Book Lordship Vs Discipleship

Download or read book Lordship Vs Discipleship written by Dr. James W. Huntley and published by Author House. This book was released on 2013-08-19 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has been designed to culminate a study on our position with God as disciples. We have not been chosen to assume the position as Lords. We must not usurp the position as a Lord. We have not been chosen to be served but to serve; therefore, this book will explain, in detail, our callings and limitations as it refers to our position and anointing. This book does not indicate how anointed you are. It only references that your anointing cannot be any greater than God has chosen to give unto you. This book will list in detail that authority has to be given and not taken. Therefore, as our Master and King God alone grants us the power and authority as he chooses to disseminate amid the Body of Christ. This book has been designed to explain that we are not Lords but disciples. A disciple is a follower and student of a mentor, teacher, or other figure. The higher our calling, the greater our servitude should be. Additionally, we are considered as Servant Leaders. Servant leadership is both a leadership philosophy and set of leadership practices. Traditional leadership generally involves the accumulation and exercise of power by one at the top of the pyramid. By comparison, the servant-leader shares power but most importantly puts the needs of others first and helps people develop and perform as highly as possible. Therefore, I have attempted to reference in detail our positions and appointments and what the scripture indicates in reference to our responsibilities with that calling and position. Although we are powerful and full of an anointing by God, we must understand that whatever God has given we should utilize it to complete the work of God and not our personal agendas. Furthermore, it is not our will that should be implemented but that of God and him alone. When we understand our position with God, we can perform our duties with greater convictions and at a higher level.

Book Leadership or Servanthood

Download or read book Leadership or Servanthood written by Hwa Yung and published by Langham Global Library. This book was released on 2021-10-06 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world is obsessed with leaders: identifying them, training them, becoming them. Even in the church, this preoccupation is all-too apparent. Jesus, however, is not interested in developing leaders. Rather, he is interested in the formation of servants. In this powerful reflection on leadership and servanthood, Dr. Hwa Yung addresses the overemphasis on leadership development within the church. Challenging a culture of hubris, ambition, and self-seeking, he reminds us that ministry is not a call to position and power but to service and obedience. He draws us back to the example of Christ, who came as a servant of God and of his kingdom, who lived in submission to the Father, and who rooted himself in his identity as the incarnate Son of God. Linking spiritual authority to these three characteristics, Hwa Yung offers examples from both Scripture and church history to demonstrate that it is in fact the faithful practice of servanthood that leads to leadership impact.

Download or read book Servants of the Servant written by Don N. Howell and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2003-11-14 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leadership is a subject that has gained impressive visibility in the past two decades. The number of books, monographs and articles, as well as seminars, devoted to the development of one's leadership skills has been almost exponential growth. This study is an attempt to forge a full-orbed theology of Christian leadership grounded in the teaching of Scripture. What emerges from tracing the theme of leadership through the biblical record is a servanthood pattern, one that is wholly distinct from prevailing secular models. Our exposition begins with the biblical language of the servant, the term of choice for those great leaders used of God to further his saving purposes in the world. Eleven Old Testament and five New Testament leaders are profiled. The portrait of Jesus Christ focuses on three motifs that governed his training of the twelve for kingdom ministry. The Pauline letters are mined for those convictions that governed Paul's practice of leadership, both of his mission team and of the faith communities that emerged from that mission. The treatment of each leader, from Joseph to Paul, begins with a series of preliminary questions and concludes with a mini-profile that correlates the biblical data with these questions. The final chapter offers a summary profile of the servant leader, one whose character, motives and agenda align with the divine purposes. Though designed as a textbook for upper level college and seminary courses on leadership, the book's readable format is ideal for churches and parachurch organizations in their leadership training programs. The author's prayer is that this work will serve as a catalyst to call God's people back to Scripture and thereby raise up a whole new generation of authentic servant-leaders.

Book The Lordship of Christ

    Book Details:
  • Author : Mark D. Michael
  • Publisher : Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
  • Release : 2023-06-19
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 131 pages

Download or read book The Lordship of Christ written by Mark D. Michael and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-06-19 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You often hear Christians use the expression "Jesus is Lord." It is quite a common expression among believers. But the modern man is so displaced from lordship that such statements have very little meaning to us. When Apostle Paul instructed believers on salvation, he urged them to "Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead" (Romans 10:9). This scripture informs us that salvation is predicated upon Jesus becoming your Lord! Lordship is not a meaningless word. Lordship has great significance and represents a new reality for the born-again believer. Speaking specifically about the matter of his lordship, Jesus said, "Why do you call me Lord, Lord and do not the things I say?" (Luke 6:46) The evidence of walking under lordship are submission and obedience. In this book, Mark Michael instructs us on how to walk under lordship. The lessons will help you define and appreciate the authority of Christ.

Book excerpt: A COVER-UP OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS... Centuries ago, English translators perpetrated a fraud in the New Testament, and it’s been purposely hidden and covered up ever since. Your own Bible is probably included in the cover-up! In this book, which includes a study guide for personal or group use, John MacArthur unveils the essential and clarifying revelation that may be keeping you from a fulfilling—and correct—relationship with God. It’s powerful. It’s controversial. And with new eyes you’ll see the riches of your salvation in a radically new way. What does it mean to be a Christian the way Jesus defined it? MacArthur says it all boils down to one word: SLAVE “We have been bought with a price. We belong to Christ. We are His own possession.” Endorsements: "Dr. John MacArthur is never afraid to tell the truth and in this book he does just that. The Christian's great privilege is to be the slave of Christ. Dr. MacArthur makes it clear that this is one of the Bible's most succinct ways of describing our discipleship. This is a powerful exposition of Scripture, a convincing corrective to shallow Christianity, a masterful work of pastoral encouragement...a devotional classic." - Dr. R. Albert Mohler, President, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary "John MacArthur expertly and lucidly explains that Jesus frees us from bondage into a royal slavery that we might be His possession. Those who would be His children must, paradoxically, be willing to be His slaves." - Dr. R.C. Sproul "Dr. John MacArthur's teaching on 'slavery' resonates in the deepest recesses of my 'inner-man.' As an African-American pastor, I have been there. That is why the thought of someone writing about slavery as being a 'God-send' was the most ludicrous, unconscionable thing that I could have ever imagined...until I read this book. Now I see that becoming a slave is a biblical command, completely redefining the idea of freedom in Christ. I don't want to simply be a 'follower' or even just a 'servant'...but a 'slave'." - The Rev. Dr. Dallas H. Wilson, Jr., Vicar, St. John's Episcopal Chapel, Charleston, SC

Book Being a Servant for the Kingdom of God

Download or read book Being a Servant for the Kingdom of God written by Sean Begle and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-11 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Christians we are called to serve, we are called to be servants of the Kingdom of God, and servants for the Kingdom of God. This is our job and our responsibility, this is our Christian Calling. We must do what God has called us to do, and be who God has called us to be. We need to reach the unreached, we need to tell people who God really and truly is, what God really and truly can do in their life, and what Jesus did for them on the cross. We should want people to get saved, we should want people to be changed, we should want people to make a difference in their life. In being a Christian we must walk the walk, talk the talk and live the life, that way people can see God in us, see Jesus in us, that they will want to make a turn- around and turn to Jesus Christ.

Book excerpt: Although servanthood is often discussed as an important part of leadership, it is also the basic calling of every follower of Jesus Christ. Siang-Yang Tan takes a fresh approach to servanthood, exploring it as loving obedience to God in and of itself, regardless of personal greatness, fulfillment, or success. He lays out the biblical case and practical guidance to help all Christians live out their foundational call of being a servant of God in all areas of life. Tan's focus on servanthood alone--in contrast to the many books on servant-leadership--will appeal to pastors, church leaders, and all Christians interested in a biblical perspective on servanthood.

Download or read book Servantship written by Graham Joseph Hill and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2013-10-10 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Servantship is essentially about following our Lord Jesus Christ, the servant Lord, and his mission--it is a life of discipleship to him, patterned after his self-emptying, humility, sacrifice, love, values, and mission. Servantship is humbly valuing others more than yourself, and looking out for the interests and wellbeing of others. Servantship is the cultivation of the same attitude of mind Christ Jesus had: making yourself nothing, being a servant, humbling yourself, and submitting yourself to the will and purposes of the triune God. Since servantship is the imitation of Christ, it involves an unreserved participation in the missio Dei--the Trinitarian mission of God. In this pioneering work, sixteen servants describe the four movements of radical servantship. Servantship is the movement 1.from leadership to radical servantship; 2.from shallowness to dynamic theological reflection; 3.from theories to courageous practices; and 4.from forgetfulness to transforming memory. Servantship recognizes, in word, thought, and deed, that "whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave--just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book Servant Ministry written by Tony Horsfall and published by Brf. This book was released on 2019 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Servanthood is something to which all believers are called, not just those in full-time ministry. This means that understanding what servanthood means is vital for the health and well-being of local churches. Every member needs to appreciate their role as a servant of God. At the same time, the principles of servant leadership provide an essential framework for those called specifically to the work of the church, whether at home or overseas. Servant Ministry offers a practical exposition of the first 'Servant Song' in Isaiah (42:1-9). Writing from many years of Christian teaching and mentoring, Tony Horsfall applies insights drawn from the Isaiah passage to topics such as the motivation for service and the call to serve; valid expressions of servanthood and the link between evangelism and social action; character formation and what it means to be a servant; how to keep going over the long haul in the harsh realities of ministry; the importance of listening to God on a daily basis and also over a whole lifetime.
