Book excerpt: 'This unique and fascinating book carefully traces aspects of the personality of sextuplets which persist from birth onwards. The way in which the personal characteristics of both the mother and her children influence the quality of maternal care and relationships with peers is also carefully compared and delineated. What is most original and striking about this book is the examination of sibling group relationships and the description of the sextuplets' early innate characteristics and interactions in early childhood through both psychological testing and infant observations and then shows how specific characteristics and interactions persist through early adult life. It is essential reading for many professionals involved in child development studies including doctors, teachers, psychologists, psychotherapists and health visitors.'- Jeanne Magagna, Phd, Consultant Psychotherapist, Ellern Mede Centre and former Head of Psychotherapy Services, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children

Book Six Little Miracles

Download or read book Six Little Miracles written by Janet Walton and published by Random House. This book was released on 2015-02-12 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Janet had been told she couldn't have children, so she and her husband Graham were overjoyed to find out she was pregnant. Then they told it was not just one baby, but six! On 18 November 1983, Janet Walton gave birth to the world’s first all-female sextuplets: Hannah, Lucy, Ruth, Sarah, Kate and Jennie. Janet takes us through the reality of parenting six children of the same age – the extreme sleep deprivation, the bottle-feeding, and later the chaotic routine of getting six girls to school on time. As they grew up, Janet learned to keep a sense of humour through the teenage tantrums and boy trouble, and she watched her little girls blossom into individual, confident young women. She has loved every minute.

Book Contextual Ear Training

    Book Details:
  • Author : Bruce Arnold
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2007
  • ISBN : 9781594898853
  • Pages : 32 pages

Download or read book Contextual Ear Training written by Bruce Arnold and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comes with no CDs. You will need four CDs to work with this book. These CDs can be bought separately or you may download MP3 files from various on-line vendors. Contextual Ear Training is a major expansion of the "One Note" exercise from the "Fanatic's Guide to Sight Singing and Ear Training." Much of the material from the first few chapters of "Fanatic's Guide" is included in this book. This is because some students may be purchasing this book and not the "Fanatic's Guide." It's recommend that you first work with the "Fanatic's Guide" before using this book, although you can certainly work with both simulta-neously, to good effect. For some students working without the "Fanatic's Guide" may be fine but "Contextual Ear Training" assumes you have a fair degree of proficiency with the "One Note" exercise in "Fanatic's Guide." So to reiterate, if you find this book and associated CD too hard it would be suggest that first work with the "Fanatic's Guide." Although the "One Note" exercise is just the first exercise in "Fanatic's Guide" it's really the key to the whole methodology. Many students can easily sing through all exercises in the Fanatic's Guide once they have mastered the "One Note" exercise. However, It would still recommend getting the "Fanatic's Guide" because cases have be seen where a person has mastered the "One Note" technique but still has problems with the other "Fanatic's Guide" exercises, so it's prudent to make sure you are not one of those people. If you are new to this Ear Training Series its also recommend that you work with "Ear Training One Note Complete" book as a companion to this method. The "One Note" exercise is an extremely good exercise and thefour CDs that are available separately from this book really help a student to focus in on this technique in a structured way. Contextual Ear Training includes a music theory section and FAQ sec

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Or does it? Okay, let me explain. I broke into my crush’s dressing room to sniff his tights (not in a pervy way, I swear!) and got busted while, um... you get the idea. He then kind of, sort of blackmailed me into agreeing to a fake green card marriage with him. But hey, I’m not complaining. Next thing I know, we’re on a flight to Vegas to make our friends and family think we had a crazy drunken night and, in the spur of the moment, tied the knot. Except… that’s exactly what happens. (Thanks a lot, vodka.) Considering that he’s the most desirable ballet dancer in New York City and I’m a garage-dwelling secret blogger with a major sweet tooth, there’s no way this marriage could ever become real. Not to mention my totally crazy family and my aversion to every smell under the sun—except his. All I can hope for is to not fall in love with my husband. That shouldn’t be too hard, right?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Notes for Violists: A Guide to the Repertoire offers historical and analytical information about thirty-five of the best-known pieces for the instrument, making it an essential resource for professional, amateur, and student violists alike. With engaging prose supported by fact-filled analytical charts, the book offers rich biographical information and insightful analyses that help violists gain a more complete understanding of pieces like Béla Bartók's Concerto for Viola and Orchestra, Rebecca Clarke's Sonata for Viola and Piano, Robert Schumann's Märchenbilder for Viola and Piano, op. 113, Carl Stamitz's Concerto for Viola and Orchestra in D Major, Igor Stravinsky's Élégie for Viola or Violin Unaccompanied, and thirty other masterpieces. This comprehensive guide to key pieces from the viola repertoire from the eighteenth through the twentieth century covers concertos, chamber pieces, and works for solo viola by a wide range of composers, including Bach, Telemann, Mozart, Hoffmeister, Walton, and Hindemith. Author David M. Bynog not only offers clear structural analyses of these compositions but also situates them in their historical contexts as he highlights crucial biographical information on composers and explores the circumstances of the development and performance of each work. By connecting performance studies with scholarship, this indispensable handbook for students and professionals allows readers to gain a more complete picture of each work and encourages them to approach other compositions in a similarly analytical manner.
