Book Semiconducting Transition Metal Silicides New Materials for Optoelectronics on Silicon

Download or read book Semiconducting Transition Metal Silicides New Materials for Optoelectronics on Silicon written by John E. Mahan and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Semiconducting transition metal silicide thin films of FeSi2, MnSi1.7, CrSi2, ReSi2, and IrSi1.75, were prepared. The electronic band structures were probed with measurements of the optical properties as a function of photon energy, together with measurements of the electrical resistivity as a function of temperature. The iron and manganese silicides possess direct forbidden energy gaps of 0.89 and 0.68 eV, respectively. The chromium and rhenium silicides exhibited apparently indirect gaps of slightly less than 0.35 and 0.12 eV, respectively. The bandgap of IrSi1.75 is close to that of silicon and could not be determined with the techniques available to use in this research. Applications for the semiconducting silicides, in optoelectronic chip interconnects and infrared detection, are noted. Reprints. (jes).

Book Silicides Fundamentals Applications

Download or read book Silicides Fundamentals Applications written by Francois D'heurle and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000-12-18 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Silicides were introduced into the technology of electronic devices some thirty years ago; since then, they have been continuously used to form both ohmic and rectifying contacts to silicon. Silicides are also important for other applications (thermoelectric devices and structural applications, such as jet engines), but it is not easy to find an updated reference containing both their basic properties, either chemical or physical, and the latest applications. The 16th Course of the International School of Solid State Physics, held in Erice (Italy) in the late spring of 1999, was intended to break artificial barriers between disciplines, and to gather people concerned with the properties and applications of silicides, regardless of the formal fields to which they belong, or of the practical goals they pursue. This book is therefore concerned with theory as well as applications, metallurgy as well as physics, and materials science as well as microelectronics.

Book 2D Semiconducting Materials for Electronic Photonic and Optoelectronic Devices

Download or read book 2D Semiconducting Materials for Electronic Photonic and Optoelectronic Devices written by Anuj Kumar and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-11-07 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two-dimensional semiconducting materials (2D-SCMs) are the subject of intensive study in the fields of photonics and optoelectronics because of their unusual optical, electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties. The main objective of 2D Semiconducting Materials for Electronic, Photonic, and Optoelectronic Devices is to provide current, state-of-the-art knowledge of two-dimensional semiconducting materials for various applications. Two-dimensional semiconducting materials are the basic building blocks for making photodiodes, light-emitting diodes, light-detecting devices, data storage, telecommunications, and energy-storage devices. When it comes to two-dimensional semiconducting materials, electronic, photonic, and optoelectronic applications, as well as future plans for improving performance, no modern book covers as much ground. The planned book will fill such gaps by offering a comprehensive analysis of two-dimensional semiconducting materials. This book covers a range of advanced 2D materials, their fundamentals, and the chemistry for many emerging applications. All the chapters are covered by experts in these areas around the world, making this a suitable textbook for students and providing new guidelines to researchers and industries. • Covers topics such as fundamentals and advanced knowledge of two-dimensional semiconducting materials • Provides details about the recent methods used for the synthesis, characterization, and applications of two-dimensional semiconducting materials • Covers the state-of-the-art development in two-dimensional semiconducting materials and their emerging applications This book provides directions to students, scientists, and researchers in semiconductors and related disciplines to help them better understand the physics, characteristics, and applications of 2D semiconductors.

Book Transition Metal Defects in Silicon

Download or read book Transition Metal Defects in Silicon written by Michael Steger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-02-26 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fundamental properties of deep luminescence centres in Si associated with transition metals such as Cu, Ag, Au, and Pt have been a focus of interest for decades, both as markers for these deleterious contaminants, and also in the quest for efficient Si-based light emission. This dissertation presents the results of ultra-high resolution photoluminescence studies of these centres in specially prepared, highly enriched 28-Si samples. The greatly improved spectral resolution due to this enrichment led to the discovery of isotopic fingerprints. These fingerprints have revealed that the detailed constituents of all of the centres previously studied had been identified incorrectly. They also revealed the existence of several different families of impurity complexes containing either four or five atoms chosen from Li, Cu, Ag, Au, and Pt. These centres’ constituents have been determined, together with no-phonon transition energies, no-phonon isotope shifts, local vibrational mode energies, and the isotope shifts of the local vibrational mode energies. The data presented here for these centres should prove useful for the currently sought theoretical explanations of their formation, stability, and properties.
