Book Shadow Matter and Psychic Phenomena

Download or read book Shadow Matter and Psychic Phenomena written by Gerhard D. Wassermann and published by . This book was released on 1993-01-01 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A scientist casts new light on psychic phenomena, such as clairvoyance, telepathy, and 'out of body experiences'. He presents an exciting new theory which explains such phenomena, linking the recently discovered 'Shadow Matter' world of physics with parapsychology. It replaces notions of the occult with important new ideas that are figuring in physics (even in recent television programmes). The book contains case histories, showing how this new theory could account for telepathy, clairvoyance, 'out of the body experiences', and apparitions of the living and the dead in terms of Shadow Matter. It also explains how Shadow Matter theory could account for the survival of the human personality after death of the body. The author builds on theories until now discussed only in academic journals. This theory was first published in brief outline in the journal Inquiry in 1988. It develops the concept of the Shadow Matter world introduced in the journal Nature in 1985. Suitable for general readers interested in new developments in science; general readers interested in parapsychology and the occult; specialists and scholars, especially in physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, philosophy and medicine.

Download or read book Dark Cognition written by David Vernon and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-10-01 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: *Winner of the Parapsychological Association Book Award 2021* Outlining the scientific evidence behind psi research, Dark Cognition expertly reveals that such anomalous phenomena clearly exist, highlighting that the prevailing view of consciousness, purely as a phenomenon of the brain, fails to account for the empirical findings. David Vernon provides essential coverage of information and evidence for a variety of anomalous psi phenomena, calling for a paradigm shift in how we view consciousness: from seeing it as something solely reliant on the brain to something that is enigmatic, fundamental and all pervasive. The book examines the nature of psi research showing that, despite claims to the contrary, it is clearly a scientific endeavour. It explores evidence from telepathy and scopaesthesia, clairvoyance and remote viewing, precognition, psychokinesis, fields of consciousness, energy healing, out of body experiences, near-death experiences and post death phenomena, showing that not only do these phenomena exist, but that they have significant implications for our understanding of consciousness. Featuring discussion on scientific research methods, reflections on the fields of dark cognition and end-of-chapter questions that encourage critical thinking, this book is an essential text for those interested in parapsychology, consciousness and cognitive psychology.

In a surprising manner, this book provides a basis in physics for mystical/spiritual phenomena. New discoveries from science regarding dark matter and dark energy are utilized to explain unanswered questions on the nature of paranormal phenomena, psychic phenomena, out-of-body experiences, near-death experiences, reincarnation, and a whole range of mystical phenomena. Dr. Deno Kazanis also presents an inspiring perspective on the traditional teachings and practices mankind has utilized to experience these phenomena. Difficult concepts of science relevant to this discussion, are presented in a readable and concise manner bringing the reader in as a partner in inquiry as well as inviting one to give language and credibility to personal experiences that are easily shared with others.

Book Science and Psychic Phenomena

Download or read book Science and Psychic Phenomena written by Chris Carter and published by Inner Traditions. This book was released on 2012-02-22 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A factual and conscientious argument against materialism’s vehement denial of psi phenomena • Explores the scandalous history of parapsychology since the scientific revolution of the 17th century • Provides reproducible evidence from scientific research that telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, and psychokinesis are real • Shows that skepticism of psi phenomena is based more on a religion of materialism than on hard science Reports of psychic abilities, such as telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, and psychokinesis, date back to the beginning of recorded human history in all cultures. Documented, reproducible evidence exists that these abilities are real, yet the mainstream scientific community has vehemently denied the existence of psi phenomena for centuries. The battle over the reality of psi has carried on in scientific academies, courtrooms, scholarly journals, newspapers, and radio stations and has included scandals, wild accusations, ruined reputations, as well as bizarre characters on both sides of the debate. If true evidence exists, why then is the study of psi phenomena--parapsychology--so controversial? And why has the controversy lasted for centuries? Exploring the scandalous history of parapsychology and citing decades of research, Chris Carter shows that, contrary to mainstream belief, replicable evidence of psi phenomena exists. The controversy over parapsychology continues not because ESP and other abilities cannot be verified but because their existence challenges deeply held worldviews more strongly rooted in religious and philosophical beliefs than in hard science. Carter reveals how the doctrine of materialism--in which nothing matters but matter--has become an infallible article of faith for many scientists and philosophers, much like the convictions of religious fundamentalists. Consequently, the possibility of psychic abilities cannot be tolerated because their existence would refute materialism and contradict a deeply ingrained ideology. By outlining the origin of this passionate debate, Carter calls on all open-minded individuals to disregard the church of skepticism and reach their own conclusions by looking at the vast body of evidence.

Book More Than Meets the Eye

Download or read book More Than Meets the Eye written by Hanna Zacks and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2011-04-12 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the book, More than Meets the Eye; A Journey into the Mysteries of Psychic Phenomena, I invite the reader to join me in a fascinating trip to the field known as parapsychology. Parapsychology, or psi phenomena, are psychic events which do not lend themselves to regular explanation based on evidence provided by the senses; they are said to be extrasensory. These phenomena are: telepathy, clairvoyance, psychokinesis, and precognition. Our communication is based ordinarily on hearing or reading the others words, but in telepathic communication we are said to know the others thoughts directly, without the mediation of the senses. In clairvoyance, known also as remote viewing, we are said to see remote places without using the eyes. In psychokinesis we are said to be able to bend, push, or break objects without touching them, and in precognition we have direct glimpses of the future. Are telepathy, clairvoyance and other kinds of psychic phenomena real, or are they figments of an overly active imagination? And what about phenomena such as out-of-body experiences, apparitions of dead people, and reincarnation? Are such phenomena real? On the basis of my own experience, of the experiences of people I had interviewed, and of information I had gleaned from books by credible authors, I reach certain interesting conclusions which I share with the reader.

Book Yoga Parapsychology

Download or read book Yoga Parapsychology written by K. Ramakrishna Rao and published by Motilal Banarsidass. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Yoga and Parapsychology are two areas in which a significant amount of professional research is awaited. Parapsychology, considered as the discipline to study psi(psychic abilities), is essentially the science of siddhis (extraordinary human abilities). Yoga is considered to be an effective psycho-spiritual pursuit that results in the manifestation of a variety of supernormal phenomena. In fact, Patanjali's Yoga-Sutras is the foundational text of psychic science. One of its four parts, Vibhuti Pada, is filled with the description and discussion of a variety of paranormal phenomena. There is thus an intrinsic commonality between yoga and parapsychology, which remains essentially unexplored in any systematic way. A serious and scientific study of the two and the resultant synergy of their confluence could result in resolving many of the riddles that puzzle parapsychology today and be a harbinger of a vibrant science opening up new frontiers. Further, it could be seen as a productive East-West meet in a profound sense. Keeping this in view, a national conference and a workshop were organized during January 3-23, 2006 at Andhra University by the Institute for Human Science and Service with international participation. The present volume is a compilation of the major presentations at the conference and workshop, which are appropriately revised and edited in light of the discussions. The contents of the volume contain theoretical articles and reviews as well as experimental reports. Contributors come from different countries besides India, including the United States of America, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands. Thus, the volume is international in scope and coverage.

Book Evidence for Psi

Download or read book Evidence for Psi written by Damien Broderick and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2014-11-19 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Psi" is the term used by researchers for a variety of demonstrable but elusive psychic phenomena. This collection of essays provides a detailed survey of the evidence for psi at the level of scientific examination. Key features of apparent psi phenomena are reviewed, including precognition and remote perception (knowledge of future or distant events that cannot be inferred from present information), presentiment (physiological responses to stimuli that have not yet occurred), the effects of human emotions on globally dispersed machines, the possible impact of local sidereal time on psi performance, and the familiar feeling of knowing who is calling on the phone. Special attention is given to those phenomena that make it difficult for scientists to get a clear understanding of psi. The body of psi research, while complex and frustrating, is shown to contain sufficiently compelling positive evidence to convince the rational open-minded observer that psi is real, and that one or more physical processes probably underlie observed psi phenomena.

Book Science and Supernature

Download or read book Science and Supernature written by James E. Alcock and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is there more to our existence than modern science can measure? For more than a hundred years, parapsychology - the scientific study of paranormal phenomena - has tried to find the answer to this question. In Science and Supernature, psychologist James E. Alcock presents a critical evaluation of parapsychological research and reviews the current status of the evidence. The book is divided into two parts. In Part 1, Dr. Alcock discusses a number of key questions: - What are "psychic" phenomena? - If they exist, how can they be detected? - What is the evidence for "psi"? - Does parapsychology follow the rules of science? - Are the critics fair? He concludes that, to accept the reality of psychic phenomena, "we must accept that some force or process exists that cannot at this time be described in terms of positive properties, but only in terms of what it is not; a force that is capable of allowing for direct communication between two brains, regardless of the distance between them, and that allows the mind . . . to influence matter in such a way as to gain some desired goal." Part 2, "Psi in the Laboratory," is adapted from the Background Paper Dr. Alcock was commissioned to write for the National Academy of Sciences for its now controversial report "Evaluating Human Performance." Here, Alcock reviews two areas of research that are considered by parapsychologists to be among the "best cases" in the field: the study of psychokinesis (mind over matter) and/or clairvoyance using random-event generators, and the study of remote-viewing by physicists Russell Targ and Harold Puthoff at the Stanford Research Institute. Alcock's judgements are stimulating and fair-minded. This is an important book for everyone interested in the study of psychic phenomena.

Book The Conscious Universe

Download or read book The Conscious Universe written by Dean Radin and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2010-10-26 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This myth-shattering book explains the evidence for the veracity of psychic phenomena, uniting the teachings of mystics, the theories of quantum physics, and the latest in high-tech experiments. With painstaking research and deft, engaging prose, Radin dispels the misinformation and superstition that have clouded the understanding of scientists and laypeople alike concerning a host of fascinating oddities. Psychokinesis, remote viewing, prayer, jinxes, and more--all are real, all have been scientifically proven, and the proof is in this book. Radin draws from his own work at Princeton, Stanford Research Institute, and Fortune 500 companies, as well as his research for the U.S. government, to demonstrate the surprising extent to which the truth of psi has already been tacitly acknowledged and exploited. The Conscious Universe also sifts the data for tantalizing hints of how mind and matter are linked. Finally, Radin takes a bold look ahead, to the inevitable social, economic, academic, and spiritual consequences of the mass realization that mind and matter can influence each other without having physical contact.

Book PSI What It Is and How It Works

Download or read book PSI What It Is and How It Works written by Keith Chandler and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2001-11 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PSI or parapsychological phenomena have been investigated by serious researchers for well over a century. Despite some diehard skeptics, the existence of PSI has now been solidly established by competent scientists using the most rigorous methodologies. Yet, a complete understanding of the phenomena of telepathy, precognition, clairvoyance, and psychokinesis has remained elusive for two reasons. First, a new worldview was needed to replace the outdated materialism assumed by so many scientists and philosophers. That view, “Mental Realism,” was developed in Keith Chandler’s last book, The Mind Paradigm: A Unified Model of Mental and Physical Reality. Second, a thorough review of the evidence for PSI was required to expose the erroneous assumptions that had hindered its theoretical progress. That task has been successfully undertaken by the author enabling him to entitle this book simply: PSI: What it is and How it works. With this book, Keith Chandler has now brought us full circle from the clockwork, sensory-bound world of Descartes and Newton to an understanding of our universe as a manifestation of purposeful, intelligent psychic energy. He has also finally removed parapsychology from the category of the “occult” and placed it where it belongs, in the domain of legitimate science.
