A descendant, George Francis Seward (1877-1961) married Ada Leona Rugh in 1904. They were the parents of George Chester Seward (b.1910). He married Carroll Frances McKay in 1936. They were the parents of four children. Several generations of ancestors and descendants are given. Family members lived in Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, New York and elsewhere.

Seward was secretary, and journals kept by Frederick and Anna Seward while accompanying Seward on his trip to the West Indies in 1866 to develop the possible purchase of the Danish Virgin Islands. In box 4 are letters, telegrams, notes, and memoranda from Abraham Lincoln to William Henry Seward. Here also are letters to Seward from Mary Todd Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant and others. Box 5 contains documents signed by Lincoln and Seward.
