Book Seven Hundred Years to Bethlehem

Download or read book Seven Hundred Years to Bethlehem written by Charles J. Caes and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2008-09-23 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seven Hundred Years to Bethlehem: The Story of the Magi and the Birth of Jesus of Nazareth In his Gospel, Matthew briefly mentions wise men from the east who followed a celestial ray of light to Bethlehem. They were Magi. As in the case of all biblical passages, a little investigation into this one opens brand-new windows of insight into the past, and historians and other scholars regularly climb through these windows to verify truths and uncover new mysteries. They study, analyze, and speculate not only on the significance of scriptural words and syntax but also on the stories that lie hidden between the lines. In his new book, Seven Hundred Years to Bethlehem, Charles J. Caes follows after them to bring together the story of the Magi and their search for a promised savior. Part 1 draws on lay and biblical stories to present a tribal history of the Magi. It covers the seven hundred years from the time ancient wise men arrive on the Iranian plateau until their descendents spot a strange light in the sky and follow it to a stable-cave in Bethlehem. Part 2 draws from canonical and other sources to tell of events surrounding and including the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, the Magis arrival in Bethlehem to find the Holy Family, and the special courage of the Magi. A final chapter summarizes the life of Jesus and draws from non-canonical texts and other sources to speculate on what may have become of Mary, Joseph, and the Magi.

Book A Commentary on THE MINOR PROPHETS

Download or read book A Commentary on THE MINOR PROPHETS written by David Pawson and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2001-11-19 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David Pawson looks at the messages of these so-called “minor prophets” and says: I do not like that term. To God all prophets are important, whether they speak a little or a lot. Even if God only gave you three words for somebody else, that is prophecy. You don’t need to do it at length for fifty years as some prophets did. There are some prophets in the Old Testament who only speak once, and then, as far as we know, they disappear; but they have given a message from God. This is all a prophet is: someone who has heard a message and passes it on to the right people. It is such a simple ministry. You don’t need to be theologically educated; you don’t need to be a public speaker. In fact, God seems to entrust this ministry to those who don’t have a gift of oratory. It is exciting to hear ordinary folk, who would never be able to get up into a pulpit and preach a sermon, hear from God and pass on a word from him.

People want to believe they know what is best for themselves and for others. So, how would you become wise? If you could be guaranteed that you could possess wisdom, would you do what it takes? What if gaining wisdom is easier than you think to obtain? The Bible is full of examples of those that were wise and had wisdom. In fact, most of those mentioned with having wisdom and being wise were the same individuals that spoke to God and prophesied about a Messiah. Those that seek Jesus can ask for and are given wisdom from God. It is that simple. But beyond having wisdom, you can find your purpose, leave a legacy that matters, and have an eternal destiny in Heaven. It’s a win, win, win!!!

Book When God Calls You from Your Comfort Zone

Download or read book When God Calls You from Your Comfort Zone written by Carl Hays and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-05-24 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When God Calls You from Your Comfort Zone is an inspirational book written by Carl Hays, who grew up in Mississippi during the turbulent civil rights years. Carl Hays’s father was deeply involved in human rights and civil rights campaigns of the ’60s. The book explains how a father during those turbulent years inspired and influenced his family to overcome insurmountable odds to succeed. The book opens by explaining how God created everything and each person in uniqueness, on purpose, and for a purpose. In order for each person to understand his uniqueness and purpose for being created and to be used by God, he must first learn how to communicate with God. The author goes on to explain how God will always provide a boat for Noah. God called Jonah and provided a fish. God called Abraham and provided a ram for him. God called David and provided a stone for him. God called Moses and provided a rod for him. Each person God calls must be able to understand, recognize God’s call, and be willing to step outside their comfort zone with the confidence God will provide. The author appeals to his readers to examine the times we are living in and all the prophetic signs that are appearing everywhere, to learn to communicate with God to determine their purpose and be willing to step outside their comfort zone knowing God will always provide whatever is necessary to carry out his purpose. God has a ram for you.
