La originalidad de esta monografía puede advertirse en su propia concepción porque aporta la indudable novedad de ofrecer un análisis unitario y global acerca del acceso a la entidad cooperativa. Bajo una adecuada estructura, el texto principal explica con claridad y precisión la historia —en su capítulo primero— y el derecho vigente —en los capítulos sucesivos— a la luz de la normativa estatal, aunque sin olvidar, en notas marginales, el contraste, el complemento o el seguimiento que, con relación a la Ley del Estado español, aprecia la diversa normativa autonómica vigente en esta materia. La publicación es también novedosa en sus planteamientos porque el análisis de la adquisición del status de socio no se ajusta a una labor meramente descriptiva, sino que aporta reflexiones sutiles y útiles en torno a la interpretación de las normas cooperativas; e incluso, en determinados ámbitos, el autor sugiere propuestas de mejoras legislativas tendentes a consagrar una «letra legal» más depurada y atinada. La innegable valía de la investigación que el lector tiene en sus manos ha sido recientemente considerada, en el ámbito de la Comunidad Autónoma de Andalucía, por un jurado de indudable reconocimiento por su vinculación a este sector cooperativo, que tuvo a bien galardonar a su autor con el «Premio Arco Iris del Cooperativismo», en su vigésimo segunda edición, a la mejor investigación cooperativa. No cabe duda que se trata de una obra destinada a tres sectores de la población bien diferenciados. Por una parte, el de los que dedican esfuerzos, estudios e investigaciones a la materia cooperativa, porque, para ellos, debe ser una obra de referencia. Por otra, el de las entidades cooperativas en general, y las de trabajo asociado en particular, porque en este texto pueden advertir con nitidez los elementos de juicio, las consideraciones y las sugerencias que deben tomar en cuenta ante una eventual solicitud de ingreso en la cooperativa. Y, al fin, el de toda persona que aprecie la conveniencia de satisfacer su necesidad de trabajo o de empleo a través del cauce cooperativo. In doing so, they generated considerable innovation, which reinforced the integration of the research and outreach functions of the university. The evidence suggests that universities are indeed open systems, in interaction with their environment, able to discover changes that can influence them and to change in response to those changes. They are also able, in the success of their efforts to mitigate the educational impact of the pandemic, to create better futures, as the result of the innovations they can generate. This challenges the view of universities as "ivory towers" being isolated from the surrounding environment and detached from local problems. As they reached out to schools, universities not only generated clear and valuable innovations to sustain educational opportunity and to improve it, this process also contributed to transform internal university processes in ways that enhanced their own ability to deliver on the third mission of outreach
