Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book Of Remembrances [Kitab al-Adhkar] – By Imam Yahya ibn Sharaf an-Nawawi Kitab al-Adhkar is the definitive compilation of words of remembrance and glorification of (dhikr), and supplicatory prayer to (du’a), the Lord of the Universe, as related from His final Emissary, the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless and exalt him). Dhikr and du’a lie at the very heart of the din, the relationship between creature and Creator. As part of the Sunna or Prophetic Way, they are a divinely appointed means of approaching Allah Most High for all our needs, and of making use of all the moments of daily life to strengthen our tawhid, the existential and cognitive Unity that is the hallmark of Muslim spirituality. Also covered are the vital principles of speaking only what is good and avoiding the sins of the tongue. The author, Muhy al-Din Yahya ibn Sharaf al-Nawawi (631-676/123-1277) devoted his entire life to the pursuit of sacred knowledge. He is revered throughout the Sunni world as one of its greatest authorities. Among his most famous writings are the Arba’in, a collection of forty Hadiths; a commentary on the Sahih of Imam Muslim; and Kitab al-Adhkar. Designed as a reference guide and a source of inspiration, this volume presents a clear and elegant English translation of Imam al-Nawawis classic, together with the text of every single prayer and invocation, both in Arabic letters and in romanisation. Also included are all the authors statements about those Hadiths which he related personally from his own teachers, and his guidance on the correct spelling and meanings of rare words and names. Finally, al-Nawawi's comments on the sources of Hadiths are supplemented by further scholarly notes.

Book Applying Islamic Principles to Clinical Mental Health Care

Download or read book Applying Islamic Principles to Clinical Mental Health Care written by Hooman Keshavarzi and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-07-26 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text outlines for the first time a structured articulation of an emerging Islamic orientation to psychotherapy, a framework presented and known as Traditional Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy (TIIP). TIIP is an integrative model of mental health care that is grounded in the core principles of Islam while drawing upon empirical truths in psychology. The book introduces the basic foundations of TIIP, then delves into the writings of early Islamic scholars to provide a richer understanding of the Islamic intellectual heritage as it pertains to human psychology and mental health. Beyond theory, the book provides readers with practical interventional skills illustrated with case studies as well as techniques drawn inherently from the Islamic tradition. A methodology of case formulation is provided that allows for effective treatment planning and translation into therapeutic application. Throughout its chapters, the book situates TIIP within an Islamic epistemological and ontological framework, providing a discussion of the nature and composition of the human psyche, its drives, health, pathology, mechanisms of psychological change, and principles of healing. Mental health practitioners who treat Muslim patients, Muslim clinicians, students of the behavioral sciences and related disciplines, and anyone with an interest in spiritually oriented psychotherapies will greatly benefit from this illustrative and practical text.

The book presents cutting edge research addressing three inter-related themes: spaces and temporalities; displaced bodies and intersecting inequalities; voices, praxis and (self)representation. Drawing on and expanding critical leisure studies perspectives on class, gender, sexuality and race/ethnicity, the book spotlights leisure and how it can interrogate and challenge dominant narratives, practices and assumptions on forced migration and lives lived in asylum systems. Furthermore, it contributes to current debates on the scope, relevance and aims of leisure studies within the present, unfolding global scenario. This is an important resource for students and scholars across leisure, sport, gender, sociology, anthropology and migration studies. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Routledge Handbook of Tea Tourism provides comprehensive and cutting-edge insights into global tea tourism. With contributions from leading scholars and experts across 19 countries, it demonstrates the interdisciplinary nature and breadth of topics associated with global tea tourism. Tea is deeply connected to tourism through both travel and consumption. For host communities it provides an opportunity for diversification from the production and/or serving of tea while sharing cultural traditions and improving livelihoods. The Handbook is organised into five parts, with an introduction and epilogue, and the first part begins with an overview of historical and contemporary perspectives on the foundations of tea tourism. It digs into the roots of such tourism in China, the relationship of wild tea to indigenous tourism in Vietnam, heritage railways to tea tourism, and tea tourism in Africa. The second part examines sustainable tea tourism, with examples from Thailand, Turkey, Sri Lanka and India. The third part explores the management and marketing of tea tourism, highlighting tools and techniques for development and the impact of social media on the tea tourism experience. It draws on examples of tea tourism experience in diverse settings, such as the English tea room, a pearl milk tourism factory in Taiwan and a hot spring tea destination in Japan. The fourth part provides perspectives on innovation and practice in tea tourism, such as gastronomical tea tourism in Turkey, Japan and Thailand; tea cafés and community diversification in Japan; the role of GIAHS designation in tea tourism; and tea tour guiding in Iran. Finally, the fifth part provides insights on resilience in tea tourism, examining topics such as human-wildlife conflicts and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the sector in both Asia and Europe. This Handbook provides a valuable resource for students and researchers, presenting a rich collection of theoretical and empirical insights, an agenda for future directions in the field and end-of-chapter discussion questions. It also serves as a useful tool for key stakeholders, aiming to increase interaction between academia and industry, encouraging the development of sustainable responsible tea tourism that benefits local communities on a global basis.
