Book Sensors for Ultrasonic NDT in Harsh Environments

Download or read book Sensors for Ultrasonic NDT in Harsh Environments written by Anthony N Sinclair and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-05-13 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this Special Issue of Sensors, seven peer-reviewed manuscripts appear on the topic of ultrasonic transducer design and operation in harsh environments: elevated temperature, high gamma and neutron radiation fields, or the presence of aggressive chemicals. Motivations for these research and development projects are strongly focused on nuclear power plant inspections (particularly liquid-sodium cooled reactors), and nondestructive testing of high-temperature piping installations. It is anticipated that extensive use of permanently mounted robust transducers for in-service monitoring of petrochemical plants and power generations stations; quality control in manufacturing plants; and primary and secondary process monitoring in the fabrication of engineering materials will soon be made.

Book Ultrasonic and Advanced Methods for Nondestructive Testing and Material Characterization

Download or read book Ultrasonic and Advanced Methods for Nondestructive Testing and Material Characterization written by Chi-hau Chen and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007 with total page 682 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ultrasonic methods have been very popular in nondestructive testing and characterization of materials. This book deals with both industrial ultrasound and medical ultrasound. The advantages of ultrasound include flexibility, low cost, in-line operation, and providing data in both signal and image formats for further analysis. The book devotes 11 chapters to ultrasonic methods. However, ultrasonic methods can be much less effective with some applications. So the book also has 14 chapters catering to other or advanced methods for nondestructive testing or material characterization. Topics like structural health monitoring, Terahertz methods, X-ray and thermography methods are presented. Besides different sensors for nondestructive testing, the book places much emphasis on signal/image processing and pattern recognition of the signals acquired.

Book Advanced Nondestructive Detection Technologies in Food

Download or read book Advanced Nondestructive Detection Technologies in Food written by Quansheng Chen and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-08-27 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comprehensively introduces non-destructive methods for food quality (i.e. external, internal, sensory, components, and microbiological indicators) detection, through optics, acoustics, chemistry, imaging, and bionic sensing. It highlights in-situ detection of food quality and safety, including principles, signal processing, and analysis of data, non-destructive detection system, and application in the food industry for each method. First, this book introduces the principles and characteristics of various food non-destructive methods. As non-destructive measurements always involve obtaining big data for each testing, this book also describes in detail the signal and big data processing for each non-destructive method. The chapters also introduce the rapid portable detection equipment for food and agricultural products developed in recent years, as well as the intelligent monitoring equipment in the process of food processing. Relevant application cases are provided to help readers better understanding how to apply non-destructive technology for food quality detection. In the noninvasive measurement of food quality, this book has a systematic introduction of the detection principle, data processing, and rapid detection system, in-field detection case studies. This book is novel and practical and can be used as a professional textbook for undergraduates majoring in food science and engineering. It can also be used as a reference book for scientific research and technical personnel engaged in the field of food quality and safety detection.

Book NDT Data Fusion

Download or read book NDT Data Fusion written by Xavier Gros and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1996-11-01 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data fusion is a rapidly developing technology which involves the combination of information supplied by several NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) sensors to provide a more complete and understandable picture of structural integrity. This text is the first to be devoted exclusively to the concept of multisensor integration and data fusion applied to NDT. The advantages of this methodology are widely acknowledged and the author presents an excellent introduction to data fusion processes. Problems are approached progressively through detailed case studies, offering practical guidance for those wishing to develop and explore NDT data fusion further. This book will prove invaluable to inspectors, students and researchers concerned with NDT signal processing measurements and testing. It shows the great value and major benefits which can be achieved by implementing multisensor data fusion, not only in NDT but also in any discipline where measurements and testing are key activities.

Book Microwave Non Destructive Testing and Evaluation Principles

Download or read book Microwave Non Destructive Testing and Evaluation Principles written by R. Zoughi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2000-02-29 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a thorough and coherent understanding of the fundamentals of microwave non-destructive evaluation principles. This is achieved by starting with the basic understanding of subjects such as waves, material media, interaction of waves at high frequencies with material media, understanding the fundamentals of reflection, refraction, transmission and wave polarization. All these issues are addressed in a concise manner providing a much needed text on this subject. Each chapter has a set of problems and questions, with solutions and worked examples, thus making the book of great use to those teaching in this area. This book will also be invaluable to all those conducting research in microwave NDE, whether based in an industrial or academic environment.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Non-destructive testing (NDT) is based on inspection methodologies that do not require the change or destruction of the component or system under evaluation. Numerous NDT techniques are increasingly used, thanks to the recent advances in sensing technologies, data acquisition, data storage and signal processing. Inspection information is widely employed in order to make effective maintenance decisions based on the defects identified, their location and severity. This book presents the main advances recently made on different NDT techniques, together with the principal approaches employed to process the signals obtained during inspection.
