Book excerpt: The Handbook of News Analytics in Finance is a landmarkpublication bringing together the latest models and applications ofNews Analytics for asset pricing, portfolio construction, tradingand risk control. The content of the Hand Book is organised to provide arapid yet comprehensive understanding of this topic. Chapter 1 setsout an overview of News Analytics (NA) with an explanation of thetechnology and applications. The rest of the chapters are presentedin four parts. Part 1 contains an explanation of methods and modelswhich are used to measure and quantify news sentiment. In Part 2the relationship between news events and discovery of abnormalreturns (the elusive alpha) is discussed in detail by the leadingresearchers and industry experts. The material in this part alsocovers potential application of NA to trading and fund management.Part 3 covers the use of quantified news for the purpose ofmonitoring, early diagnostics and risk control. Part 4 is entirelyindustry focused; it contains insights of experts from leadingtechnology (content) vendors. It also contains a discussion oftechnologies and finally a compact directory of content vendor andfinancial analytics companies in the marketplace of NA. Thebook draws equally upon the expertise of academics andpractitioners who have developed these models and is supported bytwo major content vendors - RavenPack and Thomson Reuters - leadingproviders of news analytics software and machine readablenews. The book will appeal to decision makers in the banking, finance andinsurance services industry. In particular: asset managers;quantitative fund managers; hedge fund managers; algorithmictraders; proprietary (program) trading desks; sell-side firms;brokerage houses; risk managers and research departments willbenefit from the unique insights into this new and pertinent areaof financial modelling.

Book excerpt: Claims that "During World War II and the decades that followed, Kinsey and his Indiana cohorts sabotaged our nation by entering our libraries and schools as 'sex educators' -- ridiculing marriage, fidelity, and chastity. They preached widespread sexual experimentation, succeeded in nationwide fraud campaigns, and gutted the tough laws that kept pornography and predators at bay.' The author suggests countermeasures.

Book Hybrid Systems in Foil

Download or read book Hybrid Systems in Foil written by Mourad Elsobky and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-10-14 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hybrid Systems-in-Foil (HySiF) is a concept that extends the potential of conventional More-than-More Systems-in/on-Package (SiPs and SoPs) to the flexible electronics world. In HySiF, an economical implementation of flexible electronic systems is possible by integrating a minimum number of embedded silicon chips and a maximum number of on-foil components. Here, the complementary characteristics of CMOS SoCs and larger area organic and printed electronics are combined in a HySiF-compatible polymeric substrate. Within the HySiF scope, the fabrication process steps and the integration design rules with all the accompanying boundary conditions concerning material compatibility, surface properties, and thermal budget, are defined. This Element serves as an introduction to the HySiF concept. A summary of recent ultra-thin chip fabrication and flexible packaging techniques is provided. Several bendable electronic components are presented demonstrating the benefits of HySiF. Finally, prototypes of flexible wireless sensor systems that adopt the HySiF concept are demonstrated.

Book Networks on Chip

    Book Details:
  • Author : Axel Jantsch
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2007-05-08
  • ISBN : 0306487276
  • Pages : 304 pages

Download or read book Networks on Chip written by Axel Jantsch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-05-08 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the number of processor cores and IP blocks integrated on a single chip is steadily growing, a systematic approach to design the communication infrastructure becomes necessary. Different variants of packed switched on-chip networks have been proposed by several groups during the past two years. This book summarizes the state of the art of these efforts and discusses the major issues from the physical integration to architecture to operating systems and application interfaces. It also provides a guideline and vision about the direction this field is moving to. Moreover, the book outlines the consequences of adopting design platforms based on packet switched network. The consequences may in fact be far reaching because many of the topics of distributed systems, distributed real-time systems, fault tolerant systems, parallel computer architecture, parallel programming as well as traditional system-on-chip issues will appear relevant but within the constraints of a single chip VLSI implementation.

Book Algebraic Methodology and Software Technology

Download or read book Algebraic Methodology and Software Technology written by Teodor Rus and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-03-12 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The AMAST movement was initiated in 1989 with the First International C- ference on Algebraic Methodology and Software Technology (AMAST), held on May 21{23in Iowa City, Iowa, and aimed at setting the development of software technology on a mathematical basis. The virtue of the software technology en- sioned by AMAST is the capability to produce software that has the following properties: (a) it is correct and its correctness can be proved mathematically, (b) it is safe, such that it can be used in the implementation of critical systems, (c) it is portable, i. e. , it is independent of computing platforms and language generations, and (d) it is evolutionary, i. e. , it is self-adaptable and evolves with the problem domain. Ten years later a myriad of workshops, conferences, and researchprogramsthat sharethe goalsof the AMAST movementhaveoccurred. This can be taken as proof that the AMAST vision is right. However, often the myriad of workshops, conferences, and research programs lack the clear obj- tives and the coordination of their goals towards the software technology en- sioned by AMAST. This can be taken as a proof that AMAST is still necessary.
