Book Computational Invariant Theory

Download or read book Computational Invariant Theory written by Harm Derksen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-23 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the computational aspects of invariant theory. Of central interest is the question how the invariant ring of a given group action can be calculated. Algorithms for this purpose form the main pillars around which the book is built. There are two introductory chapters, one on Gröbner basis methods and one on the basic concepts of invariant theory, which prepare the ground for the algorithms. Then algorithms for computing invariants of finite and reductive groups are discussed. Particular emphasis lies on interrelations between structural properties of invariant rings and computational methods. Finally, the book contains a chapter on applications of invariant theory, covering fields as disparate as graph theory, coding theory, dynamical systems, and computer vision. The book is intended for postgraduate students as well as researchers in geometry, computer algebra, and, of course, invariant theory. The text is enriched with numerous explicit examples which illustrate the theory and should be of more than passing interest. More than ten years after the first publication of the book, the second edition now provides a major update and covers many recent developments in the field. Among the roughly 100 added pages there are two appendices, authored by Vladimi r Popov, and an addendum by Norbert A'Campo and Vladimir Popov.

Book Code Based Secret Sharing Schemes Applied Combinatorial Coding Theory

Download or read book Code Based Secret Sharing Schemes Applied Combinatorial Coding Theory written by Patrick Sole and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2022-04-11 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Secret sharing schemes form one of the most important topic in Cryptography. These protocols are used in many areas, applied mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering. A secret is divided into several pieces called shares. Each share is given to a user of the system. Each user has no information about the secret, but the secret can be retrieved by certain authorized coalition of users. This book is devoted to such schemes inspired by Coding Theory. The classical schemes of Shamir, Blakley, Massey are recalled. Survey is made of research in Combinatorial Coding Theory they triggered, mostly self-dual codes, and minimal codes. Applications to engineering like image processing, and key management of MANETs are highlighted.

Book Z2Z4 Linear Codes

    Book Details:
  • Author : Joaquim Borges
  • Publisher : Springer Nature
  • Release : 2022-06-30
  • ISBN : 3031054415
  • Pages : 245 pages

Download or read book Z2Z4 Linear Codes written by Joaquim Borges and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-30 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory developed for Z2Z4-additive codes is the starting point for much generalization about codes over mixed alphabets. They have opened a new, emergent area of research. The techniques used for Z2Z4-linear codes are being generalized and applied to more general codes. By example, these codes have contributed to the classification of many nonlinear codes. Moreover, they can be considered as the starting point of many different generalizations given over mixed alphabets, thereby representing a useful area of research. Since 2010, more than 30 papers have been published about the codes considered in the book, which includes important classes of binary codes (1-perfect, Hadamard, etc.) that are not linear in general. For example, much recent research has shown the application of the techniques described for the family of cyclic Z2Z4-linear codes. Topics and Features: Examines everything from the basic definitions to very advanced results Provides numerous examples, succinctly and comprehensively gathering and using the relevant information Includes examples using commands from a new Magma package, developed mostly by the same authors Proposes algorithms, for instance to describe coding and decoding strategies This unique volume will be eminently suitable for researchers working on coding theory over rings, especially over mixed alphabets. Experts will find commands and algorithms that will be useful in the generalization to codes over mixed alphabets. Additionally, by outlining the basic theory of codes over mixed alphabets and providing numerous examples, the book will be useful to researchers wanting to be introduced to the topic. The authors are all affiliated with the Dept. of Information and Communications Engineering at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain. Joaquim Borges and Cristina Fernández-Córdoba are Associate Professors, Jaume Pujol is a now retired Associate Professor, Josep Rifà is Professor Emeritus, and Mercè Villanueva is Associate Professor.

Book Coding and Information Theory

Download or read book Coding and Information Theory written by Steven Roman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1992-06-04 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an introduction to information and coding theory at the graduate or advanced undergraduate level. It assumes a basic knowledge of probability and modern algebra, but is otherwise self- contained. The intent is to describe as clearly as possible the fundamental issues involved in these subjects, rather than covering all aspects in an encyclopedic fashion. The first quarter of the book is devoted to information theory, including a proof of Shannon's famous Noisy Coding Theorem. The remainder of the book is devoted to coding theory and is independent of the information theory portion of the book. After a brief discussion of general families of codes, the author discusses linear codes (including the Hamming, Golary, the Reed-Muller codes), finite fields, and cyclic codes (including the BCH, Reed-Solomon, Justesen, Goppa, and Quadratic Residue codes). An appendix reviews relevant topics from modern algebra.

Book Selected Unsolved Problems in Coding Theory

Download or read book Selected Unsolved Problems in Coding Theory written by David Joyner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-08-26 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using an original mode of presentation, and emphasizing the computational nature of the subject, this book explores a number of the unsolved problems that still exist in coding theory. A well-established and highly relevant branch of mathematics, the theory of error-correcting codes is concerned with reliably transmitting data over a ‘noisy’ channel. Despite frequent use in a range of contexts, the subject still contains interesting unsolved problems that have resisted solution by some of the most prominent mathematicians of recent decades. Employing Sage—a free open-source mathematics software system—to illustrate ideas, this book is intended for graduate students and researchers in algebraic coding theory. The work may be used as supplementary reading material in a graduate course on coding theory or for self-study.

Book Codes and Rings

Download or read book Codes and Rings written by Minjia Shi and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2017-06-12 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Codes and Rings: Theory and Practice is a systematic review of literature that focuses on codes over rings and rings acting on codes. Since the breakthrough works on quaternary codes in the 1990s, two decades of research have moved the field far beyond its original periphery. This book fills this gap by consolidating results scattered in the literature, addressing classical as well as applied aspects of rings and coding theory. New research covered by the book encompasses skew cyclic codes, decomposition theory of quasi-cyclic codes and related codes and duality over Frobenius rings. Primarily suitable for ring theorists at PhD level engaged in application research and coding theorists interested in algebraic foundations, the work is also valuable to computational scientists and working cryptologists in the area. Consolidates 20+ years of research in one volume, helping researchers save time in the evaluation of disparate literature Discusses duality formulas in the context of Frobenius rings Reviews decomposition of quasi-cyclic codes under ring action Evaluates the ideal and modular structure of skew-cyclic codes Supports applications in data compression, distributed storage, network coding, cryptography and across error-correction

Book Gr bner Bases Coding and Cryptography

Download or read book Gr bner Bases Coding and Cryptography written by Massimiliano Sala and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-05-28 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coding theory and cryptography allow secure and reliable data transmission, which is at the heart of modern communication. Nowadays, it is hard to find an electronic device without some code inside. Gröbner bases have emerged as the main tool in computational algebra, permitting numerous applications, both in theoretical contexts and in practical situations. This book is the first book ever giving a comprehensive overview on the application of commutative algebra to coding theory and cryptography. For example, all important properties of algebraic/geometric coding systems (including encoding, construction, decoding, list decoding) are individually analysed, reporting all significant approaches appeared in the literature. Also, stream ciphers, PK cryptography, symmetric cryptography and Polly Cracker systems deserve each a separate chapter, where all the relevant literature is reported and compared. While many short notes hint at new exciting directions, the reader will find that all chapters fit nicely within a unified notation.

Book Codes And Modular Forms A Dictionary

Download or read book Codes And Modular Forms A Dictionary written by Minjia Shi and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2019-11-20 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are connections between invariant theory and modular forms since the times of Felix Klein, in the 19th century, connections between codes and lattices since the 1960's. The aim of the book is to explore the interplay between codes and modular forms. Here modular form is understood in a wide sense (Jacobi forms, Siegel forms, Hilbert forms). Codes comprises not only linear spaces over finite fields but modules over some commutative rings. The connection between codes over finite fields and lattices has been well documented since the 1970s. Due to an avalanche of results on codes over rings since the 1990's there is a need for an update at book level.
