible, will be only secondary and, at a time like the present, his giving will be but a stone to those who cry for bread. Reve lation deals with world-happenings, in fact with the renovation of the human race and the earth itself, and not with that merely personal development for which the Mysteries existed, and which is only a type, the little likeness of the large.
