Book Shades of Light Might Right and Insight

Download or read book Shades of Light Might Right and Insight written by Jeff Forman and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2019-11-20 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A poet since childhood encouraged by my dear mother, most poems here span the last decade as my output’s become more ambitious with increasingly prolific and complex rhyming naturally occurring. Several poems were inspired by observations in nature. Others emanate from many glass receptacles illuminated with votive candles that I’ve artistically themed with names, displayed on plant stands, sometimes becoming allegories on or personifications of life. Another influence comes from films, adeptly highlighting prominent themes and poignant roles portrayed in ways that have eloquently personified a wide range of human behavior and interaction enacted displaying real life tragedies and triumphs. As spiritual beings living human lives, we’re all challenged with the choices we make via the free will God’s granted us and ultimately how those actions align us with either good or evil. And that’s the central wellspring of most of my poetry. As an astute societal observer, I’m staunchly a humanitarian individual desiring peace who seeks truth and wants to enrich, inspire and enlighten all who embrace my work which is humbly themed from the heart to serve, uplift and heal greater humanity and our planet which is currently in crisis with much suffering and injustice worldwide.

Book A concordance to the rhymes of The Faerie Queene

Download or read book A concordance to the rhymes of The Faerie Queene written by Richard Danson Brown and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2021-01-26 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first ever concordance to the rhymes of Spenser’s epic. It gives the reader unparalleled access to the formal nuts and bolts of this massive poem: the rhymes which he used to structure its intricate stanzas. As well as the main concordance to the rhymes, the volume features a wealth of ancillary materials, which will be of value to both professional Spenserians and students, including distribution lists and an alphabetical listing of all the words in The Faerie Queene. The volume breaks new ground by including two studies by Richard Danson Brown and J. B. Lethbridge, so that the reader is given provocative analyses alongside the raw data about Spenser as a rhymer. Brown considers the reception of rhyme, theoretical models and how Spenser’s rhymes may be reading for meaning. Lethbridge in contrast discusses the formulaic and rhetorical character of the rhymes.

Book Local Insights Global Ethics for Business

Download or read book Local Insights Global Ethics for Business written by Daryl Koehn and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-11-08 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book evaluates strategies for managing ethical conflict. Macro-approaches that attribute select values to entire peoples and claim supremacy for these values are suspect. A micro-approach, focusing on the ethics of individual thinkers, is better. The study uses the ethics of Confucius and Tetsuro Watsuji to derive a process-based universal ethic that respects local differences yet is not relativistic.

And then I spent a whole weekend in bed, and the crying wouldn't stop, and I got really scared. I've had bouts with depression before—it's kind of a cloud I've learned to live with—but this time was different. I felt like I was going under, like I'd never feel hopeful again, and then that just made my anxiety worse and it all spiraled from there." Wren Crawford is a social worker who finds herself overwhelmed with the troubles of the world. Her lifelong struggles with anxiety and depression are starting to overcome her. She finds solace in art, spiritual formation, and pastoral care along with traditional therapeutic interventions. But a complicated relationship from her past also threatens to undo her progress. Fans of Sharon Brown's bestselling Sensible Shoes Series will be delighted to discover some old friends along the way. As Wren seeks healing in this beautifully written novel, readers are invited to move beyond pat answers and shallow theology into an experience of hope and presence that illuminates even the darkness.

Book Perception Cognition Interface Cross Modal Experiences Insights into Unified Consciousness

Download or read book Perception Cognition Interface Cross Modal Experiences Insights into Unified Consciousness written by Aleksandra Mroczko-Wąsowicz and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2017-01-26 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present Research Topic explores closely related aspects of mental functioning, namely an interplay between perception and cognition, interactions among various sensory modalities, and finally, more or less unified conscious experiences arising in the context of these relations. Contributions emphasize a high flexibility observed in perception and may be seen as potential challenges to the traditional modular architecture of perceptual systems. Although the articles describe different phenomena, they follow one common theme - to investigate broadly understood unified experience - by studying either perception-cognition integration or the integration between sensory modalities. These integrative processes may well apply to subpersonal unconscious representations. However, the aim here is to approach phenomenal experience and thus a straightforward way of thinking about it is in terms of conscious perception. Putting together scientific and philosophical concerns, this special issue encourages extending the study of perceptual experience beyond the single sense perception to advance our understanding of the complex interdependencies between different sensory modalities, other mental domains, and various kinds of unifying relations within conscious experience. It exhibits a remarkable need to study these phenomena in tangent, and so, the authors examine a variety of ways in which our perceptual experiences may be cross-modal or multisensory, integrated, embodied, synesthetic, cognitively penetrated, or otherwise affected by top-down influences. The Research Topic comprises theoretical and empirical contributions of such fields as philosophy of mind, cognitive science, psychology, and neuroscience in the form of hypothesis and theory articles, original research articles, opinion papers, reviews, and commentaries.

Book The Suffering of Light

Download or read book The Suffering of Light written by Alex Webb and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Review The images - rich in color and visual rhythm - span 30 years and several continents. Of course, Haiti and the Mexican border are well represented, locales that opened up a new way to see. He has been able to render Haiti - a place often depicted for its chaos - with a precise eye, finding personal moments that are as still as they are complex. He can use shadows as skillfully as a be-bop musician to set the tempo. The people in his frames can look like dwarfs being stomped on by giant, disembodied feet. He can make an American street seem far more foreboding than any Third World slum. (David Gonzalez The New York Times 2011-12-18) A 30-year retrospective of a great, and often overlooked, American pioneer of colour photography who pays scant regard to genre boundaries, merging art photography, photojournalism and often complex street photographs. (Sean O'Hagan The Guardian 2011-12-13) In far-flung corners of the globe, Webb captures glimpses of beauty in impoverished lives and stoicism in the face of strife. (Jack Crager American Photo 2011-12-01).

Book How To Be Insightful

Download or read book How To Be Insightful written by Sam Knowles and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-05-05 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do we advance? As individuals, families, and businesses? As societies, nations, and a species? In a world where it’s said there is nothing new under the sun, we humans are remarkably resourceful at creating new things. The key to innovation is understanding, but not just by using facts, data, and casual observations. Progress demands the profound and useful understanding of a person or a thing, a situation or an issue. And profound and useful understanding that truly effects change is that most elusive of phenomena: insight. How To Be Insightful provides a novel and deeply practical framework that anyone can use to generate more powerful and impactful insights from the increasing volumes of data we all face every day, whatever we do. The framework – the STEP Prism of Insight – has been developed through decades of both practice and training, and the book includes many exercises designed to help strengthen and develop readers’ insight muscles. The book explains the history, psychology, and neuroscience of insight and includes snapshots of insight from international experts in many different fields – psychology and neuroscience, music and acting, forensic science and market research.

Book Mrs Dalloway

    Book Details:
  • Author : Virginia Woolf
  • Publisher : Good Press
  • Release : 2023-12-28
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 196 pages

Download or read book Mrs Dalloway written by Virginia Woolf and published by Good Press. This book was released on 2023-12-28 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mrs Dalloway, Virginia Woolf's fourth novel, offers the reader an impression of a single June day in London in 1923. Clarissa Dalloway, the wife of a Conservative member of parliament, is preparing to give an evening party, while the shell-shocked Septimus Warren Smith hears the birds in Regent's Park chattering in Greek. There seems to be nothing, except perhaps London, to link Clarissa and Septimus. She is middle-aged and prosperous, with a sheltered happy life behind her; Smith is young, poor, and driven to hatred of himself and the whole human race. Yet both share a terror of existence, and sense the pull of death. The world of Mrs Dalloway is evoked in Woolf's famous stream of consciousness style, in a lyrical and haunting language which has made this, from its publication in 1925, one of her most popular novels.
