Book Problems and Solutions in Biological Sequence Analysis

Download or read book Problems and Solutions in Biological Sequence Analysis written by Mark Borodovsky and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2006-09-04 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first of its kind to provide a large collection of bioinformatics problems with accompanying solutions. Notably, the problem set includes all of the problems offered in Biological Sequence Analysis, by Durbin et al. (Cambridge, 1998), widely adopted as a required text for bioinformatics courses at leading universities worldwide. Although many of the problems included in Biological Sequence Analysis as exercises for its readers have been repeatedly used for homework and tests, no detailed solutions for the problems were available. Bioinformatics instructors had therefore frequently expressed a need for fully worked solutions and a larger set of problems for use on courses. This book provides just that: following the same structure as Biological Sequence Analysis and significantly extending the set of workable problems, it will facilitate a better understanding of the contents of the chapters in BSA and will help its readers develop problem-solving skills that are vitally important for conducting successful research in the growing field of bioinformatics. All of the material has been class-tested by the authors at Georgia Tech, where the first ever MSc degree program in Bioinformatics was held.

Book The Language of Turn and Sequence

Download or read book The Language of Turn and Sequence written by Cecilia E. Ford and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2002 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of previously unpublished, cutting-edge research discusses the conversation analysis (CA) approach to understanding language use. CA is the dominant theory for analyzing the social use of language and is concerned with the description of how speakers engage in conversation and other forms of social interaction involving language. Its proponents are not only linguists but sociologists and anthropologists as well. The unifying theme of these chapters is the intersection of practice and form through the construction of turns and sequences.

Book Sequence Stratigraphy on the Northwest European Margin

Download or read book Sequence Stratigraphy on the Northwest European Margin written by Norsk petroleumsforening. Conference and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995 with total page 589 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hardbound. Sequence Stratigraphy, presently one of the most rapidly growing areas in geology, is concerned with the documentation and prediction of how sandstones (potential hydrocarbon reservoirs) and shales (potential source rocks) are distributed in time and space within sedimentary basins. The book takes a critical look at some of the sequence stratigraphy concepts, and provides an account of how these have been applied recently in NW Europe (North Sea, mid Norway and E. Greenland, Barents Sea and Svalbard), mainly in connection with the exploration for oil and gas. There is currently no similar book available.

  • Pages : 40 pages

Download or read book The Fibonacci Sequence written by IntroBooks and published by Can Akdeniz. This book was released on 2019-01-16 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fibonacci sequence is a great way by which the different patterns can be noticed and understood. The Fibonacci sequence is used by a number of mathematicians, philosophers, architects, etc. The Fibonacci sequence was also used for the creation of some great buildings. The Fibonacci sequence is an amazing technique and probably the only one technique, which is present in a number of domains such as mathematics, art, architecture, etc. The Golden Ratio is directly related to nature, which makes it even more interesting and easy going. It has not only appeared in the man-made things but it is also involved in a number of natural things. This came as a surprise to everyone, who is involved in the development of the mankind, educational and academic regions. The Fibonacci sequence is an ancient technique which is still famous and used in a variety of forms. The spiral of the Fibonacci, the sequence and the numbers play a great role in the studies of different arenas.

Book Methods in Protein Sequence Analysis 1986

Download or read book Methods in Protein Sequence Analysis 1986 written by Kenneth A. Walsh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1987-06-17 with total page 654 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methods in Protein Sequence Analysis -1986 brings together reports of the most recent methodology available to protein chemists for studying the molecular detail of proteins. The papers in this volume constitute the proceedings of the Sixth International Conference on Methods in Protein Sequence Analysis, which was held at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington on August 17-21, 1986. This series of conferences has taken place during a period when new techniques in protein chemistry and molecular biology have enabled not only exploration of the control of protein function, but also deduction of the genetic origin of proteins, and labo ratory generation of rare protein molecules for therapeu tic and commercial use. The current reports are focused on the means by which experimental questions can be answered rather than on the biological implications in specific systems. The scope of the meeting was quite broad, empha sizing microanalytical techniques and the relative merits of DNA sequencing, mass spectrometry and more tradi tional degradation techniques. A highlight of the meeting was the Qrowing awareness of the role of mass spec trometry In the analysis of proteins. The complementarity of protein sequencing and DNA sequencing techniques was apparent throughout the discussions and several papers dealt with the strategy of obtaining sequence in formation from small amounts of protein in order that ap propriate oligonucleotide probes could be constructed and the encoding nucleic acids se. quenced and manipu lated.

Book BIG DATA ANALYTICS IN COMPUTATIONAL GENOME SEQUENCE ANALYSIS

Download or read book BIG DATA ANALYTICS IN COMPUTATIONAL GENOME SEQUENCE ANALYSIS written by Dr. F. Amul Mary & Dr. S. Jyothi and published by Ashok Yakkaldevi. This book was released on 2022-01-18 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The genomes in human body programs the blueprint of one’s life but the functions of those genomes nearly three billion genome bases are not known. The genome sequence in human being gives the fundamental rules for human biology. Science makes every effort to reveal the laws of nature and critical understanding of the biology. Scientists in the life-science field are seeking genetic variants associated with multifaceted set of observable characteristics to advance our understanding about genetics. Technological advancements are assisting the scientists to quickly create, store and analyze the data as fast as possible and as efficient as possible. The NCBI and other organizations maintain genome sequences, proteins, RNA, DNA and other information of all species as well as their behavioral data. There is a lot and lot of data. Translating these data into useful insights which can be used for research and innovation is a main concern.

Book Motion Analysis and Image Sequence Processing

Download or read book Motion Analysis and Image Sequence Processing written by M. Ibrahim Sezan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 499 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An image or video sequence is a series of two-dimensional (2-D) images sequen tially ordered in time. Image sequences can be acquired, for instance, by video, motion picture, X-ray, or acoustic cameras, or they can be synthetically gen erated by sequentially ordering 2-D still images as in computer graphics and animation. The use of image sequences in areas such as entertainment, visual communications, multimedia, education, medicine, surveillance, remote control, and scientific research is constantly growing as the use of television and video systems are becoming more and more common. The boosted interest in digital video for both consumer and professional products, along with the availability of fast processors and memory at reasonable costs, has been a major driving force behind this growth. Before we elaborate on the two major terms that appear in the title of this book, namely motion analysis and image sequence processing, we like to place them in their proper contexts within the range of possible operations that involve image sequences. In this book, we choose to classify these operations into three major categories, namely (i) image sequence processing, (ii) image sequence analysis, and (iii) visualization. The interrelationship among these three categories is pictorially described in Figure 1 below in the form of an "image sequence triangle".
