Book Frontiers in Supramolecular Organic Chemistry and Photochemistry

Download or read book Frontiers in Supramolecular Organic Chemistry and Photochemistry written by Hans-Jörg Schneider and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the introductory chapter: ep Supramolecular chemistry is chemistry beyond the molecule, the designed chemistry of the intermolecular bond. It is a novel, highly interdisciplinary field of science covering the chemical, physical and biological features of chemical species held together and organized by means of intermolecular binding interactions. The common thread of all areas of supramolecular chemistry is the information stored in the structural features of molecules and of supermolecules. Thus, it is a kind of molecular information science that is progressively shaping up. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Download or read book Advances in Supramolecular Chemistry written by G.W. Gokel and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-02-01 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a variety of articles that encompass the broad scope of supramolecular chemistry. Reusch's chapter covers biological channel compounds, while the work of Hall and Kirkovits looks into their synthetic counterparts. Metal ion sensors, calixarenes and "crystal engineering" are described by pioneers in these fields. Book Fundamentals and Applications of Anion Separations

Download or read book Fundamentals and Applications of Anion Separations written by Bruce A. Moyer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-06-17 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book documents the proceedings of the symposium "Fundamentals and Applications of Anion Separations" held during American Chemical Society National Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, August 25-30, 200I. Nearly 40 papers devoted to discussions on anion separation related to fundamental research and applications were presented. The symposium, sponsored by Osram Sylvania, BetzDearbom, and the Separation Science & Technology Subdivision of the Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Division of the American Chemical Society was organized by Bruce A. Moyer, Chemical Sciences Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, P.O. Box 2008, Building. 4500S, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-6119, and Raj P. Singh, Chemicals and Powders R&D, Osram Sylvania, Chemical and Metallurgical Products Division, Towanda, PA 18848. It drew presenters from Australia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Separations constitute an integral part of chemical industry. Chemical products typically originate in resources that must be concentrated and purified, chemically transformed, and subjected to fmal purification. Effluent streams from the processes must be treated to recycle reusable components and to remove environmentally harmful species. Some industrial processes are devoted to environmental cleanup after pollution has occurred. In addition, many analytical methods require a separation for preconcentration, or a separation may be an inherent part of the analysis itself. Micro separations occurring at membranes or interfaces are also related phenomena employed for ion sensing. Many species targeted for separation are naturally anionic. Although the standard separations techniques ofextraction, ion exchange, adsorption, precipitation, etc.

Book Comprehensive Supramolecular Chemistry

Download or read book Comprehensive Supramolecular Chemistry written by D.N. Reinhoudt and published by Pergamon. This book was released on 1999-04-02 with total page 965 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this last volume of the set, a state-of-the-art overview of (future) supramolecular technology and its current applications is given, but without attempting to cover all possible emerging new technologies. In the first part of this volume (Chapters 1-6) separation technologies based on selective molecular recognition are dealt with. The transduction of a chemical recognition phenomenon into a measurable signal is discussed in Chapters 7-10. The next section covers the area of supramolecular reactivity. The design of molecules that will fit the transition state of a chemical reaction is one of the major challenges in supramolecular chemistry. This stabilization leads to catalysis. Related to this topic are the contents of Chapters 12-14 where the activation of reactive anions by complexation of the cation, phase-transfer catalysis, and the storage of reagents are reviewed. Medical applications such as drug delivery from, or imaging and targeting by, supramolecular systems are described in Chapters 16 and 17. The last part of this volume covers different material properties ranging from inclusion polymerization to nonlinear optical materials.

This book was released on 2020-03-23 with total page 606 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is indexed in Chemical Abstracts Service'The present book displays the continuing broad interest in the area of Supramolecular Catalysis. It provides an excellent update to previous contributions in the field and will be highly beneficial reading for all students and researchers interested in the challenges faced in this domain of Supramolecular Chemistry.'Jean-Marie LehnNobel Laureate The construction of catalysts by supramolecular forces has recently become a powerful tool and the role of noncovalent interactions can assist in designing new tools for the construction of effective and selective catalytic systems. It is unquestionably, vastly important to understand how different noncovalent interactions can be controlled or manipulated under appropriate reaction conditions. Supramolecular catalysts have had a tremendous impact on the syntheses of both chemical commodities and fine chemicals over the last 50 years, leading to the discovery of new reactions that were previously deemed impossible. This means that supramolecular chemistry plays a predominant role in accelerating or understanding chemical reactions. This book which addresses the above points is written by some of the leading contributors in this field and is intended for graduate students, researchers and academics working in supramolecular chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and physical chemistry as well as researchers with an interest in the area of catalysis. The authors give examples illustrating the growth of the field, especially with special emphasis on new results published over the last decade. They also provide an explanation of fundamentals and topical research.
