Book Leading Change

Download or read book Leading Change written by Angela Andrew and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 2004, The Department of the Army has been required to provide an annual report on sexual assault. The Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) office has been the lead agent for the report and program. Over the years, the SHARP office has gone through several organizational changes due to Department of Defense directed mandates and internal Army decisions. This paper examined the Army's SHARP program from 2004 to 2011 by using Kotter's eight-step process of creating major change in an organization. This examination of Army decisions and programs within each of the eight steps showed that the Army has made many significant improvements to address this issue and anchor these changes within its culture. In concluding, this paper provided recommendations in four areas related to formally developing a vision for the SHARP program and using additional ways to communicate the vision and programs to members of the active Army and more specifically to the Reserve Component.

Book Sexual Assault in the Military

Download or read book Sexual Assault in the Military written by Cheryl Lawhorne-Scott and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2014-04-04 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sexual assault and harassment in the military have been a critical subject for years. Many victims may be reluctant to press charges because of fear of retaliation, damage to their careers, and widespread uncertainty regarding the military justice system. However, when circumstances arise, there are resources available to assist victims and families in their efforts to report, seek help, and recover from the effects of sexual assault. Yet, finding those resources can be challenging, especially in a time of crisis. Sexual Assault in the Military serves as an easy-to-use, comprehensive reference guide for military members and their families about sexual assault and harassment. While more and more attention focuses on getting victims to report their abuse, accessing information can still be difficult for service-members. Understanding that the military is making changes, and offering support is a necessary step towards how best to treat these cases and how to get help and justice. Cheryl Lawhorne-Scott and Don Philpott discuss the current state of affairs, the systems in place, and the supports available to victims and families. They provide documents that outline how reporting can and should take place, how cases should be handled through the military justice system, and how and where victims can access resources, including counseling. By providing this information in one ready resource, the authors hope to assist in changing the culture of silence and fear, as well as provide education surrounding military sexual assault and harassment.

Book Sexual Assault in the U S Military

Download or read book Sexual Assault in the U S Military written by Rosemarie Skaine and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2015-12-01 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an in-depth analysis of sexual assault in the military from historical and contemporary perspectives, offering suggestions that could change the existing culture and approaches that will reduce or eliminate sexual assault in the armed forces. Sexual assault has been an aspect of the U.S. military historically and is today widely recognized as a significant problem with far-reaching repercussions. How does sexual assault negatively impact not only the victims themselves but also the U.S. military's strength, readiness, and morale? This book answers these questions and documents the problems with reporting and prosecuting sexual assault complaints within our armed forces, examines the current policy and laws to identify what changes are needed, and analyzes recent efforts to prevent sexual assault. Author Rosemarie Skaine introduces the subject with a historical perspective that covers women, men, gays and lesbians, and non-military personnel as the subjects of sexual assault and provides readers with clear definitions of sexual harassment and sexual assault. The chapters explain how sexual assault negatively affects the military's performance as a whole, thereby serving to undermine national security; and covers preventative approaches and legislation intended to change the current military culture. The book also includes a bibliography, tables of key figures, and footnotes and endnotes that fully document the data presented.

Book Campus Action against Sexual Assault

Download or read book Campus Action against Sexual Assault written by Michele A. Paludi and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2016-05-16 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A practical guide to prevention of and response to sexual assault on college campuses, this invaluable resource will help ensure Title IX compliance—and can also help reduce the incidence of these all-too-prevalent events. The frequency of sexual assault on college campuses is startlingly high. Notwithstanding this fact, most campus officials are not trained in the psychology of the victimization process, while most students are not aware of their reporting options. A practical guide to sexual assault at colleges and universities, this book integrates theories and empirical research with information about legislation and techniques to help college administrators deal with—and prevent—these disturbing offenses. The work brings together a team of experts who discuss various types of assault, including rape, stalking, intimate partner violence, and sexual harassment, and detail the legal, educational, and federal responses to such events on college campuses. They address federal and state laws, including new bills being proposed in Congress, and present research on the physical and psychological dimensions of sexual assault. Perhaps most important, the book shows how human resource techniques and principles can be used to establish preventative measures and to respond appropriately when sexual assault does occur. Students' accounts of prevention training and education enhance the scholarly and legal contributions to this important—and timely—volume.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interior Freedom leads one to discover that even in the most unfavorable outward circumstances we possess within ourselves a space of freedom that nobody can take away, because God is its source and guarantee. Without this discovery we will always be restricted in some way and will never taste true happiness. Author Jacques Philippe develops a simple but important theme: we gain possession of our interior freedom in exact proportion to our growth in faith, hope, and love. He explains that the dynamism between these three theological virtues is the heart of the spiritual life, and he underlines the key role of the virtue of hope in our inner growth. Written in a simple and inviting style, Interior Freedom seeks to liberate the heart and mind to live the true freedom to which God calls each one.
